PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 WORK INCLUDED A. Provide all labor, materials and equipment and services to perform operations required for the complete installation and related work as required in Contract Documents. 1.3 GENERAL DESCRIPTION A. Provide all equipment, accessories, programming, etc. for a complete electrically supervised intrusion detection system as described herein and as shown on the Contract Documents. Overall system engineering, layout and equipment installation shall be provided by an authorized representative of the equipment manufacturer. These specifications and associated drawings are intended to be used as a guideline. B. Equipment and accessories furnished under the terms of this Specification shall be the standard products of a single manufacturer where possible. The names of manufacturers and attendant model numbers are given to establish a standard of quality and performance. C. The main control panel shall be a microprocessor-based universal burglar, fire, hold-up supervisory control digital communicator. D. The systems shall be UL listed as follows: 1. UL 1635 Digital Burglar Alarm Communicator System. 2. NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm Code. 1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION A. Provide a complete Intrusion Detection system with the performance criteria detailed in this specification. The system shall be inclusive of all necessary functions, monitoring, and control capability as detailed herein. System shall be monitored by Amherst Alarm (716) 632-4600; info@amherstalarm.com. B. The system shall be capable of operation by 30 unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) codes with each code having one (1) of four user profiles Standard, Limited, Scheduled & Master. This allows for limitation of certain functions to authorized users. The operation of all keypads shall be limited to authorized users. The Control Communicator shall be capable of transmitting up to sixteen characters for the user s name to the central station receiver. C. This specification document describes the requirements for the programming, and configuration of an Intrusion Detection system. This system shall include, but not be limited to: 1. Control panel(s) 2. Integrated Network Communication 3. Integrated Wireless Receiver 4. Cellular Add-on Communication Modules (CDMA or HSPA+) 5. System cabinet 6. Power supplies 7. Digital Signaling Line Circuits (SLC) 8. Annunciator/keypad bus 9. Batteries 10. Wiring 11. Associated peripheral devices 12. Other relevant components and accessories required to furnish and install a complete and operational addressable reporting Intrusion Detection System. 1.5 SUBMITTALS A. Complete equipment list including quantities. Catalog descriptive literature for all equipment. Riser Wiring Diagram showing all devices, wire quantities and sizes. Typical Terminal Wiring Diagrams for each type of device. Terminal Wiring Diagram for the control panel. Calculations, including actual equipment loads used to derive battery backup amperehour rating. Submittals that fail to comply with the requirements described will be rejected. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 INTRUSION DETECTION CONTROLLER A. The intrusion detection controller system areas and zones shall be programmable, and the system shall store, log, display, and transmit specific custom designations for system areas, zones, and user names. B. The system shall support user interaction by way of a keypad, web browser, system software, key switch, or radio frequency wireless control, using integrated or auxiliary devices provided by the system manufacturer. C. The system shall support controller zone input connections, system keypads, system zone expansion modules, and wireless zone input modules, and must support zone input connection. The system shall offer a seamless integrated compatibility with hardwire and/ or wireless zone expansion equipment for at least 28 wireless zones and/ or a maximum of 30 hardwired zones. D. System relay outputs shall have the capability of being triggered as a result of a command from the user interface, changes in system status, changes in zone status, or by a programmable schedule. E. System relay output states shall be programmable for momentary, maintained, pulsed, or must follow the state of an associated system zone input. F. The system shall be completely programmable either locally from a keypad or remotely through a standard dial-up, and network connections by way of a LAN, WAN, and/or by way of the Internet. G. The control unit shall be completely programmable remotely using remote annunciators, and/ or using upload/ download software that communicates using dialup or IP Addressed data network. 2.2 CONTROL PANEL A. The Control panel shall be capable of expanding to a total of 30 user codes. B. Eight (8) independent door/keypad addresses, each with four zones. C. Event buffer of at least 100 events. D. A total of at least 4 programmable hardwired and 8 wireless output relays. Project No. 2015016.00 281600-3
