Students are expected to attend all courses and course activities for which they are registered. Any class meeting missed, regardless of cause, reduces the opportunity to learn and may adversely affect a student s achievement in the course. Therefore, I will be keeping an accurate record of attendance. If a student misses one- third or more of a class, the student will be counted absent. Three tardies will count as one absence, Leaving early is the same as being tardy. PALM BEACH STATE COLLEGE Each absence subtracts 5 points from the grade. More than 4 absences will cause the 3

student to fail the course unless there is extenuating circumstances. In such cases, documentation must be given to the professor. Each time a student is tardy it will subtract 5 points from the student s final grade as well. Electronic Device Use and Email Policy: You are permitted to bring laptop computers and tape recorders to class. The learning process requires the student s attention. Ringing cell phones are disruptive to this learning process. They may not to be used during the classroom time. Please turn off cell phone before class begins. Students who do not turn off these devices and receive calls/texts/pages during class room time will have their grade dropped one letter grade. There will be no exceptions to this rule. If you have an important event and need to answer your phone, please leave the class to do so. Please do not text or play with your phone during lectures and class time. It is disruptive to your learning process. Your grade will be dropped by one letter grade if you are caught texting or playing with your phone during the scheduled class time. Late Assignment Policy: Assignments, quizzes or exams are not accepted after due date unless prior authorization has been granted by the instructor. Make- up Exam Policy: Professor must be contacted prior to missing an exam to authorize a make- up date. Withdrawal Policy: The last day to withdraw from a College course with a "W" grade in this course is April 6, 2016 with no refund. It is the responsibility of the student to use the PantherWeb system or visit a campus Registrar s office to withdraw. An official withdrawal entitles the student to a grade of "W" in the class. February 5, 2016 is the last day to drop with full refund. Computer Competency Component Each student will, to the satisfaction of the professor, demonstrate a fundamental understanding of basic computer operations through various professor- determined exercises and/or assignments. Final Course Grade Appeal The evaluation of academic work is the responsibility of the faculty member/instructor. The method for assigning the final course grade is established by the faculty member/instructor. Per Board Rule 6Hx- 18-3.191, faculty/instructors shall communicate the grading policy of the course to their students in writing. If this policy changes during the term, students should be notified of any changes in writing.
