Dear Business Leader, Team Hatchett Basketball is a taxexempt, nonprofit organization that affords youth the opportunity to experience team sports through the highly competitive Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). We are affiliated with AAU because it means membership in an organization that is nationally recognized for its position in amateur sports. Membership has its privilege and that privilege demands unyielding dedication on the part of the coaches, athletes and families as well as significant time and financial resources. We invite you to share in making a difference in the lives of tomorrow s leaders through corporate sponsorship. Corporate sponsors are critical to the success of our basketball program. We enlist sponsorships to help supplement the costs associated with administering a travel team and competing at the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) level. Enclosed is our sponsorship package for your consideration. It outlines the benefits of your sponsorship and how your support constitutes an agreement to advertise your business on our website and identifies your reach into the community. If you have any questions or would like to set up a meeting to discuss your sponsorship, please do not hesitate to contact me at teamhatchettbasketball@gmail.com or at 18009166327 x103 at any time. Thank you in advance for your consideration and support of our team. Sincerely, William Hatchett (Head Coach) Team Hatchett Basketball Reach One, Teach One, Save One Enclosures Page 1
Executive Summary Team Hatchett Basketball is a select Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team that primarily serves but not limited to the youth of Fairfax and Prince William counties in Virginia. Our affiliation with AAU, allows us to expand the recreational and competitive opportunities for youth throughout the calendar year unlike county and other seasonal sports programs. Team Hatchett Basketball seeks to promote health and fitness, improve athletic skills, provide valuable social exposure and offer practical experiences in teamwork, sportsmanship, diversity and leadership. Our youth are exemplary athletes who strive for both academic and athletic excellence. Team Hatchett Basketball is a premier provider of youth sports experiences and seeks to make participation available and affordable to interested athletes who rise to the challenge of playing AAU basketball. We believe that an athlete should be able to participate regardless of race, religion, creed or financial status. Situation Analysis Numerous studies document the direct value of youth participation in sports. These studies indicate a direct correlation that involvement in sports reduces the potential to become involved in drugs, sex, crime, and gangrelated behaviors. Team Hatchett Basketball offers a basketball experience that will serve; as a personal sports reference for our athletes throughout their high school years and many will pursue basketball to supplement their tuition costs at prestigious colleges and universities. Our Impact Team Hatchett Basketball is dedicated to helping youth channel their passion for basketball to create positive experiences for themselves and others in their communities. Our athletes are involved individually and collectively in community outreach. Our Principles of Integrity is the cornerstone of our organization and is properly aligned with the AAU mission and vision statements: http://www.aausports.org/resources/aboutaau.aspx. Team Hatchett Basketball identified two national initiatives that, through our advocacy, will demonstrate our commitment to having a positive impact on our athletes and on our communities. Our first initiative is to focus on the health and well being of our athletes. The Amateur Athletic Union is the cosponsor of the President s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports: https://www.presidentschallenge.org/. Team Hatchett Basketball provides an opportunity for open gym play at no cost to youth of all ages and skill levels where our primary focus is on fitness and health. Our second initiative is our pursuit of academic excellence. In response to the U.S. goal to have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020, Team Hatchet Basketball parents and athletes pledge to maintain high standards of learning. Our athletes are required to report quarterly on their progress in school and are not allowed to participate in organized events if they fall below the team standard. The team s overall grand point average is 3.8. Page 2
Financial Objective Team Hatchett Basketball wants to continue to provide a quality AAU sports experience at an affordable cost yet there are significant expenses related to competing at the AAU level. While families are generally aware of the requirement for some financial commitment, due to the national landscape of AAU basketball, it is a tremendous challenge to predict the annual costs of travel, hotels, meals and other ancillary items. To that end, Team Hatchett Basketball is looking to reduce reliance on participant feebased revenues and look toward contributions from other sources including traditional fundraising activities, corporate sponsorships and gifts to support our program. This approach will enable us to meet our objective of keeping fees affordable while continuing to develop worldclass athletes. Typical annual expenditures for AAU level competition: Practice space AAU registration Tournament fees Equipment: practice balls Random extras: first aid kit, scorebooks, etc. Uniforms and other team apparel ~$13,000 annually ~$600 annually ~$6,000 annually ~$300 annually ~$100 annually ~$3,500 annually Our goal in meeting the objective is as follows: Generate 10% of annual revenue through participant fees Generate 20% of annual revenue through traditional fund raising Increase corporate sponsorships to account for 60% of annual revenue Solicit giftsinkind to account for 10% of annual revenue Controls Team Hatchett Basketball will seek to establish and maintain community relationships to reduce the annual costs of practice facilities and our volunteers will organize fundraising events throughout the year to generate cash flow. We will do our due diligence to seek the most economical purchase of uniforms and team apparel and to safeguard our equipment to eliminate recurring costs. Page 3
Corporate Sponsorship Levels and Partnership Benefits Team Hatchett Basketball is in its second year of operation and we are extremely excited about the possibilities for our team to excel this year. Last year, we earned the chance to compete in the 20122013 National Championships in Hampton, VA where we faced some of the top teams in the nation. We had a rewarding first year as a team as we enjoyed the thrills of competition as we navigated through the challenges of managing a travel AAU program. In order to ensure maximum exposure for our athletes, we intend to compete throughout the MidAtlantic Region including local area tournaments in DC, Maryland and Virginia and highly competitive tournaments in NY, NJ, DE, PA, WV, FL and NC. As we prepare our athletes mentally and physically for another year of competition, we also intend to kickoff our fundraising efforts early to ensure we are able to meet our financial objectives for the year. Corporate sponsorships are a significant component of our strategy. Any level of sponsorship is greatly appreciated.
