CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY System wide Scholarships for the 2015 2016 Academic Year We are pleased to announce the system-wide scholarships available for the 2014-2015 academic year to students in the California State University system. The attached information provides details for each of the scholarship programs. GLENN AND DOROTHY DUMKE FELLOWSHIP Amount: $1,300 Established by: The Glenn and Dorothy Dumke Fellowship was established in memory of Dr. Glenn S. Dumke, Chancellor of the California State University from 1962 to 1982. The purpose of this fellowship is to encourage student scholars to engage in graduate work in fields such as public policy, American history, economics, archival management and government. Preference will be given to projects that involve research about the State of California. The chosen scholar is expected to pursue research projects within special CSU library/archival collections. Open to: Applicants must be a CSU graduate student in the areas of public policy, American history, economics, library science, archival management, or government during the 2014-2015 academic year. The award must be used to pursue research projects within the Dumke Collection or other collections housed within the CSU archives at CSU Dominguez Hills, the Center for California Studies at CSU Sacramento, or other special collections within the CSU system. Criteria: 3.0 GPA Must be a Graduate student in public policy, American history, economics, archival management or government who conducts a research project on California in the CSU library/archival collections. WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST/CSU TRUSTEES AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT Amount: $6,000 Established by: The William Randolph Hearst Foundation established an endowed scholarship fund in 1984 to honor William Randolph Hearst, founder of the Hearst newspaper chain. The award recognizes students who have overcome adversity, demonstrated financial need, and have attributes of merit including superior academic performance, significant personal achievements, and exemplary community service. If nominated, the student will be required to work closely with the Scholarship Coordinator, Wendy Ascencio, to help prepare other required application materials. Open to: This scholarship is Open to any undergraduate or graduate CSUF student in any major field, who will remain a full-time CSUF student in the next academic year. Criteria: 3.0 GPA Superior academic performance Financial need Community service activities Personal Achievements Financial need go to your CSUF portal (be sure to use the new portal) and click on the Scholarships button. Follow the instructions and be sure to answer all the questions DALE M. SCHOETTLER SCHOLARSHIP FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS Amount: $6,500 Established by: The Dale M. Schoettler Scholarship is for Visually Impaired Students; this scholarship was established in 1991 for San Francisco State and San José State University students. After Mr. Schoettler s death in 2001, the California State University received a $4.8 million bequest from his estate to expand the existing financial aid program for legally blind students to all 23 CSU campuses. If nominated, you the student will be required to work closely with the Scholarship Coordinator, Wendy Ascencio, to help prepare other required materials. Open to: This award is Open to all continuing part-time undergraduate and graduate students. Applicant must be legally blind and provide verification from a physician, which includes the best corrected visual acuity notations. THE WILLIAM & JANET LAHEY ART EDUCATION AND VISUAL ARTS SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $9,701 Established by: The William & Janet Lahey Art Education and Visual Arts Scholarship will have one scholarship of $9,701 available for the 2014 2015 academic year for students in a post-baccalaureate program leading to a high school single subject teaching credential in the arts. The annual scholarship will be sufficient to cover tuition & fees and provide an additional small stipend. Open to: This award is Open to half-time students in a post-baccalaureate program leading to a high school single subject teaching credential in the arts. Criteria: 3.0 GPA Must be involved in activities in the arts or who are currently engaged in art activities in schools or community art organizations Possess a bachelor s degree in art or in one of the visual art specializations. Must be enrolled in one of the following programs: a postbaccalaureate program leading to a high school single subject teaching credential in the arts, a Master of Fine Arts program in art or one of the visual arts specialization, or a Master of Arts program in art or one of the visual arts specializations. Financial need Application Procedure: The online application will be available late January. To access the EDISON SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIP Amount: Fifteen $4,000 scholarships and one $5,000 Established by: Edison International believes that education is an important source of power and advancement for young people, as well as strengthening communities. Since 2009, Edison has given more than $34 million to education programs that help make the dream of college education a reality. These programs have focused on helping minority, low-income, and underrepresented students pursue studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Open to: This award is Open to full-time graduate students in one of the STEM majors listed below. Criteria: 2.8 GPA financial need full-time STEM Majors fall into the following categories: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science/Information systems, Engineering: Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, and Nano. Material Sciences: Computer, and Environmental.

To access the FLY FISHERS CLUB OF ORANGE COUNTY MARINE STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP FUND Amount: $1,500 Established by: The Fly Fishers Club of Orange County and was founded in 1966 to further the sport of Fly Fishing. In addition to being a way to meet others who enjoy the sport, there were three goals in mind when the club was founded: Educating the public, conserving the fisheries, and contributing resources to make fly fishing enjoyable and available to all who are interested. If nominated, you the student will be required to work closely with the Scholarship Coordinator, Wendy Ascencio, to help prepare other required materials. Open to: This award is Open to full-time undergraduate or graduate students in Marine studies. Criteria: 3.0 GPA financial need full-time must have a commitment to community service in the fisheries biology field. LEFFINGWELL SCHOLARSHIP Amount: $3000 Established by: Richard Leffingwell joined the CSU s Chancellor s Office as a member of the trustees audit staff. Then he directed the CSU s self-supporting financing activities, and later became the Director of Financing and Treasury. Richard worked with trustees, campuses, and the municipal financing community to establish viable systems for financing non-state projects at the 23 CSU campuses before retiring in 2004. This scholarship reflects his admiration for the university s commitment to provide opportunities to foster the next generation of students who wish to be instrumental in serving the public. Open to: This award is Open to full-time upper division undergraduate or graduate students in Business and Economics.

Criteria: 2.75 GPA financial need full-time Veteran Students must have demonstrated an interest in and aspire to a career in public service. Students must be currently enrolled as a full-time equivalent upper division or graduate student at a California State University campus and must remain a full-time equivalent student during the scholarship period. Application Procedure: The online application will be available late January. To access the CALIFORNIA SOCIETY OF MUNICIPAL FINANCE OFFICERS Robert M. ODell Endowed Scholarship in Public Administration Amount: $1,950 Established by: The California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) established the Robert M. to honor the former city treasurer of Los Angeles. The scholarships are awarded on an alternating basis between northern and southern geographic regions of California to the seventeen campuses offering degree programs in public administration. Open to: This award is Open to full-time undergraduate or graduate students in public administration. Criteria: 3.0 GPA financial need full-time Applicants must be currently enrolled as a full-time, upper division undergraduate or graduate student in public administration and must remain a full-time student in good standing during the academic year in which the award is received.
