Topics include the full breadth of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with an emphasis on Medicine/Anesthesia and Cosmetic surgery. Heartland Regional Doctor Dinner Guest Lecturer 2014-present Invited to conduct lectures to the doctors participating in the Tennessee region. These interactive sessions provided participants up-to-date information that could be applied to their daily practices. Vanderbilt Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery 2012-present Conducted presentations to residents regarding such topics as cosmetic surgery and the transition from education to private practice. The Ohio State Univ. Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery 2010-2011 Conducted monthly presentations specifically related to facial cosmetic surgical procedures to the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residents. Vanderbilt Department of Emergency Medicine 2009-2010 Conducted both a didactic course and a practical workshop on routine Oral & Maxillofacial Surgical procedures. Received 100% positive feedback throughout all courses Vanderbilt OMFS Chief Resident Lecture Series 2009-2010 Co-organized monthly lecture series that included outside practitioners, as well as various members of the Vanderbilt community to discuss issues pertinent to oral & maxillofacial resident education. My teaching responsibility was limited to leading discussions and providing senior resident input when needed. The IFDC s mission is to serve the working poor of the Nashville metro area. They have the support of both the United Way and a faith based organization in Nashville. As a volunteer I would participate in workshops and fund-raising events in addition to my professional time. Vanderbilt University School of Medicine New Applicant Committee 2004-2007 I immediately became involved with my medical school by volunteering to give new applicants to the Vanderbilt School of Medicine tours, lead discussions on curricula, and answer questions regarding medical student life. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Group Leader & Fund Raising Co-Chair 2005-2008 Led group discussions at monthly meetings primarily to develop ideas to further the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Nashville. I was responsible for organizing and carrying out the annual Pig Roast fund raiser which during my tenure raised ~$10,000 for the organization. 2004-2010 Country Music Marathon Medical Team 2005-2007 Led a team of multidisciplinary medical personnel dedicated to acting as a team to provide rapid assessment of medical needs and to administer acute first aid and immediate services to the runners. Race Participant 2004, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2015 University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Student Association Vice-President/Senate Chair 2003-2004 Chaired the OUHSC Student Senate and assisted the OUHSC President with campus events, policies, and student concerns. Introduced legislation in the form of resolutions to promote both the needs and wants of students from the entire Health Sciences community. Social Chair 2002-2003 Mounted the task of bringing members of the 7 major disciplines represented on our campus together for social events such as Block Parties, Game-Day Watch Parties, prominent speakers in the health sciences, and multicultural banquets. While trying at times, my leadership skills have been refined as a result of communicating with such a diverse group of students in a social atmosphere. Interdisciplinary Learning Chair 2001-2002 Coordinated events between the different colleges represented on the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Campus as well as between peers in the health services community. Student Web Development Chair 2002-2004 Represented student requests for web development/design to the Information Technology Department on the OUHSC Campus. Attended meetings with Mark Ferguson, head of Information Design Group to discuss possible student internet resources. University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry Student Council Secretary 2002-2004 I have become a firm believer in the adage that if you want to know all of the intricate workings of an organization, become the secretary. At this position, I took minutes at every meeting and make them available to all of the representatives. I mediate discussions with the faculty advisor and with the Dean. University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, Class of 2002 Class Vice President 2000-2004 Acted as mediator between class and course directors. Performed instructed actions of Class President. Good Shepard Ministries Clinic Coordinator 2003-2004 Coordinated the students, faculty and supplies that are needed to run a fully operational exodontias clinic for indigent patients. Ensured that enough student participation was available, encouraged faculty members to be attending doctors, and used clinical knowledge to provide treatment to the more difficult cases. Volunteer Dentist 2000-2002 Volunteer every Monday night between 5:00-9:00 at the Good Shepard Mission Dental Clinic.
