Run SAIT TDC Now Remember, you will have to go to this page Every time you want to do your course. Please Note: Every time that you run TDC, it will connect to the server to see if the version on your desktop is the same version as on the server. If there is a difference in the versions, TDC will deliver the appropriate files; otherwise, it will start TDC and you will be able to log in. Install SAIT TDC Now Your page should look like this: Option 1: 1. If Install shows up in either place (Red Arrows) Click one of them. This window may pop up: Select I understand the risk and then Click OK Page 4
2. Now you will get the Wizard: Keep Clicking Next and Click Install when it comes up. Now it will Install, Click Finish when you can. 3. Go to your Start Menu 4. Go to Programs or All Programs 5. You should see something similar to this in your list: Click on the SAIT TDC that has a picture of a tree. 6. Now you will get the log in page 7. Log in using the information provided in the Welcome Email. Page 5
Option 2: If it says Please Wait (where the red arrow is). Follow these steps: 1. Click the Zip File Link (Blue Arrow) 2. You should get a pop up similar to this: 3. Select Save Page 6
4. Something like this should pop up (Asking where to save) 5. Choose your Desktop (Blue Arrow) or somewhere you will Remember. Click Save. Now it will start installing. 6. Once done, your pop up will look like this: Select Open Folder or Open 7. You should get a long list similar to this one: 8. Choose Setup or setup.exe (Towards the bottom) Page 7
Starting Your Course After logging in, your page will look similar to this. This is your Main SAIT TDC Today Page. Do you have questions about the material? Contact info for Your Tutor is here. Do you have administrative course questions? Contact info for Your Client Services Support is here. 1. This will show you where your courses are. Click the House in the Top Left Hand Corner of the SAIT TDC window. OR Click on Go to SAIT TDC in the top right corner Page 8

Viewing you Learning Material NOTE: Power Engineering Students go to Page 17 for different information 1. Click on the Plus Sign beside the module title (Indicated by Blue Arrow) 2. Now it should Drop Down. You should see the same title. 3. Click Once on the one that Dropped down (Red Arrow) 4. The right side of your screen should change to your learning material. Accessing your SAIT Assignment (Also Called Knowledge Assessment in TDC) 1. Click on the Module Title Itself The First time you see the module title. GLOSSARY OF TERMS DOES NOT HAVE AN ASSIGNMENT! ONLY READING! Look at Which Line is Highlighted If you clicked the right place, your screen will look like this on the Right Hand Side 2. Click the Piece of Paper with a Pencil on it (Red Arrow) 3. This will pop up: 4. Click on Final to open your assignment. There currently are not practice assignments available. You have TWO attempts to get at least 50% on the assignments. Page 11
Completing Your SAIT Assignment 1. When you re done your assignment. Click on Submit that s on the bottom of your question box: 2. If you re ready to have your assignment corrected Click Yes when the next pop up comes. 3. Your Corrected Assignment (Or Assessment Summary) will come up. 4. You will know the assignment is complete because the module title will go Black on the left hand side. to 5. If you fail an assignment twice, you will have to email/phone your Client Services Support to re-set the assignment for you. Saving your Assignment You have 4 options in this section Save Unfinished Assignment for Later 1. After your assignment starts you may decide to do it later. 2. Click on Save Assessment at the bottom 3. A pop up will come up stating how long your assignment if saved for it will tell you the date and time is will be saved until. You can only save it ONCE. If you open it again you Must complete it. 4. This is how to go back and complete the assignment: i. On your Main TDC Today Page, you will see Saved Assessments. Double Click on the quiz you want to complete. Page 12
Print Your Assignment 1. Click Print after your assignment has been corrected. Save Your Completed Assignment 1. Open a Microsoft Word Document and go back to your Assessment Summary 2. Take your mouse to the top corner of the question box (Where Assessment Summary starts) 3. Click and Hold Down the Left button on the Mouse and drag it to the bottom. You will noticed everything is getting highlighted 4. Now hold down the CTRL button on your keyboard (very bottom left) AND the letter C 5. Go to your Word Document i. You can either Right Click (on your mouse) and select Paste OR Click the Picture Paste OR hold down the CTRL button on your keyboard AND the letter V 6. Save View Assignment in TDC After You Have Submitted it 1. Remember where you went to Access a SAIT Assignment? Go There. 2. Click on View Task History (Red Arrow) 3. This will come up: 4. On the Left Hand side, Click on the second item listed. So the View will show up (Orange Arrow) Page 13
