General Information INTRODUTION Today s complex engine/generator systems demand high quality interactive classroom and hands-on technical training. We provide affordable training with state-of-the-art equipment, repair procedures, and live engine or generator troubleshooting. Cummins Crosspoint LLC classes are sized and monitored to assure proper student to instructor ratio providing personalized performance based training to all students. Our instructors are highly skilled professionals, educated in both training technology and engine/generator knowledge. Through a comprehensive trainer development program, our instructors are provided with a curriculum, which teaches instructional concept, benefiting adult learners with diverse learning styles. Also, Cummins Crosspoint LLC instructors are kept on the leading edge of changing technologies, by attending courses at Cummins Inc. and Cummins Power Generation. These classes provide the latest technical information, procedures, and techniques available. This insures each student receives up-to-date information and instruction.
REGISTRATION In order to avoid disappointment; enroll as soon as possible. When your enrollment has been accepted, you will be invoiced for class. Maps of Training Center locations and hotel information are located in this section. Crosspoint Personnel Must enroll on Intranet web site. Dealers on Support Program Must enroll on Dealer web site. www.myxpoint.com All others Must enroll on Cummins Crosspoint. www.crosspoint.cummins.com. CANCELLATIONS/SUBSTITUTIONS: There will be a $250 charge if cancellations are not made 10 working days before the start of class. No shows will be charged the entire cost of the training class. The student must have the course prerequisites completed before attending class. If not, they will be sent home without a refund. It is our recommendation that you have 2 technicians ready to attend any class you have enrolled in. If some unforeseen event happens that prevents the person enrolled from attending, the backup person could attend their place. In addition you would have more technicians trained, which will improve your Customer support. SCHEDULED CHANGES: Courses that have less than the minimum number of students may be canceled no later than (2) weeks before class starting date. COST: Tuition costs are shown on page 26/27. We will accept purchase orders from established accounts, major credit cards (MC, VISA). We do not accept personal checks, or cash. Students are responsible for transportation, lodging, personal expenses, and their own meals. TRANSPORATION:. There is no shuttle service provided between the hotels and Training Centers. Rental cars are available at Indianapolis and Nashville International Airports.
DAILY SCHEDULE: Typical class hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with ample class breaks and a one hour lunch period daily. Some classes will dismiss at noon on Friday. Homework may be assigned each evening to help students comprehend the material covered and increase hands-on time. BOOKS, TOOLS AND SUPPLIES: Cummins Crosspoint LLC provides access to QSOL and tools used while in the Training Center. Handout literature will be given to each student and is included in the tuition cost. Other classroom supplies such as note pads and pencils will be provided. We recommend students wear comfortable clothing suitable for working on engines and hardware. When in the shop area you MUST wear safety glasses. ATTENTION ATTENDEES: Shorts, sandals, and sleeveless shirts are not considered appropriate clothing! Class #181 requires safety equipment (See class description) VIRTUAL COLLEGE TRAINING The virtual college student disk files will need to be posted to QuickServe Online prior to class date. This is the only way we will accept the student s Virtual College training records. If you are having trouble with the Virtual College CD s, call the Help Desk at 1-800-239-5930. RECOGNITION: Certificates are awarded for all courses completed. You will receive either a Qualification certificate or a Familiarization certificate. Qualification certificates are awarded only, if you have completed all Qualification requirements for the course you are enrolled in. To meet these requirements, the student must receive a minimum score of 84% on the written Test and 90% score on the hands-on test. Both tests must be completed in the allotted time. All others receive a Familiarization certificate.

