EWE GBM Tapping valves The fundamental considerations for tapping supply lines 02 EWE tapping valves are the product of more than thirty years experience in the design and production of tapping valves and accessories. We are able to supply you, the end user, with a tapping system offering outstanding solutions to all problems in the pipe trench area, which is also of an exceptionally high technical standard. Genuine EWE tapping valves offer the security of guaranteed functioning, which many imitations fail to provide! These features are typical of the EWE tapping system: - One system for all types and sizes of pipe - For water and gas - Same tapping performance under pressure - Uniform, self-sealing tools appropriate to the model - Perfectly co-ordinated accessories, such as PE connections and installation fittings - Developed and perfected over decades of use by specialists in the field The EWE tapping system offers: - Valves with optimum resistance to corrosion damage - Naturally conforming to DIN 3543, - Tested, wherever possible - No tapping residue in the pipes - Maintenance-free - Safe - Simple, user-friendly tapping process - Considerable savings on inventory EWE ball valve-type tapping valve for vertical tapping, bit opening 32 mm, with side outlet internal thread Rp 1 1/2". Extremely high-performance design with side auxiliary shut-off and upper operating shut-off. Body and upper section made from hot-pressed brass, with non-rising stainless steel stem and double O-ring stem seal. The tapered stem is hard-chrome plated, the stem is sealed conically by means of the additional PTFE resilient seal. A shut-off ball with Teflon seal and 10 mm operating square acts as an auxiliary shut-off. EWE ball-type tapping valve for vertical tapping, identical in design to the ball valve-type tapping valve, but without operating shut-off, fitted instead with heavy left-hand thread plug with O-ring seal. The valve is intended for use in "lost tappings". The valve can be changed over at any time to operating shut-off by replacing the plug by an upper section. A ball shut-off with Teflon seal and 10 mm operating square acts as auxiliary shut-off. When tapping supply lines, all relevant DIN and DVGW regulations must be observed and complied with. Work must be carried out by trained technicians only. The procedures established in the "accepted codes of practice" must be adhered to, which means, for example.: The supply lines must be subjected to a pressure test before tapping, e.g. if PN = 10, at a test pressure of 15 bar. The tapping valves should only be fitted on pipelines pressurised to working pressure. Tapping is always carried out in an open pipe trench. Always carry out tapping work with the system under pressure and rinse out thoroughly to prevent drilling and cutting residue remaining in the supply line. All instructions of both the tapping valve and the pipe manufacturer must be observed and complied with when installing tapping valves. This is particularly important in the case of welded tapping valves, for example. Tighten screwed connections evenly and open wedges evenly. Check that the seal between supply line and tapping valve is seated correctly and if necessary pressurise and check for leaks from the outlet side. Absolute cleanliness is essential, e.g. when fitting the tapping valve onto the main pipe and when using stainless steel bolts. It is essential to ensure that the correct, suitable tapping tool is always used. Use only perfect, sharp bits, cutters etc. (resharpen as necessary), to avoid the risk of damaging the supply line. Proper filling and compaction of the pipe trench, especially in the area of the tapping valves. In this case, a quite special feature is the connection formed between the connection piece and the tapping valve. All EWE tapping valves are at this point sealed both radially and axially with two O-rings (GBM). This technology has been tried and tested many thousands of times over! It is a simple, secure connection and allows the tapping valve to be turned 45. This facilitates adaptation in cases where the domestic service line is not at right angles to the main pipe, and other fittings may prove to be unnecessary. Connection pieces and clamps for asbestos cement, cast iron and steel pipes also with cement mortar sheath, universal application, nominal diameter 50-500, for nominal water pressure 16 and nominal gas pressure 4. One connecting piece and one clamp per dimension will meet all the requirements of the various types of pipes.
