The international module offers the possibility to put into practice all the knowledge that I learned at my university in Spain. The subjects are very practical, and therefore interesting to study. It was also very clear that the teachers are responsible people who look after their students very well. Gabriela, an art student from Romenia: As from the first meeting on, at the introduction day, I felt welcome and prepared for my stay in Hasselt. The academic and administrative staff at PXL is professional and friendly. The courses are very well elaborated. I learned many important things in a short time. I loved the interaction with other international and local students. I was never bored, meeting new people, travelling and discovering. 5

LANGUAGE COURSES@PXL Several language courses can be added to the learning agreement of every international student. SURVIVAL DUTCH Learn the basics of our Dutch language. In no time you will be able to take the bus, to find your way in Hasselt or order a pint in a pub. The course has a strong focus on communication skills. SUMMER SCHOOL ENGLISH Students will work on a variety of language competences with the focus on speaking and writing skills within the context of everyday student life. ENGLISH FOR EXCHANGE Learn how to communicate in an international context by practicing the four communicative skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. SUMMER SCHOOL INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY FOR LIFE WHAT? The international summer school Innovation and Creativity for Life (IC4Life) is an intensive programme that aims to develop multi-professional and intercultural competences. Students are able to create idea s, products, prototypes or assistive technology in order to improve the quality of life in living, learning, working and playing for individuals, communities and the intercultural society. FOR WHOM? International students in the study field of occupational therapy, engineering, technology, IT, (multi)media & product design can apply for this summer school. Applicants should have obtained at least 120 ECTS in their study field, on bachelor level. Erasmus students can add the summer school to their study period at PXL. There will be a participation fee for non-erasmus students. Places are limited. More information about the summer school and the application procedure: www.ic4life.weebly.com. Campus Guffenslaan - Hasselt EXCHANGE COURSES IN HEALTHCARE FOR WHOM? International exchange students in the study field of nursing, occupational therapy or midwifery, on bachelor level. All students should have achieved at least 120 ECTS in their field of study. International students wishing to enroll in the clinical placement must be fluent in at least one of the mentioned languages below. Students who do not have sufficient language skills, can be refused access to this course or will be obliged to follow a part-time language course (15 hours per week). LANGUAGE OF INSTRUCTION The classes of the course units in this list are taught in Dutch. Tutoring and supervision is in English. English course material is available as well. A sufficient level of language skills (Dutch or English or French) is required for placements and internships. PROGRAMME All courses are organised in a modular way. 15

PXL-MAD offers a fixed compilation of bachelor courses for exchange students in visual arts: graphic design, object and jewellery, fine arts. STUDENT SERVICES HOUSING SERVICE Our housing service assists you in finding a room at a reasonable price on the private market. Note that PXL University College doesn t have own student residences. LAPTOP SERVICE The PXL Laptop Service assists students with configuring their laptops, e-mail settings and technical problems. STUDENT CATERING PXL offers student catering on our campuses. FREE BIKE RENTAL Since distances are small, cycling is the ideal way of travelling around Hasselt and Diepenbeek. We offer free bike rental for all students. APPLICATION APPLICATION PROCEDURE Students from higher education institutions that have an inter-institutional agreement with PXL can apply for a student exchange period. The application documents consist of: Application form Learning agreement Certificate of English proficiency, signed by the home university (level B1 is required) An extended electronic artistic and personal portfolio for students applying for PXL-Music and PXL-MAD A CV and a transcript of records for students applying for a project or a work placement at PXL-Tech The application procedure is online. All the forms must be filled in and uploaded in Mobility Online. See www.pxl.be/international. LEARNING AGREEMENT The learning agreement can only contain course units from one study programme. APPLICATION DEADLINES All the forms have to be filled in, approved and signed by the home institution and uploaded by: 01/06/2016 for students applying for the Autumn semester or 1 st trimester 15/11/2016 for students applying for the Spring semester KNOWLEDGE OF ENGLISH We expect students to have level B1 in English, according to the European Framework of Reference. Except for native speakers, this should be certified with a certificate of your university or a recognised language testing centre or the results of the OLS test (Erasmus+). STUDY LOAD AND A full time programme consists of 20 ECTS for one trimester, 30 ECTS for one semester and 60 ECTS credits for a whole academic year. 1 ECTS credit corresponds to 25 to 30 working hours, all included (attending classes, working an studying at home, passing exams,...). 32
