Small Tool Instruments and Data Management Measurement Data Network System MeasurLink Catalog No. E4297 Centralized management of measurement data

MeasurLink provides total support from the production line to the management department. MeasurLink is a statistical process control (SPC) program born in the United States. SPC: Statistical Process Control The MeasurLinks program that has been developed by U.S. Mitutoyo and incorporates over a decade of expertise in the U.S., the birthplace of SPC. Industries have become increasingly borderless worldwide, and there will be more business with overseas companies, including Japanese manufacturers, in the future. In this scenario it is likely the acquisition of certified ISO9000-based quality control standards, such as QS-9000 of the automobile industry in the U.S., will be increasingly mandated, and this trend is expected to spread to other industries. In Japan today, most systems utilize inspection certificates, but process control will be required in more cases in the acquisition of international standard certificates. Preventive control via real-time control chart Real-time control charts are utilized to find abnormalities at an early stage in the workshop, to effectively prevent defects from occurring. Defective product Sign found Measures taken Sign found Measures taken Occurrence of defect USL UCL Possibilities of occurrence of future defects are found at an early stage based on previous trends. Measure Measure Examples of measures in the case of abnormality Adjustment of cutting depth due to wear of tool Replacement due to damage to tool Adjustment of cutting depth and maintenance of grinding wheel Maintenance due to wear and/or damage of molds Application of lubricant Adjustment of molding conditions due to material changes Adjustment of processing conditions (number of revolutions) Etc. 2

Expansion to the measurement network system! MeasurLink supports anything from stand-alone, small-scale systems to large-scale systems utilizing a PC network environment. You can choose from the 7 types of package software as shown in the right hand figure, according to your budget and application. Expansion from a stand-alone to a network system is easy, so you can gradually upgrade test operation in one section into full-scale operation. Report by measurement item All measurement items report Printout of the graphic window *By using theoptional MeasureReport package, you can create inspection tables in a format previously defined using Excel. 6

Real-time process control File output Results for the specified inspection lot (data, graph, calculation result, etc.) can be output to files in Excel format. (1 sheet is created for each item.) You can easily extract the necessary results and provide them to any department not using MeasurLink. Other file output formats, such as text file and MeasurLink's dedicated format, are also available. Raw data management function By registering the links to the original result files saved in the contour measuring instrument in the individual workpiece measurement result screen, you can call up the original raw data to check detailed information without starting up the program and searching files. Similar link registration and calls are possible for Excel and image data. Select from 10 types including various charts (image capture), control charts, and histograms For statistical processing results, you can select from 30 items such as average, maximum, minimum, Cp, and Cpk. Measurement data and measurement date/time Enhanced 3D graphics functions Adoption of the 3D graphics engine allows you to locate balloons and background CAD diagrams linked together. When the figure is rotated to the desired position, the balloons also rotate correspondingly, thus achieving three-dimensional, user-friendly measurement instruction screens. Original data of Formpak is displayed One touch switching between input screens of multiple parts When sampling inspections of multiple parts are done alternately, you can open the target part files in advance and use the part number buttons displayed at the top of the input screen to switch between the desired parts. Part number Start time Elapsed time When the sampling interval is specified, the counter starts counting down, and is displayed in red when the interval is exceeded. Count value input function The count value management function for visual appearance inspection is also supported. In addition to the measured value data, you can enter the external defect count such as OK/NG judgment, scratches, and irregular colors. MS-Excel inspection certificate MR-MeasurLink export program Converts selected data from the database collected by MeasurLink and outputs it to a file, and starts up MS- Excel and executes macro processing. Part ID and inspection routine selection Inspection table creation macro program Based on the data file created, the inspection table creation macro adds OK/NG judgment and statistical calculation results by macro processing, and displays them in Excel inspection table format. [Creation of a new format file] You can create your original format easily by editing the attached sample format file. Lot number (measurement date/time) selection After the part ID and lot number (date/time) are specified, file conversion is performed to create an Excel file. ODBC database file whose data was collected by MeasurLink File conversion [Workpiece shape display] The workpiece shape file used in the data acquisition of MeasurLink is automatically displayed. [NG marking] You can add any mark in front of NG data. [Design/tolerance values] The design and tolerance values registered in MeasurLink are used as they are. [Workpiece judgment] OK/NG judgment is performed by work. (OK/NG is displayed.) [Error value display] Errors in the design values can be displayed. Data file in the Excel format (Part ID, item ID, design value, tolerance value, measurement data, measurement date/time, etc.) *Measurement item count and convertible workpiece count 1) Items in columns, workpieces in rows: 200 items - 2600 workpieces 2) Items in rows, workpieces in columns: 2600 items - 200 workpieces Excel starts up. Macro is executed. [Statistical calculation] Desired calculation results can be displayed from 15 types of statistical items. <Statistical calculation items supported by the inspection table creation macro> 1) Maximum value 2) Minimum value 3) Range 4) Average 5) Standard deviation 6) Cp ((UtL-LTL)3/6σ) 7) CpU ((USL-Xbar) /3σ) 8) CpL ((Xbar-LSL) /3σ) 9) CpU or Cpl, whichever is smaller 10) Defect count (data count outside tolerances) 11) Defect % (Defect count/data count x 100) 12) Data count 13) Skew 14) Kurtosis 15) Coefficient of variation % Note: Items in parentheses indicate the Excel functions or calculation methods used. 16

Network environment When it is used in a network environment, server and client packages and licenses of a commercial database are required in addition to the MeasurLink package. Network System Example MeasurLink Process Manager Client 1 Server Client 6 MeasurLink Process Analyzer MeasurLink Gage R&R MeasurLink Gage Management MeasureReport + MS-Excel Quality administrator s terminal Database storage Inspection table creation In-house LAN Digimatic measuring instrument Optical measuring instrument Vision measuring system CMM Client 2 Client 3 Client 4 Client 5 MCOSMOS MUX-10F QM-Data200 QVPAK MeasurLink Real-Time PLUS MeasurLink Real-Time PLUS MeasurLink STATMeasure PLUS MeasurLink STATMeasure PLUS The configuration of database software required in the system example (1 server, 6 clients) is as follows. 1. Basic package "Sybase SQL Anywhere Studio" (including 1 server/1 client license) x 1 2. Additional licenses "Client access kit-single sheet" x 5 The recommended database is Sybase SQL Anywhere, but Oracle or SQL Server may be used. Enhanced measures against network troubles To prevent malfunction due to LAN line troubles during data communication with the server, failure/recovery of the network is monitored and server and local databases are automatically switched to avoid any interruption of operation and damage to the database. 19
