World AIDS Day Fundraiser Fundraiser for World AIDS Day should be held around December 1st First: -Read this document all the way through so you can organize meeting times, meeting places, etc in advance. -Go see your principal! -Ask him/her if you can sell the bracelets at school. -Ask if it would be okay to hang fliers around school. -Get a bake sale approved for after school or at lunch time. -Ask if you can have collection buckets in the cafeteria so people can donate their change to the cause. - Bring the project to your favorite clubs, teams, classes, etc and enlist help from your peers and friends. If you don t know who to get help from go to your school s community service club or student government and ask them to lend a hand. Next: -Call Natalie at 1-800-88-UNTIL. Tell her that you are interested in holding a World AIDS Day Fundraiser at your school and that your school has given you permission to do so. -Hold a meeting with all the people that want to help out. Tell everyone about the fundraiser and what needs to be done. -Organize the tasks: Appoint people to be in charge of separating bracelets into bags for each person to sell. Have a publicity committee that will be in charge of hanging fliers, making posters and making school wide announcements about the fundraiser. Designate people to bake treats for the bake sale and others to run the sale on the day of the fundraiser. Also pick someone to bring a cask box with change in it. -Distribute a newsletter to all of the teachers and faculty. Explain what you will be doing on the day of your fundraiser and how the money will help fight HIV/AIDS. Then: -Spread the word! Create a Facebook event and invite your whole school! Hang up posters and fliers around the halls. Make an announcement over the loudspeaker!

-When you get your bracelets, start separating them! Put 10-20 into bags for each person to carry around and sell. -Make donation buckets that will be used to collect everyone s loose change. One Week Before: -Keep Spreading the word!! Keep making Facebook and twitter posts. Remind everyone to bring in money to buy a bracelet, a treat or to donate to the fundraiser! -Finalize your bake sale. Have people specify what they will bring. Make sure each person who is participating in the bake sales knows their role. Don t forget the cask box! -Make sure your bracelet bags are ready! -Print out inventory sheets for each person who is helping you sell bracelets. The Day Before: -Hold a meeting: -Pass out the bracelet bags! Have each person fill out an inventory sheet to give you so that you know who took a bag and how many bracelets they have. It is important to keep your inventory organized so that you don t lose any bracelets. -Remind everyone via Facebook, twitter, text, etc. to wear red to school and to bring in money to buy bracelets and baked goods! The Day Of: -Sell the bracelets! Just keep asking people if they would be willing to support a great cause. -Have your bake sale! Make sure everyone knows about it and where it is. -After school, collect the Change Buckets you distributed around school. The Day After: -Make sure every person that took a bag has given it back! -Take inventory of the remaining bracelets, and how much money was earned. Make sure you got all the extra bracelets back. - Have a parent or the principal deposit the money you earned it into their bank account and write a check for the equivalent amount. -Send the check, made out to Until There s A Cure, along with all of the extra bracelets back to: 560 Mountain Home Rd Redwood City, CA, 94062.

Call Natalie at (800) 88-UNTIL to let her know that everything has been shipped and how much money was raised. Things you should know about HIV/AIDS:

1. HIV and AIDS Statistics Only 2 years ago, 390,000 young people under the age of 15 were newly infected with HIV/AIDS. In an effort to find a cure for their disease we are selling AIDS bracelets on behalf of Until There s a Cure. Not interested in buying a bracelet for AIDS awareness? How about a cupcake? Visit the main lobby after school for a treat and support AIDS research on World AIDS Day. In 2010, 1.8 million people died from AIDS. Today is World AIDS Day. Buy an AIDS awareness bracelet for $1.00 to support the cause. Over 34 million people were living with HIV/AIDS in 2010. In honor of those people, buy an AIDS awareness bracelet for $1.00. Today is World AIDS Day. Did you know that approximately 1 in 5 people with HIV don t even know it? Support Until There s a Cure, an organization that supports AIDS awareness and education, by buying a bracelet today. In the United States alone, it is estimated that every 9.5 minutes someone is infected with HIV. To support the fight against this virus, we are selling awareness bracelets for $1.00. All of the money raised will be donated to Until There s a Cure and other organizations that are working to eliminate the spread of HIV. HIV/AIDS is called a disease of young people. More than 40% of new infections every year occur in people ages 15-24. Help Until There s a Cure lower that statistic by purchasing an AIDS awareness bracelet.
