CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAM

Our world is changing. People are coming together like never before with a shared passion for local and global change. People are more aware, more connected and more active! More and more consumers are choosing environmentally socially responsible products and services and are demanding dignity and opportunity for the poor. Organisations now require a strategy that is in tune with wider societal values and the public s new expectations of business. Authentic lasting social impact! Recent environmental catastrophes and unethical practices have lead business to be seen as a major contributor to social, environmental and economic problems. In response many organisations have introduced corporate responsibility programs but many have adopted a narrow model of economic value creation when it comes to employee engagement or social good. Perception and implementation of corporate social responsibility programs needs to change. Carbon offsets, planting a tree or donating ad hoc to local charities has minimal long-term impact externally or internally. The impact is not authentic. CSR programs need to be based upon long term shared valued relationships between brands and causes. Connect directly with your cause Children of the Mountain s in country projects are designed to ensure lasting sustainable impact and our Corporate Social Performance program is a value based program that connects organisations directly to a chosen cause and offers the opportunity to have positive measurable impact on the lives of children and the community we support. Effective engagement with employees and clients Children of the Mountain s Corporate Social Performance * program offers individuals the opportunity to be fully engaged active contributors to lasting change, while offering organisations genuine opportunity to engage colleagues, create shared value and foster exceptional consumer loyalty. We believe that experienced business leaders have a vital and central role to play to ensure lasting authentic change. * We refer to Corporate social responsibility programs as Corporate Social Performance programs as we believe it is critical to set objectives from the offset and thereafter measure the impact of any social investment.

HOW IT WORKS: 6 STEPS TO AUTHENTIC IMPACT! SUPPORT THE CAUSE Commit to adopting the cause of children in Nepal for a two year period, building a positive relationship between your brand, Children of the Mountain and the communities we support. The objective of year one is to fund your chosen project, and the objective of year two is to support longer term sustainability. CHOOSE YOUR PROJECT Together we decide which social objective you wish to achieve. You can choose a kindergarten, training teachers, educational technology or building your own school. SET YOUR TARGET We will together set a budget, campaign completion date and project commencement date. We will then provide the in country project management to ensure we maximise social return on your investment. LAUNCH CAMPAIGN We design a high impact innovative campaign to raise awareness of your chosen initiative. We help run the campaign to ensure you maximise community participation and employee engagement. WITNESS IMPACT Having raised funds for your cause, travel to Nepal to witness your impact and connect with the community you have supported. These journeys may include laying foundations for, or opening your school, or supporting educational development projects. SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING Choose a program to sponsor for a year. Report on your social investment, tell peers about your impact and encourage others to follow your lead!

CHOOSE YOUR PROJECT Our projects are designed to have lasting sustainable impact. We take care to treat disadvantaged communities with respect and dignity without creating an environment of dependency. We have a particular passion for the empowerment of children, young girls and women. Where appropriate we engage experienced implementation partners to deliver. BUILDING KINDERGARTENS AND SCHOOLS Closing the gap between access, quality and affordability in education is the most effective way to alleviate poverty for the next generation. We manage projects that provide educational infrastructure, and build teaching capacity to enable communities to invest in their own future. We minimise cost and ensure quality by managing kindergartens and schools projects ourselves. PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY We believe in enhancing teaching-learning in schools through providing uniform access to quality educational materials to all. Our e-enabling project provides innovative content rich technology to schools for low-income families and excluded communities. Our Impact partner is Ole Nepal. EMPOWERING AND PROTECTING ADOLESCENT GIRLS Girls are the most powerful force for change on the planet. Because educating young women provides them with the skills to lead and such leadership can have a major impact on alleviating poverty, our project provides life skills, builds confidence and empowers young women. Our Impact partner is Her Turn. TRAINING YOUNG WOMEN AS TEACHERS Women represent half of our communities and half of humanity. It s time to give them a turn and let women participate more fully in their communities, solve their problems, and decide their futures. We also believe that there is a critical need for more female teachers in schools in Nepal, to both lead the campaign towards creative learning and to act as role models. We combine both these ambitions by providing professional teacher training that empower women to have a positive impact on their families, communities, and society. Our Impact partner is ECEC.

SET YOUR TARGET* 2,000 A KINDERGARTEN IN A SCHOOL 3,000 TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM 5,000 GIRLS EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM 10,000 COMPUTERS FOR A SCHOOL 15,000 A SCHOOL BLOCK 30,000 BUILD A PRIMARY SCHOOL * YEAR ONE COSTS

CHOOSE A SPONSORSHIP KINDERGARTEN TEACHER Teachers salaries are funded by local government budgets from Grade 1. However, early years education and teachers are not included in the official curriculum. We recruit and train kindergarten teachers ourselves. We pay 80% of their salaries with the community paying 20%. 500 covers the cost of a teacher s salary for a year. TRAINEE TEACHER Often female school leavers miss out on the opportunity to further their education in college. Their years of efforts to educate themselves against the odds are wasted. We offer a limited number of places to female school leavers from Tandrang to attend college and train to be teachers; skills much needed in the community. 1,000 covers the full cost of a student teacher, inclusive of course fees, subsistence and rent, for a year. A SCHOOL The schools we support are government schools. However the school management have to find the funds for day to day upkeep, shortfall in books, and supplementary teaching materials. Uniforms and meals are also not covered by official budgets. We are always grateful for any support towards these recurring annual costs not covered by government funding. 2,000 covers books, creative learning materials, uniforms & hot meals for a year. THE CAUSE We commit 100% of every donation from individuals to fund building of schools or training of teachers or protecting young adults, so your corporate support towards our operating expenses is vital for our continued success. 3,000 covers the cost of a manager, a field operator, annual rent and operation expenses in Nepal for a year.
