3 1. Software Description Each KSHHU includes the Korosi Monitoring System (KMS) Software. This program is a collection of utilities designed to assist the corrosion analyst in gathering and analyzing corrosion data. When data has been uploaded to the software, the data can be displayed in graph. The output of the printer, either in list or graph form, is suitable for any kind of printer. After data is uploaded to PC, user can delete all data stored in the memory bank of KSHHU. 2. PC Requirements To run the Korosi Monitoring System (KMS) Software, you need a PC that meets the following requirements: Pentium class processor Windows XP / Vista operating system 64 MB of RAM 40 MB of minimum available hard-disk space VGA monitor Available 9-pin / RS-232 (for instrument download) CD-ROM drive for software installation Microsoft Excel (Needed if you need to open an exported data) Standard mouse and keyboard 3. Installing KMS To install Korosi Monitoring System (KMS) Software: 3.1. Insert Korosi Monitoring System (KMS) software CD into your CD- ROM. Double click setup.exe, which will run the program the setup disk From the Start menu, select Run. The Run dialog box should appear. Page 1 of 14

4 3.3. In the Open field, type "x:\setup.exe" where.x. is the letter of the CD-ROM drive containing the setup disk Click OK. The setup program should now start The system setup wizard will run and click next button. Page 2 of 14

5 3.6. You may change the directory that contains the software by clicking the Browse button. To install the software in the default directory, click next button After clicking the next button and simply follow on the screen prompts, the software will be installed on your PC If any error occurs during software installation, you should uninstall, and then reinstall the software When the software installation is complete you should remove the setup disk, and then reboot your computer. 6 4. Uninstalling KMS To uninstall the Korosi Monitoring System (KMS) Software: 4.1. Open the Windows Control Panel and Add/Remove Programs 4.2. Select Korosi Monitoring System (KMS) Software from the list Click the Change/Remove button Follow the prompts Reboot your PC Page 4 of 14

7 5. Starting Korosi Monitoring System For starting this program, you can double click Digital Transmitter Monitoring shortcut icon on desktop or click on your window start menu. Initial program will show the login form. To start using Korosi Monitoring System (KMS) software you must enter username and password. 9 6. Download Data To download data from an instrument: Run the Korosi Monitoring System (KMS) software. Click Download Probe on Toolbar Using the supplied cable, connect the KSHHU to the appropriate COM Port on your PC Select the appropriate serial port from the Com Port Properties on KMS Click Open Port button to turn the port on and enable the computer to receive data Press the Download on KSHHU Data will begin to transfer from the instrument to the PC, and will appear in the data window of the Download Data. If data does not appear in the data window at all, verify that: The instrument is connected to a valid serial port All cables are securely connected No interrupt during downloading data process. 10 Selecting a Serial Port Use the Com. Port Properties or the COM. Port Properties option in the Options menu to select the port to which the instrument is connected. (For all KS instrument the Parameter of Serial is 9600 bps, 8 Bit, None Parity, and 1 Stop Bit). 7. Read Probe File To show data has been saved, click the Read Probe button on Toolbar and choose Browse File command and then click Read Each Line / Read All for showing the data. Page 8 of 14

11 Click the Browse file button and Read All button to show data to be analyzed on installation directory. Read file form support drag and drop. You can directly drop probe file into this form without manually browse to a file. 8. Browse Probe To show data accordance with tag, click the Browse Probe button and choose Load command. 12 Charting Data To chart the contents of the data window, choose the Browse Probe on toolbar and choose which tag will be analyzed then click Charting button. On this form you will find some tool to help you working with the chart. (See screenshot below). 1. With this option you can hide metal loss line chart. Default value is checked. You can also choose to add symbol to each point of metal losses. 2. You can also show metal loss trend line. Default value is unchecked. 3. This is the corrosion rate value. When first load it shows corrosion rate for whole points. It will change dynamically when selection range is made to the chart. 4. To help you analyze the chart, we provide two tools : a. Set Min/Max value. With this tool you can change metal loss min scale and max scale (Y axis) of the chart. b. Add Offset value. If you want to add certain number to metal loss scale. 5. Filter range. When you make selection range it will show the start date and end date of the selection. 6. You can save the chart into image file. (PNG format only) 7. You can also print directly the chart. 8. 14 9. Corrosion Coupon Worksheet Some customer for any reason combines on single or multiple points using Coupons in the field, so this feature is integrated in this Software. The Corrosion Coupon Worksheet is a simple, step-by-step method for calculating metal loss and corrosion rate from corrosion coupons. Calculating Corrosion Rate To calculate the corrosion rate of a coupon, enter the requested information in the Worksheet Configuration and Exposure Data boxes, and then click the Calculate button. The calculated Surface Area, Total Exposure, Metal Loss, and Corrosion Rate will be displayed in the Results box. Any comments or special information can be entered in the Comments field. Many standard Korosi Specindo coupons are listed in the Coupon Type menu. When using one of these coupons, its dimensions can be entered automatically by selecting it from the list. If the coupon being calculated is not found in the list, select Other, then enter the coupon dimensions manually. To reset the worksheet, click the Clear button. Saving a Worksheet The File menu offers two options for saving a worksheet. Page 12 of 14

15 Export To CSV File / Excel Export to CSV File can be used to save data from multiple worksheets as entries in a data file, which can be opened by spreadsheet programs such as Excel or Quattro Pro. The Save As dialog box will be displayed to allow selection of a file name. If an existing file name is selected, the data from the worksheet will be saved as a new entry in that data file. If the file name specified does not exist, a new file will be created with that name, and the worksheet data will be saved as the first entry in the new file. Save To Text File Save to Text File can be used to save an individual worksheet as a text file. The Save As dialog box will be displayed to allow selection of a file name and file location. The worksheet will be saved using the file name and location specified, and can be opened using any standard text editor or word processor. Unit Selection The measurement units for Density, Dimensions, Metal Loss/Corrosion Rate, and Weight can all be configured independently using Density, Dimensions, Corrosion Rate and Weight in the Change Dimension Button.
