1.1 Operating Environment WebShip 8.0 software requirements: 1.1.1 WebShip Server Database: Oracle 11gR2 WebShip Operating System: o Windows 2008 R2 Standard Edition 64 bit o Windows 2012 64 bit platform FedEx FSMS Operating System: o Windows 2008 R2 Standard edition 64 bit Application Server: Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) Microsoft.NET framework version 4.5 ConnectShip Progistics 6.5 Federal Express FSMS: Version 13.X Tomcat 7 with JVM 1.7 1.1.2 Client Workstation Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Browser: Internet Explorer 9, 10 or 11 1.2 Upgrade Information This section provides information on updating existing WebShip installations to version 8.0. This information is based on the assumption that the current production system is using WebShip 7 and Progistics 6.4. If the production system is not using above version, do the following: Upgrade WebShip database schema to version 7. Upgrade Progistics to version 6.4. During upgrade, clients can choose to keep Progistics data or start with fresh data on Progistics 6.5. The upgrade process will be easier if starting with Progistics 6.5 fresh data. Clients who are using Progistics 4.X or older should do the following when upgrading: 1. Upgrade to Progistics 5.6 2. Next, upgrade to Progistics 6.0 3. Finally, upgrade to Progistics 6.4 Page 1
For clients with Progistics versions earlier than 6.4, PTC recommends starting with fresh data in Progistics 6.5. Below are the steps to upgrade to WebShip 8.0. NOTE: Make sure all WebShip transactions are completed before WebShip 8 upgrade. 1.2.1 To Keep Existing Progistics 6.4 Data 1. In the new server, install.net 3.5 and.net 4.5. Refer to the Microsoft website for information about installing.net 3.5 and.net 4.5. 2. Install Progistics 6.4 server in the new server. Please keep same directory structures during Progistics 6.4 installation on the new machine. 3. Copy Progistics 6.4 server configuration from old machine to the new machine. Follow steps at the following URL to copy all Progistics data and configuration. http://www.connectship.com/docs/a00020.aspx Make sure the new machine is at minimum using Windows 2008. 4. After step 1 is completed, patch SQL Server 2005 in the new machine to SQL Server SP4. Download SQL Server 2005 SP4 from the following URLs: SQL Server 2005 SP4: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=204632 SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP4: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=204633 5. Download the Progistics 6.5 installer and run the installer. Progistics 6.5 installs SQL Server 2012 Express as its default local database engine when installing on recent versions of Windows. New installations on Windows XP and 2003 Server still use SQL Express 2005 for local databases. The installer does not upgrade SQL 2005 to 2012 unless SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 has been installed, although it may be done manually. There are two options for installing SQL Express 2012 with Toolkit: Copy the SQL Express 2012 installer (SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.EXE) into the same directory as the Progistics product installer. SQL Express 2012 with SP1 can be downloaded from Microsoft here. If the SQL Express installer is not present, the Progistics product installer will download it directly. Page 2
6. Install WebShip 8.0 on separate new server(s). Skip Progistics installation section since it is already done in the preceding steps. For WebShip 8.0 installation in the new server(s), refer to the WebShip 8.0 installation guide for system requirements and complete steps. 7. Continue upgrade steps by following steps in section WebShip 8.0 data Migration. 1.2.2 To Start Fresh with Progistics 6.5 Data 1. Install WebShip 8.0 on separate new server(s). For WebShip 8.0 installation in the new server(s), refer to the WebShip 8.0 installation guide for system requirements and complete steps. 2. Continue upgrade steps by following the steps in the following WebShip 8.0 Data Migration procedure. 1.2.3 WebShip 8.0 Data Migration 1. Shut down IIS and PM server on WebShip 8.0 2. Shut down Tomcat and Progistics Windows services on WebShip 8 3. Shut down FedEx 13.01 Windows services (if installed). 4. Shut down the WebShip 7.0 application (IIS, PM Server, Progistics Windows services and FedEx). 5. Copy the WebShip 7 Oracle database to Oracle 11gR2 (latest version). The recommended way is to use the Oracle export/import (Oracle data pump export/import is preferable) mechanism. 6. For clients on WebShip 5.x and FedEx FSMS 7.6.x, call FedEx Server support to upgrade to FedEx FSMS 7.7.7. This upgrade consists only of patches. For clients on WebShip 4.x or older with FedEx FSMS 7.2.x, call FedEx Server support to upgrade to FedEx FSMS 7.7.7. This is a more involved process.
