EMSD Backgrund The Explratin Medical System Demnstratin (EMSD) is a prject under the Explratin Medical Capability (ExMC) element managed by the Human Research Prgram (HRP). The visin fr the EMSD is t utilize ISS as a test bed t shw that several medical technlgies needed fr an explratin missin and medical infrmatics tls fr managing evidence and decisin making can be integrated int a single system and used by the n-rbit crew in an efficient and meaningful manner. EMSD Needs Explratin missin medical care challenges include resurce and resupply cnstraints limiting the extent t which medical cnditins can be treated, the inability fr crew t evacuate t Earth during many missin phases, and rendering f medical care by a nn-clinician crew member. The EMSD is being develped t assist the Crew Medical Officers (CMO) in ptimizing medical care delivery in this setting. Overview f Operatinal Cncept The Operatinal Cncept presents an end-t-end EMSD fr an explratin class missin t a NEA. EMSD Status The peratinal cncept review (OCR) was held Sept 2011. Stakehlders participating in the review included the ExMC element, ExMC Advisry Grup Members, Flight Surgens, NASA Engineering, NASA Safety, and the NSBRI.
