For students who have taken a specific program of study with no grade lower than C in core subjects and have taken the ACT. Final deadline: Feb. 2, 2015. ACLU Youth Activist Scholarship. For students who have stood up for civil liberties and human rights. Gates Millennium Scholarship Program For ethnic minority students with 3.30 or higher GPA, demonstrated leadership abilities, and financial need. SAE Engineering Scholarships. For students planning to major in certain engineering fields. A variety of scholarships are available with different eligibility requirements. Deadline: February 1, 2015. *University of Utah Steve & Angie Smith Young Alumni Scholarship. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, be a first- generation college student or represent at- risk and underrepresented student populations, have financial need, enhance the diversity of the studentbody at the U of U, and not be a current recipient of an athletic scholarship at the U. Applicants (male or female) must be of Italian ancestry and a 2015 high school graduate. For students with demonstrated financial need, with an emphasis on under- represented and/or first- generation college students. Available to students who are direct descendents of a South High School alumnus. Must be used at SLCC. Available only to juniors who have talent, ambition, and financial need. Recipients will participate in a 3- year program supporting them in leadership, college

Application available December 3. Deadline: March 4, 2015. Teacher Recruitment Scholarship for Diverse Students. This program provides financial and academic mentoring support for diverse students who want to become teachers in Wasatch Front schools. Recipients begin their postsecondary education at SLCC to earn an Associate degree in Education, then transfer to the University of Utah to complete a Bachelor s degree in Teacher Education. At SLCC, students will receive approximately $4,000 per year. After transferring to the University of Utah, they may be eligible for approximately $5,000 per year through internships and scholarships for the remaining two years. SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: Are you interested in a Study Abroad program (during high school) but don t have the $$$ to pay for it? Consider one of the following programs which have full scholarships available to eligible students. For brochures with more information, see Mrs. Townsend in the Counseling Center. The Kennedy- Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Abroad (YES) program. This program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and provides exchange opportunities for American students to live and study in countries with significant Muslim populations for one academic year. Countries include Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Morocco, Philippines, Turkey, Thailand, South Africa, and others. 65 full scholarships are available. The Congress- Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) program. This program also lasts one academic year and is sponsored by the US State Department. Students in the CBYX program study and live with host families in Germany. No previous German language training is required. Admission to this program requires at least a 3.0 GPA. 250 full scholarships are available.
