CATEGORY 4 ARTS GRANTS WHY ARE THESE FUNDS PROVIDED? The City s arts grants support the development delivery of arts projects that enliven and benefit the City of Fremantle for both the local community and visitors. Applications are encouraged from individuals, incorporated groups and organisations. Applications are encouraged from all areas of creative practice which have a fully realised public outcome that occurs within the City of Fremantle. Phone: 9432 9725 Email: grantfunding@fremantle.wa.gov.au WHEN DO THE FUNDING ROUNDS CLOSE? 28 February and 31 July each year. HOW MUCH CAN I APPLY FOR? A total funding pool of $25,000 is available for this category in each round. The selection panel may allocate all or some of these funds to one or more projects. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA This funding category is assessed based on the following criteria. You must address these criteria in your application. 1. New Ideas (40%) The project reflects new arts practices new ideas and fresh presentation. Challenging. The project activates the City in interesting and engaging ways. The project uses new or under-utilised locations in the Fremantle Central Business District (CBD) or suburbs. New collaborations. 2. Feasibility (40%) There is a realistic and achievable budget. Participating lead artists are cited in the application and their participation is confirmed. Ability to deliver the project within the timeline. Venue costs are clear and a written quote is provided by the venue. Appropriate partnerships or other funding. Project is safe for artists and the public. 3. Benefits the City of Fremantle and meets the strategic intent of the City (20%). The City s strategic plan can be found here. The outcome of the art project delivers a benefit to the Fremantle community and contributes positively to the image of the City. BUDGET Included below is an example of a simple budget template that can be used for your application. The more comprehensive the detail in your application the better. Please also feel free to use your own existing budget template, but ensure that you consider and include all of the following information. OTHER INCOME The City actively encourages you to include potential other funding sources in your budget. If these funding sources are not yet confirmed, please include a TBC note in the notes column. IN KIND INCOME You may be receiving support from other organisations or individuals, who are offering goods or services free of charge to your organisation. Please include this in both your income and expenditure columns, with an in kind note in the notes column. THE CITY S CONTRIBUTION Please indicate in the notes section, what costs you would like the City to cover as part of your application. Please read the General Eligibility Criteria document and note expenses that City contributions are unable to cover. ELIGIBILITY CHECKLIST Please refer to the General Eligibility Criteria document, which applies in addition to the following. Activities must occur Within the boundaries of the City of Fremantle Who can apply? Incorporated groups Incorporated organisations Individuals INELIGIBILITY In addition to the general eligibility criteria, projects will also be deemed ineligible if they fall into one of the following categories. Activities, projects, programs and events that have already been funded through the City of Fremantle programs or through an existing funding agreement with the City of Fremantle. City of Fremantle employees. Projects that do not culminate in a fully realised public outcome. Projects that are commonly understood in the arts sector context to be Research and Development with a studio or work-in-progress showing will not be funded. Interstate/international travel and accommodation. Projects that are part of an accredited course of study. HOW TO SUBMIT All submissions must be received by 5pm on the closing date via email to: grantfunding@fremantle.wa.gov.au Please endeavour to submit your applications well before the deadline to ensure your application is received in time.
