Day 1: Lima An airport officer, properly identified, will be waiting for you with your name on a board. Later, he will take you to the hotel, during the way to the city of Lima he will tell you your itinerary and give you the most important information of the city. Once you are at the hotel, you will rest or enjoy its facilities. 1555. After the earthquake in 1746, the Cathedral was rebuilt on the same site under the direction of Jesuit priest Juan Rehr. Both its facade and interior are austere with its remarkable wooden choir stalls, altars and the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, who died in 1541. Later, you will visit the Church of San Francisco, its convent, Art Museum, cloisters and catacombs. Average Temperature : 22 C / 72 F Day 2: Lima You will visit colonial Lima, the Cathedral, located in the Main Square, it is in the same place as the original building of Afterwards, you will have a panoramic view of the Main Square with the Government Palace, the Municipal Hall, the Desamparados Train Station, and finally you will drive through the old streets, where you will have a view of traditional mansions and Moorish style balconies. You will then continue through classic and modern Lima. Finally, you will enjoy an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean. Overnight. At appropriate time, you will be transferred to the bus station to board your regular bus or private car to Paracas (depending of the selected service), located approximately 4 hours south of Lima. Later, at a coordinated time, you will be transferred to the bus station to board your regular bus to Lima, (or private transfer to Lima depending of the selected service). Activity of the Day : Ballestas Island Excursion (Group service - 2 hours) Meals : Breakfast Accommodation : Selected Hotel Altitude : Sea Level Average Temperature : 22 C / 72 F Day 5: Lima - Cusco Flight Lima - Cusco Morning 1 hour 30 min This morning, return to the airport for your 1 and a half hour flight, over the Andes Mountains to Cusco, the heart of the Inca Empire. You are met at the airport in Cusco and transfer to your hotel. Day 4: Paracas - Ballestas Island - Lima After breakfast, take your two hour boat trip to the famed Ballestas Islands Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight. In the afternoon, you will be picked up from your hotel, and you will start the City Tour visiting Cusco s Historical Inca and Spanish Colonial Monuments, such as the Main Square, known in Inca times
as Huacaypata or the Warrior s Square; it was the scene for many key events in Cusco s history. After, you will visit the surrounding ruins of the city of Cusco: Sacsayhuamán, this huge Inca fortress is built on three overlapping platforms, each of them over 360 m long. Then, onto Tambomachay, known as the Inca baths. It was apparently a site dedicated to the worship of water and a resting place for the Inca monarch. Kenko, it is said to have been a worship site. There is a huge 5, 9 m high stone block that looks like a puma. There are also passages, canals and stairways with stone engravings representing animals. Finally, Puca Pucará, which was an administrative and military centre formed by terraces, stairways, passages, turrets and vaulted niches. Average Temperature : 16 C / 61 F Day 6: Cusco - Sacred Valley In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and will head east, towards the archaeological complex of Pisac, a journey which takes approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes. Once inside the archaeological complex of Pisac, the guide will give a brief explanation of the site, then you will be able to appreciate the Andean terraces, which were built to expand agriculture land, containment terraces and paths. Then you will proceed to the artisan market of Pisac, where you will have the opportunity to interact with local people and appreciate their craftsmanship. Next on the itinerary is Urubamba, a 1 hour trip, in which you will be able to enjoy the scenery of the Sacred Valley. You will visit the local market where you can see the different types of products and fruit that are grown locally. Time to lunch in Urubamba and after traveling for 25 minutes, you will reach the town of Ollantaytambo, which has a distinct Inca urban planning. Finally, you will be transferred to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. Overnight. : Visit the archaeological complex Activity of the Day of Pisac & The Pisac Market (Group service/private - 8 hours) Accommodation : Selected Hotel Meals : Breakfast - Lunch Altitude : 2,800 m.a.s.l. / 9,187 ft. Average Temperature : 16 C / 61 F Day 7: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu - Cusco Train Ollanta - Machu Picchu Tourist Class AM 2 hours Train Machu Picchu - Poroy Tourist Class AM 3 hours After breakfast, you will be transferred to the train station to board the Tourist Class Train to Machu Picchu. This archaeological site was hidden for centuries, until it came to light during the early 1900s, by the discoverer Hiram Bingham.
Lima Cusco Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes, reception at the train station and transfer uphill to Machu Picchu (approximately 20 minutes). On arrival to Machu Picchu you will begin your tour of the Citadel where you will appreciate the history of this enigmatic place. The citadel was built on a very special spot covered in vegetation between two mountains: the Machu Picchu (old mountain) and Huayna Picchu (young mountain), at the foot of which meanders the Urubamba or Vilcanota River (lower Jungle featuring abundant flora and fauna).
