The Ontario Principals Council (OPC) 1. A professional association representing elementary and secondary vice-principals and principals in the public education system in Ontario. 2. Three main roles on behalf of our members: Advocacy Consultation, advice and legal support when necessary Professional learning and training 3. Relatively young organization, since April 1, 1998 4. Not part of the government, political but non-partisan

International School Leadership (ISL) International School Leadership, a subsidiary of the Ontario Principals` Council provides training and certification program to K-12 school and system leaders around the world, professional consulting services and program customization.

International School Leadership A subsidiary of the Ontario Principals Council and builds on OPC s standard of excellence and international reputation for leadership. Founded on evidence-based research that shows the impact school leaders have on student achievement. Driven by a highly-educated and dedicated team of experienced educational leaders who have demonstrated excellence in studentcentred leadership training. Guided by four principles proven to produce progressive results: local ownership, participator development, adult learning best practices, and the use of technology to enhance learning opportunities. Programs are authored and delivered by exemplary school leaders. Utilizes the state-of-the-art learning management system for online delivery.

Charles Sturt (CSU) The University was created in 1989 and brought together the two major regional Colleges of Advanced Education in NSW. The University operates Campuses in: Albury-Wodonga * Bathurst * Burlington, Ontario * Dubbo * Wagga Wagga * Orange. It also has centres in Broken Hill, Canberra, Goulburn, Manly and Morpeth. The University has a central administration and Faculties are represented on each main campus.

The Initial Context 2005 Charles Sturt University expanded their presence in Ontario, Canada The Ontario Principals Council was seeking academic recognition in a Master s degree program for their Principal s Qualification Program

The Initial Vision the establishment of the agreement and partnership required strong leadership from both parties the leaders needed to be visionaries, their thoughts and actions being unencumbered by existing practices, policies, processes, and mind sets the collective vision was crystalized during early moments of discussion: An Ontario based Master s degree, provided by CSU, which awarded prior learning credit for the OPC s Principal Qualification Program

The Challenges an Ontario organization partnering with an Australian university determining how much prior-learning credit infusing the PQP with more academic content administrative issues creation of the Practicum Master s Dimension constructing the Master of International Education (School Leadership)

The Outcomes 450 OPC school leaders have been involved in the program the Master of International Education (School Leadership) is being delivered to school leaders around the world the partnership continues to flourish and now involves other Additional Qualification courses that OPC offers
