Fall 2014 Damuth Trane Engineers Newsletter Live: Applying VRF Systems Date: Thursday, September 11, 2014 Time: 12:00-2:00 PM (Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM) Cost: FREE! Description: All HVAC systems have their own set of application challenges. In this broadcast, we will discuss some of the challenges when applying a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system, such as complying with ASHRAE Standards 15 and 90.1, meeting the ventilation requirements of ASHRAE Standard 62.1, and zoning to maximize the benefit of heat recovery. In addition, we will review the current state of modeling VRF in energy simulation software. Presenters: Paul Solberg - Trane Systems Engineer, Eric Sturm - Trane Applications Engineer, Dave Guckelberger - Trane Applications Engineer, John Murphy - Trane Applications Engineer Satellite broadcasts are eligible for 1.5 CEUs for Virginia Professional Engineer s license. Broadcasts are also eligible for AIA and LEED Continuing Education Hours. All certificates will be emailed after the seminar. Tracer Summit Date: Wednesday, September 24, 2014 Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Breakfast & Lunch will be served) Cost: $75 per person Target Audience: Building Owners and Operators Only Description: The Tracer Summit Building Automation System provides building control through a single, integrated system. A building s climate, lighting, energy consumption, scheduling, and other controllable features can all be programmed and managed by Tracer Summit building control units (BCUs). Instructor: Gary Pavlus, Damuth Trane BAS Service Systems Specialist Page 1

Training Schedule C.D.S - TRACE 700 Dates: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Each Day (Breakfast & Lunch will be served each day) Day 1: TRACE 700 Load Design -October 7, 2014 Day 2: Energy Analysis - October 8, 2014 Day 3: ASHRAE 90.1 / LEED and TRACE 700 - October 9, 2014 Cost: $160 per person, per day Target Audience: Consulting Engineers Descriptions: Day 1: TRACE 700 Load Design During this training you will model complex building geometrices and systems to fine-tune the design of critical building features. Examine the programs time saving templates of construction types, weather data, etc, and build schedules to control occupancy, lighting and miscellaneous building loads. Day 2: Energy Analysis Learn how to show the benefits of advanced HVAC technology on high efficiency equipment by comparing its energy and economic benefits with those of a base system. Be smarter when choosing equipment that will provide the best comfort at the lowest cost to the building owner. Find out how to customize utility rate information and turn it into actual dollar figures. Day 3: ASHRAE 90.1 / LEED and TRACE 700 Provides a fundamental overview of ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 and LEED with a focus on Energy and Atmosphere Credit 1: Optimized Energy Performance. The class begins with the background and impact of ASHRAE 90.1 as well as guidance through the Standard. The focus of this class is on the Energy Cost Budget (ECB) and Performance Rating methodologies (PRM) with an emphasis on TRACE 700 strategies to achieve sustainable designs. Instructor: Kit Fransen, C.D.S. Customer Training Manager Tracer SC Date: Thursday, October 23, 2014 Time: 8:00 AM 3:00 PM (Breakfast & Lunch will be served) Cost: $75 per person Target Audience: Building Owners and Operators Only Description: The Tracer SC System controller acts as the central coordinator for all individual equipment devices on a Tracer building automation system. It communicates with unit controllers that provide standalone control of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment. Join us for our Tracer SC training! Fall 2014 Damuth Trane Engineers Newsletter Live: Energy- Saving Strategies for Chilled Water Terminal Systems Date: Wednesday, November 5, 2014 Time: 12:00-2:00 PM (Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM) Cost: FREE! Description: Many chilled-water terminal products (such as fan coils, blower coils, and unit ventilators) are now available with electronically commutated motors (ECMs). In addition to higher motor efficiency, this makes these products capable of variable airflow operation (i.e., single-zone VAV). This ENL will discuss system design and control strategies for reducing energy use in chilled-water terminal systems. Topics include: variable-speed terminal fan operation, impact of ventilation system design, low-flow chilled-water system design, waterside economizing, waterside heat recovery, and meeting ASHRAE 90.1 requirements. Presenters: John Murphy - Trane Applications Engineer, Mick Schwedler - Trane Applications Engineer, Darcy Lee - Product Portfolio Manager Satellite broadcasts are eligible for 1.5 CEUs for Virginia Professional Engineer s license. Broadcasts are also eligible for AIA and LEED Continuing Education Hours.