E. Six (6) reporting areas. F. Built-in programmer. G. Virtual Keypad App for iphone, ipad, or Android Device for control of the security system. 2.3 KEYPADS A. The system shall support a maximum of eight (8) keypads with alphanumeric display. Each keypad shall be capable of arming and disarming any system area based on a pass code or Proximity key authorization. The keypad alphanumeric display shall provide complete prompt messages during all stages of operation and system programming and display all relevant operating and test data. B. Communication between the control panel and all keypads and zone expanders shall be multiplexed over a non-shielded multi-conductor cable, as recommended by the manufacturer. This cable shall also provide the power to all keypads, zone expanders, output expanders, and other power consuming detection devices. C. If at any time a keypad does not detect polling, the alphanumeric display shall indicate "SYSTEM TROUBLE". If at any time a keypad detects polling but not for its particular address, the alphanumeric display shall indicate "NON POLLED ADDR". The system shall display all system troubles at selected keypads with distinct alphanumeric messages. D. The keypad shall include self-test diagnostics enabling the installer to test all keypad functions: display test, key test, zone test, LED test, relay test, tone test, and address test. E. The keypad shall provide an easy-to-read English text display. The text shall exactly match the text seen in all software reports, keypad displays, and central station reports. F. The keypad user interface shall be a simple-to-use, menu-driven help system that is completely user friendly. G. The control panel shall support a keypad interface accessible on the World Wide Web in a browser window. The web-accessible keypad interface shall provide at least five (5) programmable hyperlinks for camera access or other use. Project No. 2015016.00 281600-4
2.4 INPUT/OUTPUT CAPACITY A. This system shall be capable of monitoring a maximum of 30 individual zones and controlling a maximum of 12 output relays. B. The control panel shall have, as an integral part of the assembly, four open collector outputs rated at 50mA each or 4 Form C relays, or 8 wireless relays. 2.5 COMPONENT ENCLOSURE A. Housings, power supply enclosures, terminal cabinets, control units, and other component housings, collectively referred to as enclosures shall be so formed and assembled as to be sturdy and rigid. If sheet steel is used in the fabrication of enclosures, it shall be not less than an 18-gauge door with a 20-gauge box frame. Where exposed pins, the hinges shall be of the tight pin type or the ends of hinge pins shall be tack welded to prevent ready removal. Doors having a latch edge length of less than 24 inches shall be provided with a single lock. 2.6 ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS A. All system electronic components shall be solid-state type, mounted on printed circuit boards. Light duty relays and similar switching devices shall be solid-state type or electromechanical. B. The panel shall have an over current notification LED that lights when devices connected to the Keypad Bus draw more current than the panel is rated for. When the over current LED lights, the Keypad bus shall shut down. 2.7 MAGNETIC DOOR CONTACTS A. Type 1 shall be a nominal 3/4 in. diameter concealed magnetic contact intended primarily for use in steel doors. Both switch and magnet shall be isolated from surrounding steel. Contacts shall be plated to prevent sticking and cold welding and to ensure reliability. Contacts shall be SPDT rated 3 watts maximum at 28 VDC. Make: Sentrol Model No. 1076CW or approved equivalent. B. Type 2 shall be overhead door type for mounting at top of door. Contacts shall be SPDT, and a range of gap distances shall be provided. Switch and magnet case shall be enclosed in an aluminum housing. Wiring shall be enclosed in armored cable. Make: Sentrol Model No. 2507A or approved equivalent. Project No. 2015016.00 281600-5
C. Type 3 shall be the same as Type 2 above, except installed on exterior hinged doors with heavy steel frames. Make: Sentrol Model No. 2507A or approved equivalent. 2.8 CONTROL UNIT A. Battery tests shall be automatically performed to test the integrity of the standby battery. The test shall disconnect the standby battery from the charging circuit and place a load on the battery. B. The control unit shall be capable of operating and supervising notification appliance devices as well as addressable initiating detection devices, integrated wireless receiver, integrated cellular communicator, and integrated network communications. C. Control unit must be Flash ROM updatable, and program must be held in non-volatile RAM. D. Control Panel shall have the ability for integrated built-in Network Communications, CDMA or HSPA+ Cellular Communication Add-on Modules, and two-way 900 MHz Spread Spectrum wireless communications to two-way wireless initiating devices. 