How to search for homes on Findbolig.nu This guide presents the various search options on Findbolig.nu. The guide shows how you - search for homes by area - view a home ad (a home) - apply a vacant home - search using the map - use the functions on the map - search by several search criteria For signing up on a waiting list including student housing, see other guide. What do you wish to search find the way from the front page On the front page of Findbolig.nu you can select between four different types of home: 2
Homes for pension fund members If you are a member of a pension fund, you may have a preferential right to one of the pension fund's homes. Click on the first box. Vacant homes for rent To search current vacancies among homes for rent, select box no. two, Ledige lejeboliger. Waiting list homes To search for a home for which you can join the waiting list, select box three, Venteliste skriv dig op. Student housing If you are a student, you can be added to the waiting list for student housing (nominating committees: CIU Copenhagen area - and RIU Roskilde area). Select the fourth box, Ungdomsboliger, on the front page. No matter which type you select, you can search for homes in the same way. 3
How to search (example: vacant homes for rent) When you have chosen the type of home you wish to search for, the search page will open. On the left side of the screen you will see the search fields in the dark grey box titled Ledige (Vacant). Here you can enter your search criteria and requirements of your new home. You do not have to complete all fields to be able to search. 4
You can e.g. search by postcode ( postnr ). When you enter the postcode, e.g. 5000, Findbolig.nu will display a list of the postcodes included in your search. You can also enter the name of a town or city ( by ). Here, Findbolig.nu will already display possible results after you have entered the first four characters. Some areas that cover several postcodes have been combined, so that you can e.g. search "København K" (Copenhagen K) and get all results for the postcodes under Copenhagen K. As soon as you have selected town/city or postcode, Findbolig.nu will search the map. 5
You can immediately continue to specify your requirements, such as rent ( husleje ), number of rooms ( værelser ) and area ( boligareal ), as well as floor ( etage ). None of the fields are mandatory for the search, so you can select whether or not to use them. If you wish to e.g. search for homes with a maximum rent, complete the Max field under Husleje (Rent). When you then click on the Vis liste (Display list) button, the search will be performed. You can specify the number of rooms in the same way. If you e.g. wish to have a minimum number of rooms, you can enter the number in "Min" next to Værelser (Rooms). If your search gives many results, you can add additional search criteria. On the other hand, you can delete some of the fields' content if the list of results does not include enough homes. 6
The list of homes that match your search criteria is displayed as a list with 10 homes per page. The list displays details of the homes, as well as the landlord's name or logo. You can scroll to the next result pages, or view 100 results per page. 7
How to see the full ad for a home From the list, you can access the ad for a home and get more information on the home. Click on the ad's picture or the address ( adresse ). 8
You can find more information by scrolling via the tabs under the address. Boligen = general description Detaljer = specified rent Billeder = pictures Plantegning = floor plan Kort = map Ask the landlord ( Spørg udlejer ) If you have questions regarding the home and property you can send a message to the landlord via the box on the right. 9
You can find replies from a landlord or other messages at Min side (my page) under the tab Meddelelser (messages). Apply for the home To apply for the home click the green button Ansøg bolig (apply for the home) in the dark grey box on the right. The following pop up window is a confirmation of you application. Click Luk (close). 10
How to get back to your search result On the actual home ad, you can click on Tilbage til din søgning (Back to your search) in the top left corner to get back to the list of search results. 11
Displaying the search result on the map You can also view your search results on a map by clicking on the Vis kort (Display map) button. 12
On the map, the homes and their location are indicated by the home icon. 13
Clicking on the icon opens a small window with basic information on the home. To view the full ad for the home, click on Se detaljer (View details). To close the window again, click on the X to the top right. 14
If there are several homes at the same location on the map, the home icon is displayed: In the small window that opens you can scroll between the homes under the home icon næste (next): 15
See all homes in a map section When you have performed a search with the Hvor (Where) field, and searched by town/city or postcode, you will see the ads for homes located in the selected area. The map thus only displays the homes located in the area you have searched, and not all homes in the entire map section. If you wish to see, within the same map section, whether there are homes outside the postcode you searched by, click on the Se alle boliger i kortudsnit (See all homes in the map section) button to the top left in the map. 16
Vacant homes matching your search criteria that are located in the map section will now be displayed. 17
How to use the map s other functions The map functions in the same way as Google Maps. This means that you can zoom in and out, move the map around and view homes in other areas, without entering new search criteria, and you can view a satellite image of the area. To get a satellite image of the map, click on Satellit in the top right corner of the map. 18
You can also move the map, to view other areas, by clicking on the arrows, or by holding the map with the mouse, i.e. pressing down the left mouse button to drag the map, making new areas visible. To zoom further into or out of an area, use the zoom function to the left in the map view. Click on + to zoom in or to zoom out. You can use the scroll wheel on your mouse, if it has one. Press down the left mouse key and pull the lever up and down to zoom. To view photos of the property and the immediate environment, use the street view function by moving the orange man to the address on the map. 19
Additional search options Besides the search criteria described, you can also specify your search by using the expanded search options. Boligtype/Home type Here, you can select between searching both rented homes ( lejebolig ) and student housing ( ungdomsbolig ), or just one type. Faciliteter/Facilities Tick the facilities required for the home. Altan = balcony Elevator = elevator Gårdhave = patio Husdyr forbudt = pets not allowed Husdyr tilladt = pets allowed Internet = internet Legeplads = playground Parkering = car park Vaskeri = laundrette Lejeperiode/Lease period Here you can search for homes that are leased for an unlimited ( ubegrænset ) and/or limited ( begrænset ) period. Åbent hus/open house Here, you can search for homes for which a time and date for 'open house' events are given. 20
Student housing To search current vacant student housing, under Boligtype (Home type) you can mark the type Ungdomsboliger (Student housing) as part of your search criteria. If you select the Venteliste (Waiting list) tab, you will see student housing that you can sign up for. Read more about applying student housing at the end of this document. Waiting list homes To search waiting list homes, hold the mouse over Find bolig (Find home) in the green bar at the top and select Ventelisteboliger (Waiting list homes) in the list that unfolds......or select the Venteliste (Waiting list) tab. 21
Pension fund members To access a pension fund's homes, first select pension fund. You can do this from the search page. 22
View your applications Go to Min side (My page) to see which vacant homes you have applied for. 23
