Before you begin Ensure that your computer meets the system requirements for the software that you are installing. If you downloaded the software from IBM Passport Adantage, ensure that you extracted the contents of the compressed files. The extracted contents are in the WDTEXT/disk1 directory where you extracted the contents. Procedure 1. If you are installing from an electronic image, change to directory where you extracted the contents of the compressed file and change to the WDTEXT/disk1 directory. If you are installing from the DVD, change to the root directory of the disk. 2. Depending on your user ID, complete one of the following steps: If your user account has authority to install software as an administrator: a. Start the launchpad: Windows 2000 : Run launchpad.exe. Important: If your operating system is Windows 7, then you must run launchpad.exe as administrator. 2000 Linux : Run launchpad.sh, which is in the root directory of the DVD. b. Click Install IBM WDT with Web Deelopment Extension for Power Systems Software. If your user account does not hae authority to install software as an administrator: Run the userinst program: a. If the launchpad program started automatically, stop it. b. In a command line, run the following command for your operating system: Windows 2000 : Run InstallerImage_win32\userinst.exe. 2000 Linux : Run InstallerImage_linux/userinst. IBM Installation Manager starts and opens the Install Packages wizard. 3. On the Install Packages screen, IBM WebSphere Application Serer Deeloper Tools for Eclipse, IBM Web Deelopment Extension for Power Systems Software and IBM Installation Manager are selected for installation. If you already hae the required ersion of IBM Installation Manager installed on your computer, then it is not shown. 4. To search for updates to the packages, click Check for Other Versions and Extensions to install the latest aailable ersion. If a newer ersion is aailable, it is automatically selected for installation. 5. Click Next. 6. On the Validation Results page, click Next. 7. On the Licenses page, read the license agreements for the selected packages. If you agree to the terms of all of the license agreements, click I accept the terms of the license agreements and then click Next. 8. If you do not already hae a ersion of IBM Installation Manager installed on your computer, then you must specify the following installation directories and then click Next: a. In the Shared Resources Directory field, type the directory path for installing shared resources, or accept the default path. If you are installing on Linux, ensure that you do not include any spaces in the directory path. Important: You choose the shared resources directory only when you install your first product. Use your disk with the most aailable space for this directory to help ensure that you hae adequate space for the shared resources of future packages. b. In the Installation Manager Directory field, type the path for the directory where you want to install Installation Manager, or accept the default path. 9. On the Location page: a. In the Installation Directory field, type the path for the directory where you want to install the product, or accept the default path directory. b. If you operating system is 64-bit, then select 64-bit or 32-bit to install the product in the corresponding bit mode. c. Click Next. 10. On the next Location page, you can choose to extend an Eclipse IDE already installed on your system and add to it the functionality in the packages that you are installing. If you do not want to extend an Eclipse IDE, click Next to continue. To extend an existing Eclipse IDE: a. Select Extend an existing Eclipse. b. In the Eclipse IDE field, type or browse to the location of the folder that contains the Eclipse executable file (eclipse.exe or eclipse.bin). Installation Manager checks whether the Eclipse IDE ersion is alid for the package that you are installing. The Eclipse IDE JVM field displays the Jaa irtual machine (JVM) for the IDE that you specified. c. Click Next to continue. 11. On the Features page under Languages, select the languages for the package group. The corresponding national language translations for the user interface and documentation for the product package is installed. 12. On the next Features page, select the package features that you want to install and then click Next. When the installation process is complete, a message confirms the success of the process. a. Click View log file to open the installation log file for the current session in a new window. You must close the Installation Log window to continue. b. In the Install Package wizard, select whether you want the product to start when you exit. c. Click Finish to start the selected package.
