Jive StreamOnce 3 Jive StreamOnce StreamOnce transforms how your teams collaborate by connecting all your business systems into your Jive community. When you stream all the relevant information into one social place, your team can search, manage and respond instantly to data. Release Notes StreamOnce is an evolving product that can support a number of configurations and information flows. This edition of the documentation describes how to set it up for Google Apps groups and Microsoft Exchange email platforms. Please contact Support or Sales to find out what's possible for your network. Known Issues At this time, there's no way to disconnect StreamOnce from the Jive platform. If you need to break the connection, you should contact Support. Creating a Google Group connection disables your ability to connect groups to Exchange or another Microsoft email platform. Make sure you've identified a group belonging to your Google Apps corporate deployment as the source for streaming into Jive before you create the connection. Note that connections to Groups owned by individual Gmail accounts are not supported. System Requirements You can use StreamOnce with any version of Jive 6 or higher, and with any distribution list on Exchange or Office365 (using Exchange 2007 or higher), or a Google Group associated with a Google Apps corporate deployment. Other configurations, including bidirectional streaming with additional content providers such as Yammer and Dropbox, may be available depending on your license. For help setting up these altaernate configurations, please contact Jive Support. Note: StreamOnce does not support Google groups created with individual Gmail accounts. If you're doing a test implementation, please don't use your personal Gmail. Doing so can cause future problems with your production implementation. Software Requirements Jive 6.0.0 or higher with Extended APIs v2.1 or higher installed. External and Customer Service communities don't currently support StreamOnce. Required Ports For Jive to communicate with StreamOnce, make sure your firewall has port 80 (for HTTP) or 443 (for HTTPS) open. Installing Extended APIs To set up Jive StreamOnce, you need to first install the Jive Extended APIs plugin. Installing the JAR File The Extended API plugin JAR file can be downloaded from the Jive Software web site. This plugin supports multiple Jive products including this one. After you add this plugin, you'll need to restart Jive in order for the feature to become available.
Jive StreamOnce 4 Once you download the plugin JAR file, install it using the following steps: 1. In the Admin Console, go to System > Plugins > Add Plugin. 2. Under Install a new plugin, click Browse to select and open the plugin JAR you downloaded 3. Click Upload to add it to the community. 4. Restart the application as root: /etc/init.d/jive-application restart. 5. Once the application has restarted, you can verify that the plugin was installed by navigating to System > Plugins > Installed Plugins and checking the list for the Extended APIs plugin. This is also where you can remove the plugin. Getting Ready for StreamOnce Before you start using StreamOnce, make sure you have a group set up in Jive and a distribution list that can stream traffic to it. To use StreamOnce in Jive, you'll need to 1. Set up an email distribution list or Google Group if you don't already have one. You need to have an email account that's part of this distribution list. Note if you're using Google that both the Google Group and the email account need to belong to a corporate Google Apps deployment, even if you're setting up a test connection. Individual Gmail accounts and Google Groups created by them are not supported. 2. Set up a group on a Jive instance (Jive 5.0 or higher, or Jive Cloud, are supported.) You can make this a secret or private group if you want the content you stream there to be visible only to certain users. You can also connect an existing group to StreamOnce, but you should make sure you have a group that's dedicated to the content from your distribution list. To connect a group to StreamOnce, you need to be a group owner. You won't be able to select groups that you don't own while you're setting up the connection. Configuring StreamOnce To set up StreamOnce, install the StreamOnce app, connect it to your Jive community, and then connect it to a group. Before you start, check out the System Requirements and Getting Ready for StreamOnce Setup. To set up a connection: 1. Install the StreamOnce app from your Jive community. 2. Click Apps and launch the StreamOnce app. 3. Paste the activation code into the field provided and click Continue. 4. Under Bring More Content Into Your Groups, select the group where you want to stream content. If you don't see the group suggested, you can click on the field and then use typeahead search to find it. Note that you need to be a group administrator to select it. 5. Click Next. 6. Under Feed Type, select the type of content source you'll be streaming into Jive. a) If you're using Microsoft Exchange or Office365 as the source, provide your credentials and click Authenticate. b) If you're using a Google Group as the source, click Authenticate. Note that you need to select a Google Group that's part of a Google Apps corporate domain: individual Gmail accounts and the Groups they create are not supported. Provide your credentials if needed and click Connect. 7. Click Accept to allow StreamOnce to connect with your email source. 8. In the Distribution List field, type the address of the distribution list and click Connect. 9. Click Done.
Jive StreamOnce 5 10. Your distribution list is now connected to the Jive group. Send a test message to the list and make sure it shows up as a discussion in the connected group. Using a StreamOnce Group When you interact with a group connected to Jive StreamOnce, you can expect discussion replies to show up both in Jive and in the email distribution list. A Jive StreamOnce group is synchronized bidirectionally. You can expect the following behavior if you belong to the discussion list as well as the Jive community where the group lives: 1. New posts to the email distribution list will show up as new discussions in the Jive group. 2. Replies posted in the Jive group will be posted to the email list as replies to the entire list. 3. Replies posted in the email list and copied to the list address will be posted in the Jive group. 4. Replies posted in the email list that are sent only to the author of a discussion prompt or comment, but not to the list address, will be emailed to the recipient but not posted to the Jive group. 5. New discussions created in the Jive group will/will not be sent to the email distribution list as well.
