How you re assessed You ll be asked to apply your knowledge and demonstrate your skills for each unit of competency in your course. As such, your assessments are based on a combination of written exercises and practical tasks designed to keep you engaged and motivated. While you ll be able to do most assessments on your own, some may require you to work as part of a group or with colleagues in your workplace. Here are some examples of the type of assessment to expect: Making video and audio recordings that demonstrates your ability to: o conduct team meetings and provide customer service o interact with customers o present a report o make a presentation Preparing written documents o Write a report on [a topic] based in your workplace or other business environment o Create a training plan for your organisation for the CEO s approval Answering questions online o List three factors to consider when implementing your organisation s health and safety policy o What are the key characteristics of a marketing plan? And remember, all your assessments are easily submitted online. No need to print, scan or mail anything! How many assessments are there? A course has an average of 10 units, with several assessments in each unit. Some assessments are quite straightforward and some are more involved. All assessments are designed to help you demonstrate your understanding progressively as you go through each unit. How are assessments marked? For each unit of competency, you ll be marked Competent if you ve demonstrated competence against all the performance criteria or Not yet competent if you haven t. Your Competent result is in turn made up of the results of the assessments that make up that unit. You ll need to be marked Satisfactory for each assessment in the unit to get an overall result of Competent. To receive your full qualification, you must get marked Competent for all units. When do I get my results? Your trainer will post your results, with their comments, within three to five business days. Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety 4
