Day 1: Arrival & guided city tour After checking in at your hotel, a guide will take you on a tour through the city. Aarhus Cathedral, the hyggelige Latin Quarter, the old houses in Møllestien, the Åboulevard and Aarhus harbour are only a small part of the program this afternoon. Day 2: Danish History In the morning you will meet your ancestors in the beautifully located Moesgård Museum (MoMu). Among archeological finds and artefacts from around the world, you will find one of the best-known and best preserved bog bodies in the world, the Grauballe Man. In the afternoon, you will drive back to the city for a visit of the open-air museum The Old Town. The historical houses and interiors of Den Gamle By give a great insight into how the Danes have lived through various periods of time. Day 3: Modern day Denmark The theme of today will be modern culture; Danish design, art and architecture. In the morning, you will visit ARoS with its colourful Rainbow Panorama. After a guided tour through the museum you will drive to the Royal Marselisborg Castle and Mindeparken, where in the afternoon you will visit Sculpture by the Sea. Alongside the seaside and forest, works of new and established artists are exhibited, playfully interacting with their surroundings. Day 4: Time off and departure After breakfast, you will have some time off. Maybe you would like to go shopping in the Latin Quarter? Or enjoy a good cup of coffee on a terrace at the Åboulevard! THE NATURAL EXPERIENCE OF AARHUS A great city surrounded by great nature. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Aarhus. Day 3: Djurland and Mols In the morning, you will drive to the peninsula of Djursland and visit the ruin of Kalø Castle, dating from the Middle Ages. The ruin is located in National Park Mols Bjerge. Together with a guide, you will go for a hike in a varied landscape, on which the last Ice Age has left a lasting footprint. In the afternoon you will visit the historical town of Ebeltoft, with its romantic streets and alleys. Here you will also stop at the Fregatten Jylland one of the largest wooden frigates in the world. Day 4: Samsø Today you will go island hopping and visit Samsø. On this island, environmental awareness and sustainability are key words. A guide will show you the cultural and natural highlights of the island, and you will learn how Samsø managed to convert the island s energy consumption from oil and coal to renewable energy in less than ten years. Take a moment to enjoy the fresh sea air, and have an ice-cream with traditional Danish guf. Your destination for the day will be the town of Thisted in the beautiful surroundings of the Limfjord. Day 4: Thisted - Frederikshavn After a nice breakfast and checking out, you will continue your journey to the northernmost part of Denmark. You will drive alongside the west coast, via Jammerbugten all the way up to Skagen the most northern town in the country. On your way, you will visit the wide beaches, sandy dunes and charming small towns the area is known for. In Skagen, a guide will take you to visit Old Skagen, the city centre and Skagen Museum, with its beautiful collection of impressionist works. The coastal town of Skagen is well known as a nineteenth century artist colony, the Skagen Painters. After visiting the town, you will drive to the northernmost point of Denmark: Grenen, where the waters of the Skager rak and Kattegat meet. You will stay at a hotel in Frederikshavn. Day 5: Frederikshavn - Gothenburg In Frederikshavn, you will board the ferry to Sweden. After arriving in Gothenburg, a guide will take you on a tour through Sweden s second largest city. You will visit the marked place of Feskekyrka, Kungsportsavenyen and Götaplatsen with its massive Poseidon Fountain dating from 1931. You will stay at a hotel in Gothenburg. Many know Kronborg as Elsinore, the setting of Shakespeare s tragedy Hamlet. Your journey will continue to Copenhagen, where you will stay the night. Day 7: Departure After breakfast and checking out, you will have time off to enjoy Copenhagen on your own. We recommend exploring the city from the waterside during a canal boat tour.
