What software do you need to remove? There are several software components that are required to scan checks in QuickBooks. Depending on your needs, you may only have to uninstall some of this software. Here are the three possible scenarios: If you no longer plan to scan checks in QuickBooks, you should uninstall your Check Reader software. If you no longer plan to scan checks in QuickBooks but still plan to use your Fujitsu scanner, you need to uninstall the Check Reader software and the Check Scanning with ScanSnap Manager software If you no longer plan to use or keep your Fujitsu scanner, you can uninstall the CheckReader software and the ScanSnap Manager and Organizer software. Stop the I2iA and ScanSnap services Before you uninstall your Check Reader software, you need to do a bit of cleanup outside of QuickBooks to stop software and services that may still be running in the background on your computer. 1. Close QuickBooks. 2. From the Windows Control Panel, click Administrative Tools. 3. From the Administrative Tools window, and then double-click Services. 2
4. Click to highlight the entry for A2iA Service. 5. Click Stop the service. The next step is to exit the ScanSnap Manager, which is probably still running on your computer. 3
6. Look for the ScanSnap Manager icon it s a blue circle with an S on it -- in the Windows system tray on the bottom right of your computer screen. If you don t see this icon, ScanSnap Manager is not running and you can skip this step. 7. If you do find the ScanSnap Manager icon, right-click it and choose Exit. Uninstall Active X controls Next, you can uninstall the Active/X controls for the Panini scanner (FujitsuControl Class and Reader Class). The procedure is slightly different for the version of Internet Explorer you are using. If you have Internet Explorer 8 1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. From the menu, click Tools > Manage Add-ons. 3. In the Show drop-down list, click Downloaded controls to display all ActiveX controls. 4. Right-click the ActiveX control you want to delete (FujitsuControl Class and Reader Class), and then click More information. 5. In the More Information dialog box, click Remove. Note: Administrator permission is required. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. If you have Internet Explorer 7 1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. From the menu, click Tools > Manage Add-ons, and then click Enable or Disable Add-ons. 4
3. In the Show drop-down list, click Downloaded ActiveX controls to display all ActiveX controls. 4. Click the ActiveX control you want to disable ((FujitsuControl Class and Reader Class), and then click Delete. 5. Repeat step 4 for each control you want to remove. If you have Internet Explorer 6 1. Open Internet Explorer. 2. From the menu, choose Tools > Manage Add-ons. 3. In the Show drop-down list, choose Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer. 4. Click the ActiveX control you want to disable ((FujitsuControl Class and Reader Class). 5. Select the Disable radio button. 6. In the Add-on Status dialog, click OK. 7. Repeat steps 4-6 for each control you want to remove. Next, you are ready to uninstall the Check Scanning software Uninstall Check Scanning with ScanSnap Manager Now you can uninstall the Check Scanning software from the Windows Control Panel. 1. Go to the Window Control Panel and select the entry for Check Scanning with ScanSnap Manager. 2. Click the Remove button. 3. From the Remove Check Scanning. window, click Remove. 5
4. From the Add or Remove Programs window, click Yes. This removal takes a few moments 5. Finally, click OK. 6
The next step is to remove the A2iA Check Reader software. 7
Remove A2iA Check Reader software The next process is to uninstall the Check Reader software from the Windows Control Panel. 1. Go to the Window Control Panel and select the entry for A2iA CheckReader V4.2 R2. 2. Click the Remove button. 3. Click Yes. 4. Click Yes to remove the shared file. 8

Uninstall ScanSnap Manager The ScanSnap Manager software allows you to view, arrange, and store your scanned images. If you want to use your Fujitsu scanner outside of QuickBooks, it s not necessary to uninstall the ScanSnap Manager. If you no longer plan to use or keep your Fujitsu scanner, you can uninstall the ScanSnap Manager, as described below. 1. Go to the Windows Control Panel. 2. Choose Add or Remove Programs. 3. Click the entry for ScanSnap Manager. 4. Click the Remove button to start the process (if you want to stop, click the Cancel button). 12
5. Click OK to completely remove the ScanSnap Manager from your computer. This will take a few minutes 13
To complete the installation cleanly, you ll need to reboot your computer, either now or later. If you uninstall the ScanSnap Organizer in the next procedure, you might as well wait to reboot after that process. 6. Make your choice, and then click the Finish button. 14

Uninstall ScanSnap Organizer The ScanSnap Organizer software lets you store your scanned documents. If you still plan to user your Fujitsu scanner outside of QuickBooks, don t uninstall this software. If you do want to uninstall the ScanSnap Organizer, follow these steps. 1. Open the Windows Control Panel. 2. Click ScanSnap Organizer, and then click Remove to start the process. 3. From the Confirm Uninstall window, click OK. 16
