To help manage this change the Business Transformation Portfolio (BTP) was instigated to ensure the right projects are being initiated in order to deliver our strategy, and to ensure that projects and programmes are being done in the right way. Role of Project Manager BTP The principal purpose of this role is to deliver large projects within the BTP; in particular this role will be responsible for delivering the Asset Management and Water Information projects on time, within budget and to the quality required.
Primary Functions 1. Project Management Effectively manage projects delivered through the BTP. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the quality required. Provide assistance to BTP Portfolio Manager and other managers within the area. Monitor, track and report progress of projects. 2. Teamwork/Corporate Responsibility Actively participate in team wide initiatives. Contribute to department and organisational planning. Work with other members of Business Solutions and relevant business teams. 3. Health & Safety Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment, report incidents and accidents as they occur and assisting with hazard identification. Competencies Academic / Professional Essential: Relevant project management qualifications Desirable: An understanding of the local government sector. Skills / Knowledge Essential: Leadership and organisational skill. Project and budget management skills. Very good verbal and written communication skills. Sound interpretative, analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and be fully responsible for setting and meeting own project targets. Desirable: High level of inter-personal skills in: People management and contract supervision Communication, consultation and negotiation Customer relations. A how can we make it happen? attitude. Work Experience At least 3 years project management experience. Contract management experience. Work will be on sites where exposure to hazards will be unavoidable. Safety procedures must be adhered to, protection being on the hierarchy safety principle of eliminate isolate minimise.
