Self-Install Security System Installation Installation guide Congratulations on purchasing a Self-Install Security System from RAA. This small-scale security system is recommended for rental, holiday homes, and other small properties. Your security system will connect directly to RAA s Monitoring Emergency Response Centre in Adelaide. Our trained staff will respond immediately to any emergency signal and contact you or send a security patrol to ensure the safety of your property. Your wireless system is both easy to install and use. For self installation, please follow the instructions below. Call RAA on 1300 555 120 (option 1) if you have any questions. To install the Self-Install Security System you will need: 1. A ladder to mount the motion sensors. 2. Approximately 20 minutes to walk through your home and test the system. 4

5

Self-Install Security System Installation Codepad and accessories Your Self-Install Security System comes with: Wireless codepad includes siren (pre-programmed) Plug pack 2 x wireless motion sensors (pre-programmed) 1 x alarm remote Self-adhesive tape 6

7

Self-Install Security System Installation Step 1 Determine security system location The location of the codepad and the wireless motion sensors affects the overall performance of your system. You will need to select the best location for the two sensors and the codepad. This system is intended for indoor use only. Each sensor should be placed in the corner of the room that you wish to have covered. Alternative locations can include above stairwells or other high traffic areas that an intruder will most likely walk through. The codepad should be placed centrally between the two sensors, and needs to be plugged into a power point. Note: You should avoid placing the sensors and codepad close to anything that may interfere with the wireless connection. This includes other metal or wireless devices, air conditioners, computers and modems, circuit breaker boxes, heater ducts, and similar equipment. 8

9

Self-Install Security System Installation Step 2 - Mounting motion sensors The supplied motion sensors are designed for indoor use only. The sensor should be installed on a wall in a corner location mounted at a height between 2.1 to 3.1 metres. The preferred mounting height is 2.1 metres. The following steps outline the process for correct installation. 1. Clean the area you wish to mount the sensors, preferably with alcohol wipes. 2. Open up each sensor and connect the batteries. This is done by attaching the white battery connector to the plug on the main board. See below. a b c d 3. Replace cover securely. Warning: Do not touch the electronics inside the sensor as this may interfere with functionality. 10

4. Attach the double sided adhesive tape supplied to the rear surface of the motion sensor (see below), that contacts the wall. 5. Remove the backing of the double sided adhesive tape and mount the detector to the wall in the desired location. For installation fl at on a wall attach self-adhesive tape here: For installation in the corner of a room attach self-adhesive tape here: Back view Front view Note: Front of sensor to point in direction of detection area. Examples of a correctly installed sensor: Note: You should avoid pointing sensors directly at windows or heat sources such as heater vents as this may cause false alarms. 11

Self-Install Security System Installation Step 3 Mount the codepad The codepad needs to be mounted on the wall with a power point nearby. Mount the codepad using the double sided tape supplied. 1. Clean the area you wish to mount the codepad, preferably with alcohol wipes. 2. Stick the supplied double sided adhesive tape to the rear case of the codepad at each corner (see Codepad rear view right) 3. Remove the tape backing and press the codepad against the wall for a few seconds until the adhesive grips. 4. Ensure that the unit is mounted at a suitable height to enable ease of access to the keys and good visibility of the display screen. 5. Plug the plug pack into a nearby power point, excess cable length can be pushed back into the rear case of the codepad. 6. Turn the unit on at the power point. You may be prompted to enter the date and time, follow the on screen instructions. Note: The codepad includes the siren and can also be referred to as the main unit. 12
