From the very beginning, the ensemble established close collaborations with many renewed composers such as Helmut Lachenmann, Gérard Pesson, Pierluigi Billone, as well as premiering several new works by young composers emerging from the international scene. The ensemble also frequently collaborates with eminent conductors such as Beat Furrer, Marino Formenti and Pierre-André Valade. Mdi is currently artist-in residence at the Milano Musica Festival and regularly appears at some of the most relevant Italian festival and venues, such as festival MiTo Settembre Musica, Venice Biennale, Mittelfest, Japanese Institute and American Academy in Rome, festival Traiettorie in Parma, Amici della Musica in Palermo. Recent and future highlights include debuts at Società del Quartetto di Milano, Ravenna Festival, Spoleto Festival dei due Mondi as well as two residencies at Museo Novecento in Florence and Fondazione Cini in Venice, where they filmed the documentary See the sound Homage to Helmut Lachenmann, soon to be released. Described from the Los Angeles Times as astonishingly competent, mdi ensemble performs throughout Europe and overseas, notably at Festival Présences de Radio France in Paris, Tonhalle in Dusseldorf, Konzerthaus in

Dortmund, Japanese and Italian Institutes in Koln, SWR Stuttgart, ORF Innsbruck, Societé de Musique Contemporaine in Lausanne, festival MusicAperta in Winterthur, Teatro Forteza in Majorca, Los Angeles County Museum of Arts and Chelsea Music Festival in New York City (as ensemble-in-residence). In 2008, the ensemble marked its debut in Japan and Tokyo. Mdi ensemble discography includes monographic CDs dedicated to composers such as Stefano Gervasoni, which has been awarded by Academy Charles Cros the prestigious Coup de Coeur Musique contemporaine 2009, Sylvano Bussotti, Marco Momi, Misato Mochizuki, Giovanni Verrando and Emanuele Casale. 4 Associazione per lo Studio e la Promozione della Musica Contemporanea The Association for Contemporary Music Study and Promotion (ASPMC) was founded in Milan in 2013 by a little group of young composers and musicologists. The Association aims to be a point of reference for young composers, performers and musicologists that want to understand, spread and make the most of Italian and international contemporary music. To reach its goals, ASPMC not only promotes musical research (writing, performing, thinking music), but also organizes events directed at giving new opportunities to spread contemporary music, through concerts and active discussion, not only for composers, performers and musicologists but also for the general public. In 2014, after the great success of the Microstagione contemporary music season, ASPMC inaugurated a brand new project SoW: Sound of Wander which includes masterclasses, seminars and a concert season, dedicated to the music of today, with special guest as Pierluigi Billone, Franck Bedrossian, Dmitri Kourliandski, Giorgio Netti and Helmut Lachenmann and musicians as Marco Fusi, Florentin Ginot, Promenade Sauvage Duo and Schallfeld Ensemble. Associazione MusicAdesso Associazione MusicAdesso was created in Milan in 2009 from the six members of mdi ensemble, together with a number of supporters who throughout the years have supported unformmally to the growth of the group, intended as a support to the upraising activity of the ensemble. The main goal of the organization is to develop the relationship with the local institutions, in order to create a network that brings people closer to the activity of the ensemble and in general to contemporary music, with a particular attention to young people. In Lombardy, Musicadesso has been very active since the very beginning, participating to the festival OVADA incontemporanea 2009 and producing a stage version of Arnold Schoenberg s Pierrot Lunaire at Teatro dal Verme in Milan in 2010, in collaboration with Accademia della Scala, Politecnico delle Arti, Musica e Spettacolo di Milano, directed by Sylvano Bussotti. More than 400 people were attending the show. In 2012 MusicAdesso has started a close partnership with Milano Musica and Repertorio Zero, achieving the financial support of the prestigious Fondazione Cariplo, thanks to a project clearly sustainable and orientated

towards improvements. Fondazione Cariplo has in this way supported mdi ensemble s residency at Festival Milano Musica from 2012 to 2015. Even more importantly, Musicadesso has been recognised the support from the Italian Governement as one of the leading projects based on the activity of musicians aged under 35. Thanks to this support, mdi ensemble has been capable of realising a two years residency at Museo Novecento in Florence. 5 Sound of Wander is a project by: Association for Contemporary Music Study and Promotion (ASPMC) of Milano and mdi ensemble. Our goal is to create opportunities to deepen and enrich younger composers experience (masterclass and reading session), give space to open dialogues (A chat with ) and introduce new authors and compositions in Italy (concerts).
