When my husband joined Rotary I became an Inner Wheel member in 1987. Taking offices at Club, District, National Council and International level gave me the opportunity to serve our wonderful organisation. NOMINATION FOR IIW VICE PRESIDENT 2015-2016 OLUYEMISI ALATISE LAGOS 911 NIGERIA Approx 770 members Inner Wheel has been my way of life and the way to be since I joined the first IW Club in Nigeria in 1978. I have always seen the organisation as a platform for development, an avenue for friendship and an umbrella to serve the less privileged. Every step up to IW office is usually new opportunity to actualise an inner zeal to prove myself. I have made marks in all key offices held, trailing a blaze of success stories for those coming behind to build on. As President of my Club I started the project that still stands as the biggest IW project in Nigeria for lost and found children. As District Chairman I started the Vocational Centre building for training and empowering indigent women. As National Representative dozen of women were empowered, and through "Women for Africa Seminar" I laid a foundation for a strong Microcredit project. Internationally I have made friends, meeting IW members is a passion. I intend to strengthen our international understanding, to make IW open door to sincere friendship. In the process of making friends, we serve and bring smile to faces of needy, leaving an indelible mark in the minds of the served. My vision is to make members feel at home with fellow members globally, without losing our value of self respect, integrity, sharing Jove, improving self development and actualisation in the process. I will work to strengthen the hard work and contribution of our Past Presidents and be the pride to our founding mothers. NOMINATION FOR IIW VICE PRESIDENT 2015-2016 PIRKKO KIIKKA NURMIJARVI 142 FINLAND Approx 1242 members I have a dream. My dream is to educate and care. All Inner Wheel members have a dream of their own. I have tried not just to dream but to act. Through Life Education in Finland we prevent children from using drugs and alcohol and train their self esteem stronger. Twelve years ago I got to know about Life Education, so the model was imported to Finland with the help of Rotary and Inner Wheel members. I took the foundation into my heart and worked with it from 2 classroom mobile units to today s energetic, active and systematic part of Finnish educational program. We have managed to support the start of the program also in Denmark. I want to share your dreams and give my experience and knowledge to the use of our organization. Inner Wheel has given me wonderful moments, great friendship and a network all over the world. The environmental issues I have tried to encounter through the Conferences Women For Europe first in Tuusula and this year in Hanasaari, Espoo. We had wonderful speakers and most remarkable lectures from the experts of our Universities in Finland. I am sure, that based of this information we can change the attitudes and teach our children and grandchildren to honour our unique globe. I also believe that we can make a difference to the future of our Planet. Inner Wheel members have stable status and influence in our societies and our countries. Together we can develop the progress and show the importance of a worldwide network. The impact we have is considerable. Through our Conventions and Conferences we will continue to foster the friendship and out common goals with modern methods. We can give our organization a stable and valued position and structure by sharing our dreams and making them real.
