RESET button Pushing RESET button you have deleting of the alarm state and restoring of the operation for all channels. It is equivalent to the rearmament of a thermal protection. Obviously, if the condition that generated the alarm has not been removed, the channel will be again in alarm. MAN/AUT and SEL buttons The MAN/AUT and SEL buttons are to select a channel and force its activation in manual mode. The SEL button is to select a channel. The indication for the selected channel is the turning on of the related red led. So pushing the button SEL once, the red led related with the fisrt channel (L1) will turn on, pushing it one more time the turned on red led will go to right until the L4 channel is selected. Pushing the button one more time no channel will be selected. No channel will be selected even if no button is pushed within about 10 seconds. It is not possible selecting channels if an alarm condition is active, so before using selection button push the RESET button to deactivate all alarms. When a channel is selected, pushing the MAN/AUT button it is possible to force it in the manual or automatic operation. The manual operation selection is indicated by the turning on of the related green led of the selected channel. When the green led related to a channel is turned on the channel is forced to manual operation. When the green led related to a channel is turned off the channel is forced to automatic operation: it is conditioned to the closure of the external contact. Solution of problems In this paragraph we give you some suggestions to solve anomalies you can meet using the device. Verify the connection of power supply. Verify there is line voltage. Verify power supply values are compliance with those specified in this manual. If the problem persists please contact the device distributor. Verify the effective turning on and off of the input led in the frontal panel. Verify connections of each load trying to force them in the manual operation. Push the RESET button to delete all the memorized alarm conditions. 10 3

Power supply The power supply connection is performed connecting the power voltage to terminals eumerated with 46 and 48. The nominal allowed voltage is 0 Vca to 30 Vca at 50 Hz frequency. Terminal 47 has to be connected with the ground reference. The device does not provide internal fuses, so you must provide an external adequate protection. The device power supply is protected from momentary over-voltages. Damages due to a wrong power supply are not covered by guarantee. Loads supply The loads supply is realized connecting power supply to terminals enumerated with 30 and 3. Terminal 31 has to be connected to the ground reference. Maximum current supported is 8 A and maximum tension is 50 Vca. Loads connection Loads connection is realized connecting them in couples to terminals 33 to 40, as indicated in figure 5. Each channel supports a maximum current of A. Anyway, current will be limited by the value set by the overload protection system (thermal funcionality). The alarm relay operates in intrinsic security, so it is activated at the device turning on, and it is deactivated when an alarm condition occurs. In this way you have a signal of no-controlled device when it is turned off. External activation The terminals 41 and 4 provide connection to external activation of operation: when you close the contacts on these terminals the device controls loads activation. The external contact has to be clean, i.e. without tension. In those applications where the NEX device controls the transformers temperatures and the device is used to turn on the ventilation fans, you must connect terminal 13 of the NEX device to terminal 41 of, and terminal 15 of NEX to terminal 4 of (see figure 7 option 1). In this way each time the temperature of one probe exceeds the threshold the relay of the NEX will activate and will turn on the ventilation fans. If you want the ventilation fans to be turned on even if a probe malfunction or a NEX malfunction occurs, you must connect paralleling also the contact of the generic 8 Inputs 1 input for loads supply. The guarantee consists in the free repair or substitution of the components that have been damaged in the devices' construction, arrived at our office carriage paid. The product's guarantee declines in the following cases: device's damages deriving from negligence, use or installation not compliance with the instructions furnished in the user's manual wrong power supply damages due to changes in the line voltage to which the device is connected as in the case of discharges caused by thunderbolts or other external phenomena tampering with the device damages due to accidental causes or to negligence non-payment of the device The guarantee period is determined on the basis of the serial number written on the device's label so that it has not to be cancelled nor modified. Parts subjected to wear by use are not covered by guarantee. Furthermore, removal and re-installation costs are not covered by guarantee, as transport costs and risks and any other direct or indirect cost due to repair of the device you consider damaged. The constructor declines any responsibility for harms done to persons, animals or things directly or indirectly coming out from a proper or improper use of the device. The device's repair or substitution is subjected to the unobjectionable constructor's opinion. When the guarantee period falls the damaged device's repair will involve the debit entry for the damaged components substitution and for the labour. For any dispute the competent Court is the one of Bologna (Italy). 11

Introduction Congratulations for your choice to purchase (Intelligent Power Switch), the magneto-thermal device for electrical loads. This manual gives you the informations to install and use the device. For an useful usage of this manual we suggest you to read it near the device to directly verify the instructions. We moreover suggest you to keep the manual for future use. Device Overview. The device supports the functionalties of magneto-thermic and of manual/automatic switch for four distinct electrical loads. It was developed to satisfy requirements of the insulated resin transformers users who use fans for convection cooling, but it can be used in any situation where you have 4 different electrical loads and you need a magnetothermal control. The principal functionality of this device are represented in the scheme in figure 1. In details the device supports these functionalities: 1 digital input to receive external signals Leds to visualize alarms and operation state of loads 3 buttons for settings Non volatile memory to save user's settings 4 outputs to supply the electrical loads 1 relay output for short circuit or overload alarms. M A extern contact M 0 A alarm to terminal and 3 of the NEX device, as represented by option of figure 7 (you must connect he normally closed, because it works in intrinsic security i.e. On the relay drop). The device verifies there are no short-circuits, otherwise it turns off all loads and signals an alarm state. The device measures the current absorption of each load connected to it and if they exceed the memorized threshold the device turns off the related channel and signals an alarm. Using buttons you can force the manual activation (independently from external activation) for single loads. A1 A MAN AUT A3 NEX SEL ON The system has been developed for an easy manual or automatic arrangement of loads and for a fast diagnostic in case of anomalies. The device has been realized compliance with the electromagnetic compatibility requirements. Technical specifications Power supply Nominal line voltage 0 Vac at 40 50 Hz Maximum line voltage 50 Vac Maximum power absorption 5VA Protection against line noises L1 L L3 L4 Figure 1 Led Each channel has related leds on frontal panel: one red and one green. For each channel the red led signals an alarm situation (blinking led) or to indicate the selected channel (fixed light) for the manual activation; the green led indicates the manual operation state. If the device measures an overload situation on a channel, it will turn off the channel and turn on the related red led blinking. If the device reveals a short-circuit situation, it will turn off all channels and all red leds will blink at a higher frequency than the one they blink at in overload conditions. On the device there is also a green led to indicate the digital input state for external activation: it is on when the external contact is closed. Another green led indicates the state of device on. Buttons On the device there are 3 buttons to provide the following functionalities. 4 9
