Matrix 5.0 Software Upgrade Note: When upgrading from a previous version of Matrix-TM you must first make a backup of your existing database. Refer to the how to backup a database document. Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2 and.net Framework 4 are required on Windows 7 computers to install Matrix-TM 5.0. You must first uninstall the current version of Matrix-TM that you are now running. To do this you must have local administrative rights. Note: If you wish to backup your item pictures and your item group pictures just copy the folder they are in to another location. The following are the location of the pictures. Item Pictures location: C:\Program Files\Matrix-TM\Images\ItemPictures Group Pictures location: C:\Program Files\Matrix-TM\Images\ItemPictures\ItemGroup To uninstall Matrix-TM. 1. Go to the control panel (Fig. 1) 2. Then Add or Remove Programs in XP. (Fig. 2) or Programs and Features in Windows 7. (Fig. 3) Fig. 1 Fig. 2 (For XP)

Fig. 3 (For Windows 7)

After Matrix is removed delete its program folder. In XP go to C:\ Program Files\Matrix-TM. In Windows 7 64-Bit go to C:\ Program Files (x86)\matrix-tm. Delete the folder Matrix-TM. Note: If you wish to backup your item pictures and your item group pictures. Just copy the Images folder they are in to another location. Delete Now you are ready to install Matrix-TM version 5.0. Double click the SetupAll.msi file. Once you start the installation you will see the following window. Click Next (Fig. 4) Fig. 4

Now if you are installing on the Matrix machine and the database resides on the Matrix machine you will want to have all boxes checked. NOTE: Remote computers do not require that Touch or Server to be installed. For remote computers check ONLY the following Install Manage box. Now click next Click Next Again. For Windows 7 64-Bit it will install in the C:\Program Files (x86)\matrix-tm folder.

Click Next Once the Matrix software is loaded the Server window will take you here. This step will install a Server and new ITM Database. In the Database Name box type ITM and select New Database by clicking on it. The database will be updated with the new features, but your data will be saved. Note: This will take a few minutes to complete so please be patient. This box will pop up. Click Yes.

After you have waited a while you will get to the finish point. Click Next Click Close to complete the installation. If you receive no errors proceed to Updating Database Manually. NOTE: If you are on an XP computer and you receive a server error during the server setup you may have to uninstall and reinstall Matrix and the Microsoft Desktop Server Engine(MSDE).

To uninstall go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove Matrix-TM and MSDE. Go to Program Files and delete the Microsoft SQL Server folder. During Server Setup you will choose New Database. To reinstall MSDE run the install.bat file in the MSDE folder provided. If you do not have it can be downloaded from the Matrix Website. Once MSDE and Matrix are reinstalled you will need to update the database to the current version. Updating Database Manually The database also needs to be updated manually after Matrix is installed. Go to the Start > Programs > Matrix-TM > Matrix-TM Tools > Matrix-TM Settings.

Once there you will see the settings that are currently set. Proceed to the next page to see the new settings. Now you will need to make the following changes. 1. User ID: ITM2005 2. Password: ITM 3. Database Name: Click the drop down box and select your database name. 4. Click OK 1 2 3 4

Now go back to Start > Programs > Matrix-TM > Matrix-TM Tools > Database Administration User Name: ctmsusr Password: rsusmtc Now click Login. This will open Database Administration. Important Note: If you neglected to make a backup at the beginning of this upgrade you are encouraged to wait no longer. Make a backup now! Once you complete this step and things do not go well you can not use this database with previous versions.

1. Verify that the Database name is your database name. 2. Select Restore Defaults 3. Click Restore Defaults (This will take a few minutes to complete) 1 2 3 Once completed you should receive the message at the bottom. If you received anything other than this you were not successful. Try again. If you did however complete this with success then close this window by clicking on the X. Now precede to the registration instructions.

When you were sent the link to download the upgrade menu you should have been sent a text document that contained your registration information. If you were not, stop now and send an email to isupply@iscarusa.com or call 704-588-9015 and ask about a registration code for Matrix-TM 5.0. If you have it, the text file contains your registration code. Follow these simple instructions to register. IMPORTANT: This must be done at the Matrix machine where the database resides. Start by going to the start menu and click on All Programs > Matrix-TM > Matrix-TM Tools > Matrix-TM Registration. The Matrix-TM Registration window should open. Now open the text file Your Company 5.0 License 5.0.txt. This will tell you what your code is. You can copy it as shown below or type it in. Once you have entered the code click the Next button. Copying is much easier than typing.

You should get a box telling you that Registration was successful. Click OK and you are done. If you got a message telling you that The serial number was not correct! go to the next page. If you did not get the Registration was successful message then you need to check a couple of things. 1. Go back and check your code. If you typed it in by hand you may have missed a character or two. Even if you pasted the code in you could have missed the first or last couple of characters. 2. You need to verify that the Server Name and Database Name are the same as what is in the Registration Code text file. If they are not the same then you should email isupply@isacrusa.com or call Iscar Metals Inc at 704-588- 9015 and ask for Matrix Support.
