Our Oil Leaks Issue 23 September 2011 INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Wow Visit photos 2 Run to the Sun 3 New Mag available 4 Upcoming Events 6 WOW visit by John Baty It was great to see a good attendance by club members for the visit to the WOW museum on last Saturday afternoon. Since my last visit four years ago it was good to get an update on the amazing range of pristine cars that are on show locally, at what must be, a world class venue. For the first time, for me, it was good to catch up on the additional show vehicles and also to tour the restoration workshop at the back of the complex where three full time specialists are employed. One of their staff was on hand to give us an interesting account of the work they do and the cars currently being repaired. Of particular interest (for us as VW addicts) was the full repaint and recondition of a 1970 era Karmann Ghia hardtop and a rare 1973 Beetle GT car that was on display. During the coffee break we all had the opportunity to discuss the request from the Otago Club for feedback on the criteria to be used for the future judging of the vehicles that are entered at the Nationals. It was pleasing to hear that a large group of our club members are planning to head south next Easter to attend the Dunedin Nationals. If accommodation is required at, or near, the Dunedin Holiday Camp venue it would be a good idea to book now - we have! A special thanks to Vince for arranging another very enjoyable club event.

Page 3 ISSUE 23 Run to the Sun Cuxhaven, Germany by Ludwig Evertz Hi Keri and all my friends in New Zealand! From far away Germany I send you some pictures and impressions from my favourite V-dub meeting. It's called Run To The Sun, but it should be renamed as Run To The Rain. 3 days in Cuxhaven in the very north of Germany, next to Bremerhaven. You'll find it easily on your map. With my wife Larissa I turned up third time at this get-together of VW-maniacs. On Friday rain was pouring all day long. But the next day the weather and the mood turned into euphoric. The fairground was nearly filled up with about 200 V-dubs! Beatles, Buggy's, T1 & T2 buses and in between my Woodstock piece of jewellery. What a beautiful day and a breath-taking drive all along the coastline. About 180 vehicles enjoyed this run to the sun 2011. And surely will do next year. I hope you like the pictures without a trace of jealousy. You got the sun in New Zealand, but we got the V-dubs in extensive numbers. We all share the love and enthusiasm for the old VW branded cars. By the way: Sunday started with heavy rains and a mass escape after a wetly breakfast. With kind regards Ludwig & Larissa
