WEDDING F.A.Q. When do I start planning my wedding? Weddings are a time-consuming endeavour and it is recommended that you start planning at least three months prior to your wedding date in order to secure your preferred venue and commence preparations. Grand Hyatt Bali can, of course, accommodate requests made within one month, subject to venue availability. What is the best month and best time to get married? Bali s wonderful year-round climate has tropical temperatures that are consistently around 30 o C every day. The most preferred time of the day is 5:00pm, just prior to sundown, in order to capture the impressive glow cast over some venues and areas on the Island of The Gods. When should we make our reservation? It is advisable to book all arrangements as early as possible to ensure that you will be able to get your preferred dates and venue. We prefer to have a minimum of 60 days notice prior to the event so that we can book the celebrants and other officials, entertainment and photographers, and secure the best wedding venue for you. The earlier you book the better; although we do our best not to decline a last-minute wedding booking, Grand Hyatt Bali has the right to do so if our professional wedding organizer thinks the time frame is too tight. How do I start to plan my wedding? Prior to make any reservations, create a guideline covering all your requirements for the perfect wedding day: 1. Confirm your wedding date. 2. Preferred wedding venue. 3. Wedding agenda: ceremony only/reception only/ceremony with reception 4. Type of wedding ceremony: legal or non-legal, vow renewal, blessing ceremony 5. Style of ceremony: Western, Balinese, Oriental, etc. 6. Wedding package or custom-tailored arrangements 7. Accommodation for the couple and guests 8. Meal arrangements: Western/Indonesian/BBQ/seafood; buffet style or set menu 9. Choices of entertainment: Live band, DJ, traditional dance performance, traditional music, fireworks. 10. Wedding documentation: photography/video. What type of celebrants conduct the marriage ceremony? We have a range of celebrants offering religious and non-religious ceremonies, including options for Commitment Ceremonies, Vow Renewals or Affirmations. You may choose to have either a male or female celebrant/official to conduct your ceremony.

What are the legal requirements to get married in Indonesia? The Indonesian Government s requirements for arranging a legally binding marriage vows are quite specific. For the most part, any couple that is one of the five (5) religions recognised by the Government, namely Christian (Protestant or Catholic), Muslim, Hindu or Buddhist, may be legally married in Indonesia. However, the preference is that the couple be of the same religious belief. The marriage should be registered with the district Civil Registrar and the ceremony must be performed under religious rites. Indonesian authorities require that all foreigners planning to marry in Indonesia obtain a CNI (Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage) before the wedding. This is simply a letter from your Consulate or Embassy representative in Indonesia stating that there is no objection to you getting married in Indonesia.
For the Consulate to issue this letter, each couple must personally visit their country s respective Consulate to swear an oath that they are free to marry. You must have with you the documents listed below. Once the oath has been taken, the Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage will be produced and handed over. This is usually done on the spot. The following information will be required in order to process your marriage certificate in Indonesia. Please be advised that all documents must be original; photocopies are not acceptable. Passport Birth certificates for both parties Details of religious faith (i.e. baptism certificates) Occupations and domiciles of both parties Written parental consent for any person under the age of 21 Death certificate of former spouse (when relevant) Decree absolute divorce certificate (when relevant) Details of the names, addresses and professions of the two (2) witnesses that are required. If you do not have any witnesses, our wedding coordinator will arrange them for you. Eight (8) photographs (6 x 4 cm) of the couple in same photo. Photos must be of the head and shoulders only, side by side, looking straight ahead. Please be advised that these photos will be attached to your wedding certificate. What services does a Consulate perform and what are the charges? Consulates provide three services, as follows: 1. Issuing the Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage (mandatory for all nationalities). 2. Registration of a foreign marriage with your home country s General Registry Office (mandatory for all nationalities). 3. Translation of the Indonesian Certificate into your home country s official language (mandatory for British nationals, optional for others). Each Consular Agent charges a different amount. These costs are not included in any of our packages and you must pay your Consular Agent directly when you visit the consulate. For more information please e-mail us at bali.grand@hyatt.com Are there any special visa requirements? In February 2004, the Indonesian Government implemented a Visa on Arrival policy, applicable to the citizens of 21 countries and territories. You are advised to contact your local embassy or Indonesian Consulate to enquire if your country is included in this policy. In addition, all passports must have a minimum six (6) months validity. Who can help me with the legal formalities? When a couple decides to get married in Bali, our Bali-based agent files all of the necessary paperwork with the Indonesian authorities. Originals of all legal and religious documentation must be brought to Indonesia and shown as proof before the ceremony takes place. Once these documents and certificates have been arranged and lodged, your marriage is legally recognized.
