AFCI is pleased to announce that bids are now being accepted from qualified film commission and affiliate members interested in hosting Cineposium 2017. As part of a rotation cycle, the conference is eligible to be hosted anywhere in the world. For more than 40 years, AFCI has hosted Cineposium, an education based conference and platform for film commissions across the globe. It s an opportunity for AFCI Members to brainstorm solutions, learn, and seek answers to any challenges they face in an ever-evolving industry. Topics such as: tax incentives, alternate forms of funding, workforce development, lobbying vs. education, insurance and safety issues, internal and external marketing, film festivals and film-related tourism, and working with different cultures are discussed and dissected at the annual event. Cineposium holds the distinction as the only conference specifically focused on education for film commission professionals. Over the past 40 years, Cineposium has earned recognition as the premiere conference for film commissioners and the entertainment industry, sharing knowledge and experiences in a collaborative atmosphere. thebid Bids for the 41st edition of the international conference should suggest a compelling topic from their region, robust enough for multiple days of seminars, on which the programming will be built. Recent topics have included film tourism and infrastructure development. Film commissions represent more than $3 billion annually in funding support for media production. This supports an industry with an estimated global economic impact of $88.3 billion annually. The AFCI membership, representing more than 45 countries, is at the forefront of this economic sector. No other organization can connect you with production partners around the globe as easily as AFCI. thepurpose The purpose of Cineposium is to educate AFCI members and their associated colleagues on current trends and topics, while inspiring cooperation, creativity and success at an international level. The event includes two days of speakers, panels and industry dialogue. In addition to the conference, AFCI will offer one to two days of workshops on advanced topics for film commissioners and fundamental film-related workshops for regional production liaisons.

It is important that the event be well organized, well publicized and efficient. The AFCI staff will work closely with the host to develop engaging programming that reflects film, media and tourism perspectives. T he host-proposed topic will establish Cineposium s 2017 host as a leader amongst peers, a forward thinker in their region and the production community in general. Attention and increased profile of the host s local officials, industry executives and community decision-makers Provides local stakeholders increased understanding of the film commission and the industry s role in economic development of the creative industries Education and networking for regional partners, liaisons and contacts Reinvigorated and inspired staff and Boards of film offices and tourism agencies Significant opportunity for networking and relationship-building with film commission and executive colleagues from around the world Increased international visibility through showcasing your location to production and economic development industries, and by providing a great experience for attendees to share around the world Global attention as the event is marketed and publicized worldwide via AFCI Immediate financial impact to the local community with 200-250 conference attendees patronizing local businesses thecommitment The financial commitment to host AFCI Cineposium 2017 includes a minimum cash support of $100,000 USD, and a guarantee of sponsorships or in-kind contributions amounting to $50,000 USD, for a total contracted investment of $150,000 USD. The host must be prepared to allocate significant staff and/or volunteers to work with the AFCI staff. This will include tasks involving hotel and event venues, transportation, local service providers, extending information to local stakeholders, providing local information important to attendees and other logistical needs before, during and after the conference. These commitments have been carefully based on actual feedback from previous Cineposium hosts about the realistic resources used. For the best experience and to be considerate to all involved, AFCI desires to be open and transparent with the commitments required.

therequirements Any AFCI Member or Affiliate Member, or Members, in good standing may bid to host Cineposium. Attendance to a previous AFCI Cineposium is required. The successful proposal will meet or address the following: A conference topic that is unique to your area, or a topic that your area wishes to learn more about. The topic must be substantial enough to support multiple days of educational sessions and of interest to the international AFCI membership The required time, logistical and financial support of the host(s) Conference dates between September 1 November 15. Dates should consider weather/climate, worldwide industry events/markets/festivals, local industry events, religious holidays, etc. Accessibility (45-minute maximum travel distance) to an international airport with direct flights from major international cities, and reasonable connections to other cities Facilities to accommodate up to 250 attendees, including VIPs, in classroom, reception and banquet style arrangements: Two ballrooms or event space equivalent Four breakout rooms (capacity: 100) 250+ guest rooms, including VIP accommodations Private event room for receptions (capacity: 60) Catering options for quality food and beverage Civic resources from which to invite speakers, obtain sponsors, draw attendees and otherwise improve the conference experience: Existing production community Film schools Business schools Established Tourism destination and local highlights Information regarding lodging, transportation, local events, attractions and dining, shipping, exhibiting and necessary community resources (medical facilities, international banking, etc.) Ability to market and promote the conference to regional leaders and industry Additional consideration will be given to hosts able to schedule the conference near another industry event, such as a market, festival or similar Ability to market and promote the conference to local leaders and industry Additional consideration will be given to hosts able to schedule the conference near another industry event, such as a market, festival or similar tosubmit Proposal should be submitted as follows: Explain your offices interest in your proposed topic and in hosting Cineposium Identify and address your commission and partners ability to meet the above requirements Present potential hotels, conference venues and potential locations of social and networking activities. hostselection The Cineposium Site Selection Task Force will review all proposals submitted before the deadline. A written evaluation including a final recommendation will be provided to the AFCI Board of Directors for discussion and approval. The selected host will be required to enter into a written contract that includes the responsibilities and requirements of both the host and of the AFCI. The AFCI will announce the 2017 host at Cineposium 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