2.9 POWER SUPPLIES A. Power supplies for the control unit shall operate from 120 VAC. Standby batteries shall be supplied to power the system in the event of a utility power failure. Batteries shall be sized to provide 100% capacity for eight hours. Standby batteries shall be sealed lead-acid. Power supplies shall be all Solid State. B. Controls shall be designed to maintain full battery charge when alternating current is available. Batteries shall be recharged to 85% capacity within 24 hours from battery use. The system shall be automatically transferred to battery power upon loss of alternating current power and return to alternating current power upon restoration. Intrusion alarms shall not be initiated during switch over; a signal shall be initiated upon failure of battery or alternating current power. C. Approved power supplies shall meet or exceed the following power supply model specifications: UL Listed, 12VDC 5 amp with transformer and enclosure. Project No. 2015016.00 281600-6
2.10 SOFTWARE A. The system shall interface with computer software with the capability to fully program the panel by connecting to the panel through: B. Standard phone line connection C. Ethernet network connection D. Network connection across the Internet E. The system shall interface with computer software capable of monitoring and logging all events. F. The system shall interface with computer software capable of exporting reports in the following file formats: Excel spreadsheet (.xls) Text (.txt) Rich Text (.rtf) Comma-separated (.csv) Windows Metafile (.wmf) HTML document (.htm) QuickReport (.qrp) G. The system shall interface with computer software capable of printing custom, filtered reports including: All Events, Opening/Closing Schedule Changes, Area Late to Close, User Code Changes, System Events, etc. 2.11 DESIGN MAKE A. DMP XLT Series Intrusion Detection Systems. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION - EQUIPMENT A. Installation shall be accomplished in a professional manner by qualified personnel regularly engaged in and experienced in this type of work. Installation shall conform to UL and FM requirements, and shall be in strict accordance with manufacturer's installation manuals. B. Install all wiring in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. No ground loops can be tolerated. Ground only at one point as recommended by equipment manufacturer. Safes will be predrilled for wiring entrances. C. All wiring shall be stranded copper and installed as a separate and segregated system. No "tee-taps" are allowed. Project No. 2015016.00 281600-7
D. Minimum #18 AWG for initiating circuits, larger as recommended by equipment supplier. Minimum #14 AWG for signaling circuits. Utilize twisted shielded pair cables where recommended by equipment manufacturer. E. Arrange for a 120 volt, 20 ampere circuit to be brought to the Intrusion Detection Control Panel and other locations where required for proper system operation. Coordinate with Electrical Contractor. F. All 120 volt wiring shall be installed in separate conduit. G. Adjust the protection range or all sensing device so that an unprotected area from the floor level up to six inches above floor level is maintained. Also aim sensing devices to provide area coverage as required by Owner in the field. H. Detection and initiating equipment shall be listed by UL or FM. I. Intrusion Detection System equipment supplier shall provide complete wiring diagrams as part of the shop drawing submittal. An authorized representative of the manufacturer shall supervise the installation in order to insure a complete operating and trouble-free system. J. Coordinate with Owners monitoring service (Amherst Alarm) and provide communication cabling as per manufacturer and monitor service requirements. K. Provide 3 sets of all keys for all panels, stations, and devices. 3.2 PROGRAMMING A. Include in bid the cost to cover all system programming, including items particular to this project (such as custom zone descriptions, time delay settings, sensitivity settings, etc.) such that entire system is 100% complete and operating to the Owner's satisfaction. Coordinate all system programming with the Owner. Also, provide remote programming of the system a minimum of once during the guarantee period to allow for holiday schedule whereby all points will report to the receiver for a predetermined time period, and to provide changes requested by the Owner. 3.3 TESTING A. Submit a written test report from an authorized representative of the equipment manufacturer that the system has been 100% tested and approved. Final test shall be witnessed by Owner, Engineer, Intrusion Detection Systems Contractor and performed by equipment supplier. Final test report must be received and acknowledged by the Owner prior to request for final payment. B. Provide a minimum of four hours of instruction to the Owner with regard to use and operation of system. C. Provide quarterly inspections during warranty period. 3.4 WARRANTY A. Entire system shall be warranted against equipment failure and installation defects for a period of one (1) year from the date of acknowledged Owner acceptance of final test. 3.5 RECORD DRAWINGS. A.