Training Curriculum & Course Description Cummins Engine and Onan Consumer /Commercial Classes ACTIVE ENGINE CLASSES COURSE # 181 (EPA 2010 ISX 11.9) Qualification 2010-06Q ISX 11.9 CM 2250 3 Days This class consists of a complete engine teardown and assembly. Cummins Course Number, (116/117/177) Fundamentals of Power Generation Qualification (2 Days) - (271) This course is designed for technicians with little or no knowledge of electricity or how generators work. This course will give them a fundamental understanding of Onan Industrial/Commercial generator sets and transfer switches. In addition to an understanding of electrical fundamentals and basic schematic reading, this training will introduce technicians to installing, operating and troubleshooting standby power systems. Mandatory Prerequisites: See Core Requirements above! Cummins Course Number, (129/6043) InPower Basic Qualification (1 Day) - (280) This course will get the Technician able to use the basic functions of Inpower, which includes: Selecting the correct hardware to connect to the control, adding a site (Product) to InPower, and connecting to a device. The student will learn how to make a capture file of the device settings and load them into a control. Using monitor functions, strip charting, events and faults. In addition we will cover how to load a calibration into device, and how menus are setup in, InPower. Each student must pass a written test, using InPower that is on their computer. In addition the course will cover sequence of operation. Each student will leave the course with laminated color coded 11 by 17 prints that will cover each of these events, for all the switches listed above. (Example, source one connected). This information will be used in the hands-on segment of the class to aid in troubleshooting, and can be used in the field. Cummins Course Number, (2004-17Q (1301) and 6057 (PC1.1, and 2001-28Q (PCC2100)) PCC1301/1302 and 2100 with Universal Annunciator Course (3 Days) - (283) This course covers the operation and proper setup of the PCC 1301/1302 and the 2100 controls. In this course we will cover sequence of operation, and other devices that are available for use with these controls. Setup procedure of the Universal Annunciator will be covered and performed by each student. This sheet can be used on the job site. In addition, we will cover how to install a Universal Annunciator on the PCC2100 control. This will be done in the class using a PCC2100 simulator and the Universal Annunciator. Each student will be required to pass a written test and hands-on test using the PCC1301 Control. FT-10 Topology, which includes the following: wiring size and length. When to install FT-10 termination resistors and how many that must be installed for correct network operation. FT-10 devices that are available, which includes how to properly set them up using Inpower software when doing an FT-10 Network self install. Each group will build FT-10 Network during the hands-on segment of this course. PCCNet Advance course will cover how to properly connect the Aux 101 and 102, the new PCCNet Bar Graph. In addition we will cover how to properly setup the temperature kit and exhaust temperature kit. In the hands-on segment of this course each group will build PCC Network using PCC1301 control. The student will learn how to do the following with Insite: Create a work order, read fault codes and clear them, engine adjustments, and test functions. The student will come away with good understanding of CAN, and how it is connected to both the Genset and the engine ECM. Both Engine and Genset wiring diagrams will be used and given out in this course. We will also cover how to troubleshoot Can datalink fault codes for both the Genset and ECM. Cummins Course Number, (N/A) Power Generation Electronic Engine Controls and Fuel System Troubleshooting Course (2 Days) - (286) This course will get the Cummins Power Generation Technician able to understand Cummins Full Electronic engines and their fuel systems. The student will be able to do the following after attending this class: Troubleshoot temperature and pressure sensors for shorted high or low fault codes. We will cover how to hook-up to a Genset using the Insite Program and the Inline 5 adaptor. The student will test the engine fuel system for low KW, by testing the inlet restriction, fuel pressure, and drain line restriction. During the hands-on segment we will use the approved service literature (QuickServe Online), to troubleshoot sensor and fuel sensor problems that the Instructor put into the engine. Must have access to QSOL on their computer Cummins Course Number, (2004-15Q) FT-10 Intermediate Course (5 Days) - (287) This course is designed to qualify technicians on the PowerCommand Network hardware and software. Technicians will learn about FTT-10 Protocol Hardware added to the PowerCommand Network line. This course includes building a network using twisted-pair media. The course