Have a Problem with a Module? We need to know the problems you run into! Course Expiration - Elapsed Tasks A new feature we have added for the learner is the Task Course Expiration as seen in the screenshot below. Each Course will have an expiration date 1 year from the registration. Each learner and each course per learner will notify the learner 30 days prior to the expiry date. The task icon will show BLUE when it hits the 30 day prior to expiration, which will also show in the Pie Chart on the Today Page. Once the 30 days have passed the task icon will show YELLOW, evidencing that the course has expired. This will also populate in the Pie Chart on the Today Page. The Course Expiration is located in the same place as your learning. The Task Icon will change colors here as well as in the Pie Chart. This is the Pie Chart that is located on the Today Page. General Distance Learning Information Numbers to Know: Client Services Support: 1-800-661-1268 or om.training@sait.ca Tutor: 1-800-661-1268 extension 3 or energy.tutor@sait.ca Student Services: 1-877-284-7248 Your Registration Confirmation has your Start and End dates for your course. Your Assignments and Exam/s MUST be done Before the stated end date. You must complete assignments and a final exam. Once all assignments are complete, Call or Email your Client Services Support. They will send you a form to fill out. For Power Engineering Students: 4 th Class has TWO Exams. Exam Information You can write on the Main SAIT Campus: a. Email/Call your Client Services Support At Least one week before your planned exam date. Our testing centre is open from Monday Saturday. Ask your Client Service Support for the hours. Power Engineering exams cannot be held on campus on Saturdays. You can write Off Campus: a. You need to find a Presiding Examiner (someone to watch over you) i. This person can be your boss/supervisor, teacher/professor, another testing centre at a college or university, principal/vice principal, reverend etc. If you have someone else in mind, ask your Client Services Support if they are acceptable. b. Once your application is received, it will take up to 10 business days for processing c. An email will be sent to your Presiding Examiner and you will be included this is your indication that you can access to your exam. At that time you can review the rules and information about your exam. The pass mark on an exam is 50%. You have one chance to re-write at a $75 charge. Restrictions Apply. 2 nd fail results in re-registration. For Power Engineering, you are able to make use of the following materials: o A non-technical English language dictionary o Handbook of Formulae and Physical Constants, Steam Tables and Refrigeration Tables and Mollier Chart o ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes except for Sections VI and VII o The 2007 ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Academic Extract and Supplement o ASME B31.1 Pressure Piping Code and B31.3 Process Piping Code o CSA B51, Boiler, Pressure Vessel and Pressure Piping Code o CSA B52, Mechanical Refrigeration Code o Safety Codes Act and Regulations o Pens and pencils o A scientific non-programmable calculator o Drawing instruments and drawing templates Page 16
Withdrawal Information Your must contact Student Services BEFORE 25% of your course time has passed to get a full refund. Anytime after that results in no refund. Course Extension You can purchase an Extension through Student Services. The cost is $150 (price for the 2010/2011 school year and is subject to change on a yearly basis) charge and MUST be purchased At Least 2 Business Days before your course Expires. The length of your extension will depend on the course you are taking. How to Find your Final Grade 1. Go to Mysait.ca 2. You will need the following information to log in: Username: Student ID Number Starting with the Zeros Don t know your Student ID Number? See Below. Password: Your Birthdate DDMMYY, Two digits for each 3. Click Login 4. Once you re in, you will see these tabs: 5. Click on My Student 6. Click on Student Records (Located under the heading of Academic Records & Schedules) 7. Click on Final Grades 8. Select the term then hit Submit Find your Student ID Number: Your student ID can be found in 2 different places: 1. On Your Registration Confirmation that you were mailed upon registration. 2. On TDC: a. Go to the top of your TDC window. Looks like the below: b. Click on Tools c. Go to Account Information. It will be at the bottom of the list. Page 17
Power Engineering Students Remember: Your Textbooks are considered the learning materials. After reading the Previous, here is how your Left Hand side Menu is DIFFERENT. SAIT Assignment 1. Click the Title to get a SAIT Assignment (same as mentioned before) You will have no resources. Click on the Chapter Title PanGlobal s Supplement Site Self Tests (Practice Quizzes) / Videos If you bought textbooks with your course, you would have received a login for PanGlobal s Site Mypower-net.com. Please use that login information for the practice site. This log in information is on a Bright Piece of Paper called Notice to Reader OR inside the front cover of your Textbook. a. If you had your own set before you won t have access. You can purchase access for a fee directly though PanGlobal s Site. Ebook Files (Electronic Textbooks) If you bought textbooks with your course, you are able to get Ebook access (through PanGlobal s Practice site). This is your textbooks electronically, just in case you don t want to carry them around all of the time! Please email the following information to your Client Services Support if you want access to ebook files: - Username & Password that came with your textbooks - Your Full Name - SAIT Student ID (if you can) - City you currently reside in Page 18
