.1 Year 2015/2016 Organization Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering Education Pre-Master Material Science and Engineering HBO Doorstroomprogramma MSE 2015 Program Coordinator Dr.ir. M. Janssen Contact for students Introduction 1 Drs. Lourdes Gallastegui Schakel-3mE@tudelft.nl Students holding an appropriate bachelor's degree of a polytechnic institute (TH) can be admitted to the master's programme Materials Science and Engineering. These students are expected to possess a basic understanding of mathematics. The Board of Examiners is responsible for the selection. A number of additional modules must be taken before entering the actual master's programme. Students are first admitted to a pre-master's programme, comprising of modules on mathematics, materials science and physical transport phenomena. Admission to the master's programme is given after completing this pre-master's programme. The modules, which are taught in, are listed in the table below. The total size of the pre-master's programme is 23 EC. TH Bachelors are exempted from the 6 EC worth of elective modules in the master's programme. This means that the entire study programme for TH Bachelors amounts to 23 + 120-6 = 137 EC. It is not allowed to participate in MSc courses before the Pre-Master's programme is completed. Final admission to the MSc is granted after completing the Pre-Master's programme. Page 2 of 5
