Zimlets Zimlets are webservices for integrating Zimbra with third party information systems and content. Zimlets are used as well to "mash-up" user interfaces within the Zimbra collaboration suite itself. With Zimlets, arbitrary message content can be made live by linking it with web content and services on intranets or the Internet. No more cutting and pasting from email to browser. "Mousing" over actionable content gives the user a real-time preview (subject to security constraints) that can be factored in decision making. VNC has extensive experience with the development and implementation of Zimlet technology and is one of the leading Zimbra partners worldwide. VNC has developed a series of Zimlets (add-ons for Zimbra) for various customer projects. Some of these Zimlets available in the Zimbra Gallery (http://gallery.zimbra.com). VNC provides a wide range of consulting, planning and engineering services for Commercial Open Source and cloud based software. VNC employs highly qualified software experts, systems specialists, application developers, designers and business consultants. Functional Zimlets VNC PDF Zimlet The VNC Email2PDF allows its users to convert any email to the PDF format. The easy drag & drop functionality simplifies the process of converting emails to the PDF format and gives the option to convert single emails as well as multiple emails. For this Zimlet the format of the email doesn't matter, the Zimlet can convert plaintext and also HTML formatted emails. Converted emails can be saved e.g. on the PC or in the VNCsafe. VNC History Zimlet The VNC Mail History Zimlet allows users to track sent emails. Shows history of recipient email like delivery, moved mail, deleted mail and stores this information. Allows sender to get history of internal and external domains. Displays mail history in tabular format. Prints the mail history. Does not show the history to the recipient of the sent emails. Mail history view while drag & drop emails from the sent box. Mail history is displayed after sending an email. Only internal domain move events will be captured. VNC Click-2-Dial Zimlet The VNC Click-2-Dial Zimlet provides an integration to the VoIP services Placetel & SIPGate. Once the Zimlet has been deployed and configured users will be able to make calls by simply hovering their mouse over any telephone number and click. The Zimlet will then dial the number autocratically. One click to dial any national an international phone number. Admin based configuration User based configuration (optional) Please note: The used telephone numbers need a country code. VNC Fax Zimlet The VNC Fax Zimlet is used to send PDF files to any fax number available in the users Zimbra address book and of course for manually added numbers. The fax number can also be added by a drag & drop functionality out of the address book. This Zimlet fastens the communication process via fax, because no further hardware except the PC and an internet connection is necessary to send a fax to customers, partners or coworkers. A coherent formatted email signature for every employee in a company provides a clear and corporate appearance. The Zimlet uses the information given by LDAP and Zimbra user information, specific information first: The administrator adds the selected variables for the signature and the Zimlet will add the selected variable names in the given structure to every outgoing email. If there is no specific information to find, the Zimlet will add general information about the company, given by the administrator. The Zimlet supports not only text information, graphics like logos or marketing material can also be added in the signature. 7
The Zimlet allows a wide range of variable names as name of the user and contact information (e.g. address, phone, fax and pager number etc.) as well as state and country. With this information the Zimlet is able to add a detailed signature to every outgoing email in a clear and corporate scheme for plain text as well as HTML formatted emails. VNC Briefcase Notification Zimlet The Briefcase Notification Zimlet provides a perfect solution for sharing a briefcase folder to multiple users. The Zimlet sends a notification email when other users upload any kind of document in the shared folder. The Briefcase Notification Zimlet uses Zimbra's default sharing functionality which provides a user access control level functionality. The Zimlet also offers selection options where the user can select the folders from the shared folder list for which he requires notification emails. This Zimlet is currently in development. Email notification for accepted or rejected folders. Clear hierarchical folder tree list with different filters. User will get a notification based on ACL policies and selected folder list. The user can set notifications for certain shared folders. VNC Text Suggestion Zimlet The VNC Text Suggestion Zimlet is used to define certain text elements, phrases and words by key/value pair. While composing an email the user receives live suggestions for his words from the defined pool. The most matching suggestion will be displayed at the top of the list. This Zimlet is currently in development. Separate view for defining text elements, phrases and words in key/value pair. Live suggestion while composing an email. Pressing Enter while top suggestion is selected will insert the object into the email text. 8
VNC WebODF Zimlet The VNC WebODF offers a rich user interface to edit.odt files stored in the Zimbra Briefcase in the Zimlet view. The Zimlet supports a live multi user editing functionality, where documents can be shared to multiple users and all users can edit the same document right at the same time. The VNC WebODF Zimlet enables the user to create new documents which will be stored in the respective briefcase folder. This Zimlet is currently in development. VNCportal for Zimbra (Zimlet) The VNCportal Zimlet allows users to store incoming email attachments from Zimbra to the VNCportal as well as archive any email. Users can also perform a search within Zimbra for content found in the VNCportal and select one or more files to attach to outgoing emails as well as insert content as the body of an email. VNCcast Zimlet This Zimlet is necessary to view the VNCportal cast directly in Zimbra. Getting news and discussions alive without changing browser tabs is easy with this Zimlet. The user can not only read the cast, every functionality which is given in the VNCportal cast can be used in this Zimlet, too. The cast can be selected by topics, the user can add or delete his own comments, follow, like or share specific postings and he can send e.g. a specific cast topic to other users via email. VNCtalk Zimlet VNCtalk can be used conveniently by chat, audio or video. Conversation groups can consist of two or more members and new conversation partners can be invited easily at any time. VNCtalk can easily be integrated with existing web applications such as web sites, web mailers or intranet portals like the VNCportal oder VNCmail. For integration in Zimbra, users can select either the full-size video view or a small chat view which enables quick on-topic conversations without having to leave the current view or page, including the chat window and the contact list. VNCtalk uses WebRTC and XMPP to provide a powerful video chat solution with maximum security. VNCproject Zimlet The VNCproject Zimlet integrates VNCproject based upon Redmine within Zimbra. With this Zimlet the users are able to configure their Redmine account. The user can view and filter all his assigned issues in a separate tab for the dashboard view of Redmine. The Zimlet provides also an easy way to create new issues or edit existing tickets like changing assignee, due date, subject, status etc. The VNCproject Zimlet users can respond and open Redmine tickets directly in a Zimbra tab and can login via Auth or SAML.. This Zimlet is currently in development. Separate tab to display VNCproject contents. Dashboard similar to My Page in VNCproject. Views all issues assigned to the user. Core Zimbra Source Code Packaging ZCS Package Management System (zmpkg) Zmpkg is used to pack the zimlets delivered as zipped files into debian packages, what makes the installation of the zimlets way more comfortable. With these tool the installation as well as updates become easier and avoid errors. Zmpkg provides a generic dpkg/apt-based package management facility for deployment extensions within a Zimbra instance. It also provides a set of utilities for building packages. To install the zimlets with this packet manager is more comfortable than installing it via the single files in the zipped archives. Its main components are: Frontends to the Debian package management tools for usage within a Zimbra instance.
