FSD SERVER ENVIROMENT This multiplayer environment is very similar to VATSIM and IVAO; you need two FSFDT programs: FSInn and FSCopilot, both of them from http://www.mcdu.com You can also download the liveries library for FS2004 only (called VIP); they are not mandatory and you can add them to the simulator. Just remember that these libraries allow to see each other with the plane everyone is flight with. In this document it is just described the configuration needed to connect to Orio Virtual Team server using FSD. If you want to know more, just download the manuals you can find in the following links. Programs download (mandatory) - FSCopilot 1.7 beta: ftp://www.mcdu.com/mcdu/setupfscopilot17b2_4.exe - FSInn 1.3 beta: ftp://www.mcdu.com/mcdu/setupfsinn13b2_3.exe Optional download - VIP Standard: http://www.mcdu.com/redirect.php?id=50 (suggested) - FSCopilot 1.6 user guide: http://www.mcdu.com/redirect.php?id=60 - FSInn 1.2 user guide: http://www.mcdu.com/redirect.php?id=20 - ServInfo: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?dlid=40824 Uninstall previous versions If you have already installed previous versions of FSCOPILOT and FSINN, before installing the new version, we suggest to uninstall the old version using the uninstalling feature that the applications have or using Windows Control Panel. We also suggest to delete the complete FSFDT directory that you should find under Program directory since the uninstall feature leaves some files in there. INSTALLATION To use this server it is necessary to setup two programs FSCOPILOT and FSINN. First you have to install FSCOPILOT and then FSINN. If you want to install also the VIP libraries (suggested), they come last. FSCopilot Run SetupFSCopilot17B2_4.exe already downloaded. This installation is quite fast and, we are not spending words on the 3 steps. The program automatically recognize the Flight Simulator version installed in the computer. We just suggest to select Enable using CPU/SSE2 instructions if possible. FSD Manual.doc www.oriovirtualteam.it Pag. 2/9
FSInn Run SetupFSInn13B2_3.exe already downloaded. Also this installation is quite easy, so we just insert a couple of pictures of the basic steps. First select Enable using CPU/SSE2 instructions if possible and Force reset the FSInn Aircraft Database at the first start and remove the selection of Ask networks user info as indicated in the picture. In the second step live all unselected. VIP standard Run FSFDTVIPStandard2004.exe already downloaded. The program must be installed in the same directory where Flight Simulator 2004 is and should automatically recognized. If not, just specify where it is, when requested. ADDITIONAL NOTES FOR WINDOWS VISTA USERS In Windows VISTA a lot of security check have been added and some time they create some problems to the programs that are installed. For this reason you have to run the graphic FSD Manual.doc www.oriovirtualteam.it Pag. 3/9
interface, FSInn control panel and Flight Simulator as administrator otherwise could be that they are not working. To do this, open Windows Explorer and move to the directory where you have installed FSFDT and then in the directory where FSInnUI is. Right click with the mouse the file FSInnUI.exe and select Property. In the window you get, select the Compatibility tab and at the end check the Execute this program as administrator. Then press OK. Now go to Control Panel directory where FSFDT programs have been installed. FSD Manual.doc www.oriovirtualteam.it Pag. 4/9
Do the same for both of them: FSFDTCP.exe and FSFDTCPLite.exe. Last is necessary to do it for Flight Simulator as well, that means on fs9.exe or fsx.exe. This last step will be executed each time you run Flight Simulator. It is a bit boring but necessary to get every thing running. OVT NETWORK CONFIGURATION Be patient we have almost completed the job and then we can go to the server and test it. Start Flight Simulator and go to the airport you like with the plane you want. You noticed that now in the menu we have the new entry COPILOT (in FSX the menu FSCopilot is inside Modules ) and under the option Inn Control Panel. When you select this option, just the first time, the program FSInn builds up the aircraft database, and this will take a bit of time. Still in this step, if the program was never been installed, the Windows firewall will ask the permission to allow this application, so we have to do it. FSD Manual.doc www.oriovirtualteam.it Pag. 5/9
At the end of this step the program will show us a kind of MCDU. To configure the connection to our network FSFDT we have to click on SET. General Please do the following selections : In Basic digit your CallSign, Name and Family name with the ICAO of your basic airport. Will leave oll the other options of this window as they are. In General, we select all if nor already done. In Charset, we select Ansi, if not already done. FSD Manual.doc www.oriovirtualteam.it Pag. 6/9
In Multiplayer we have to set the value Multiplayer Range to 50 and Max Plane to 64, plus we have to select Filter non moving aircraft. You can use the arrow of the keyboard to make it easier. In Various we activate every thing except fields 2, 4 and 5 of the right column. In Sound, activate every thing (if not already done). In VA Voice select None and leave all the other field empty. In Flight select your preferred flight type and specify the default values you want fro the transponder. In Italy we set 7000 for VFR and 2000 for IFR (default value for flights coming from uncontrolled areas. FSD Manual.doc www.oriovirtualteam.it Pag. 7/9
In Weather leave everything as in the picture. Networks In this section it will be possible to configure additional networks (up to 3). Open the field Networks and you will see that some of them are already there (VATSIM and FSFDT) and some are empty (Net2, Net3, Net4). To set the connection to our server we can use one of them. Select for example Net2 (it is where you see OVTNET ) and insert in the window the following data: ID: ovtfsd Password: fsovtser Net Specific Callsign: <your callsign> Net Label: OVTNET Server: ovt.dyndns.org Voice : TS VA mode TS VA Mode URL: teamspeak://ovt-ts.dyndns.org?password=xxxxxxxxx (insert the password that you received by mail) Unicom channel: UNICOM Unicom Freq: 122.800 ROUTER/FIREWALL CONFIGURATION For the peer to peer connection, FSInn uses port UDP 32062 therefore it has to be forwarded in your router/firewall configuration. For information on how to forward and/or address ports of the router you can visit: www.portforward.com FSD Manual.doc www.oriovirtualteam.it Pag. 8/9
SERVER CONNECTION Now every thing is ready and configured to connect to our server. Do not close the two previous windows that appeared, you now have to click on the button close to OVTNET and verify that the connection is established. SERVINFO Probably, as flying on the IVAO network, you could be interested to know if any other pilots are flying and where they are. This is possible using the ServInfo program (at the beginning of this manual you can find the link for downloading it). To download it, you should be registered on AVSIM (free registration!). Once downloaded you can run immediately the ServInfo file (no need for installation). Once it is running, select Connection Parameters from menu Options. In the new window insert the data as in the picture. Now click on the icon with the two computer to connect to our server and see all the pilots connected in that moment. If the icon with the two computers is not there, just use the arrows on the right end site to find it. And now after all this work HAVE A GOOD FLIGHT Orio Virtual Team FSD Manual.doc www.oriovirtualteam.it Pag. 9/9
