Educational solutions MV/LV power grid design and operation laboratory
Presentation Context A growing development of the power supply requires a staff competent in its engineering, operation and maintenance. To respond to this demand, Schneider Electric, a global energy management specialist, developed educational equipment entirely corresponding to the MV/LV power supply. Shared resources training centre - The concept of shared resources in electrical engineering is particularly fitted to respond to the needs of both initial and professional training for industrial workers. - Such a centre promotes the collaboration between Schools and Enterprises, giving priority to the following synergy points: - Enterprises need to maintain and develop their resources on specific materials. It is a great place to favour technological watch in the professional sector. - Schools need to introduce an educational method of facing a real situation in industrial projects. The opening towards enterprises makes schools progress in their double mission to train and integrate students in the professional life. Target skills - To identify and test the purpose of different equipments - To operate equipment under load respecting the safety rules - To adjust protective devices - To implement an uninterrupted power supply - To identify different diagrams of earthing system - To maintain and operate an installation - To define and draft the procedures of commissioning, operation and maintenance of a delivery station - To draft test and intervention reports - To diagnose a failure in a MV/LV delivery station - To receive or take courses of renewing the electrical accreditation in order to operate safely Institutions concerned The laboratory responds to the requirements of students of vocational technical schools and the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. In the professional training, the firms search for specialized trainers and specific equipments.
Presentation of our offer The laboratory of power supply that we propose has for a prototype the installation of a hospital. It represents an advantage of demonstrating the essential features of the power supply. Students will study on an installation of 500 KVA: The concept of supply loop on the power grid The point of operating different earthing systems for reasons of the power supply continuity The implementation of different systems of power backup The design of an installation on a remote site The importance of having an excellent level of maintenance The power in a hospital is supplied by a transforming station which distributes energy in two buildings situated at 300 m from each other: The first represents the building of reception and medical services with a high need for the energy continuity. The second corresponds to the administrative building with a low need for power supply continuity. Our laboratory offers studying the power backup station and the delivery stations of both administrative and medical services buildings. Other educational equipments complete this installation to explore all specificities of the profession. The power grid supply cell Distance between the buildings = 300 m The power-sensitive cell Operating rooms: sensible area: need for a clean signal and no power failure by means of an inverter. Computer rooms: priority area: in case of a power failure, this area is powered by a generating set. Sick rooms: non-priority area: in case of a power failure, this area is no longer powered. Building 1: medical services centre (operating, computer and sick rooms) Operating rooms Local computeur Rooms The ordinary power supply cell Offices: non-priority area: in case of a power failure, this area is no longer powered. Building 2 : administrative centre (offices) Office
Educational offers Presentation of our MV/LV offer The core of the MV/LV power supply offer is situated in the first two rooms. Students work there on a real low power installation. In addition to the basic equipments, we also offer a variety of subsystems and components to make some of these technologies more attractive and didactic. Building 1: medical services centre (high level of service required) High-voltage loops Switch cell Power supply HV counter cell Protection cell Hight voltage cells Inverter Operating rooms, a sensible area Transformer protection Transformer LV switchboard Computer rooms, a priority area HV starter Generating set Sick rooms, a non-priority area Distance between two buildings: 300 m Dry-type transformer IT neutral LV switchboard Building 2: administrative centre (low level of service required) HV sheath of flow Power supply Transformer protection Transformer Lv switchboard Offices (a non-priority area) HV cells Oil-immersed transformer TN neutral LV switchboard
Presentation of our complementary offer In the third room there is a complete range of training benches which enable to master the issues encountered in the power supply system and on an electrical installation. It covers the fields related to: Design Power quality and energy continuity Optimization of consumption Operation and maintenance Electrical safety (protection and electrical accreditation) The proposed educational equipments and measuring tools are designed to let students work in pairs. A detailed technical data sheet is provided as well as a manual with practical exercises drawn up by the professors of the French Ministry of Education. Earthing diagram (ED) benches Protection discrimination bench LV power accreditation system (Habilis) Residential and small service industry pack offer The training bench of management of public lighting (Didalub) Reactive energy compensation training bench Electrical network interference bench (Harmocem) Harmonics interference installation (Min-Harmotris) 3-phase network h a r m o n i c interference bench (Harmotris)