will introduce the technicians to the software used in installing and maintaining networks. Participants will also learn to select and install all hardware, to develop a network which can fill the needs of the customer. This will include the use of a sample specification, drawing the installation diagram for the hardware components and completing a binding diagram. Once the participants have successfully completed all of the required exercises they will complete hands-on qualification assessments. STUDENTS MUST BRING A LAPTOP COMPUTER WITH THEM TO CLASS EACH DAY WITH THE CORRECT SOFTWARE LOADED ON IT. There are four items needed for FT-10 networks. InPower is required to work with the new network hardware. Users must also have LonMaker for Windows 3.2 Turbo, installed on their PC, with all the required Cummins plugins and files. Order these components from Echelon and have them installed in/on your PC before coming to class. Cummins Course Number, (288) FT-10 Advance Qualification (5 Days) - (288) This course will teach the Technician to setup and install Ilon 600 and the I Watch 100 system (Ilon100). The Ilon 600 is used to connect the FT-10 network to Local Area Network; this allows the Customer to have and FT-10 network, without a distant limitation, by using the Internet as your media. The FT-10 Network has a maximum distance of 8800 feet This course will cover, the proper cable to be used at the job sit, setting up the Ilon 600 and 100 (Iwatch). Setting up alarms and messages for the Iwatch will be covered. We will also go over the Iwatch wireless product. In addition we will cover how to install and setup Modlon2 devices. This course also includes a complete sequence of operation of all of the modes in the PowerCommand 3.2 System with the PCC3300 Control, operating systems, troubleshooting practice and installation procedures for generator sets with the PowerCommand 3.3 System. We will cover up to isolated paralleling operation and proper connection in this class. Cummins Course Number, (2001-30Q) BT & BTPC Transfer Switches (5 Days) - (292) This course is designed to enable technicians to perform service and repairs on the new PowerCommand Control Bypass Transfer Switch. Lessons will include the Automatic and Bypass switch mechanisms. Hands-On exercises will focus on automatic and manual control of the ATS, racking out the automatic switch and troubleshooting common fault situations. Must have access to QSOL on their computer Cummins Course Number, (2001-29Q) OHPC and CHPC Transfer Switches (3 Days) - (293) This course is designed to introduce technicians to the new Open Transition and Closed Transition PowerCommand transfer switches and the new transfer switch mechanism. The participants will learn where the transfer switch hardware is located and the function of each module in the control. The control portion of the course will be expanded from the OTPC transfer switch course. The course will include reviewing the procedures for removal, rebuilding and replacement of the OHPC/CHPC mechanism. After successfully completing the transfer switch control portion of the course, participants will continue with removing, rebuilding and replacing the OHPC/CHPC transfer switches mechanism. Once the participants have successfully completed all of the required exercises, they will participate in a written and hands-on qualification assessment. Cummins Course Number, (2009-43Q) NSPS Qualification (3 Days) (294) This training course was developed to cover basic gaseous fuel information along with the new EPA requirements listed in New Source Performance Standards (NSPS). The EPA New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) is for Spark Ignited (SI) Engine Exhaust Emissions Regulations. Here are some key dates for this program: Proposed on June 12, 2006 Finalized on December 20, 2007. Effective: 07/01/2008 for Prime; 01/01/2009 for Standby The scope of the rule is for stationary spark-ignited internal combustion engines fired by Gasoline, Natural Gas, Propane (LPG), Digester Gas, and Landfill Gas. Manufactures must factory certify Propane engines. Manufactures have the option of factory certifying Natural Gas engines. Engines that are not certified from the manufacture must be brought into compliance with the regulations by the owner/operator. New for 2011, there are separate course offerings for dealer and distributor personnel. The dealer course is a full day instructor- led classroom session that expands on the material presented in the Cummins Warranty Library CVC Course with a special focus on Rapidserve and Rapidserve Web. The distributor course is a two- day classroom session, with the second day focusing on warranty claim filing through the distributor Business Management System. Note: Each student must complete the prerequisite Cummins Warranty Virtual College (Library CVC) course, bulletin #4091966, which can be ordered through our Cummins Crosspoint Parts Distribution Center.
