Massey University Wireless Network - Client Configuration Windows Mobile 5/6 Windows Mobile wireless network Requirements Information Technology Services You must have an active Massey network account, i.e. you should already be able to log onto the wired Massey network (for example the computer labs) for Staff with your Massey username and password and Students with your Student ID number and PIN. Your network adaptor must support WPA security with EAP authentication. You must be within an area of wireless coverage. Typically this will be less than 100m from an access point. Refer to the coverage maps at http://wireless.massey.ac.nz/coverage.htm 1. Tap Start. 2. Select Settings. 1 2 Page 1 of 8
3. Select the Connections tab. 4. Select Connections. 4 3 5. Select Setup my proxy server or Edit my proxy server. *Note: the wording of this will change if you have entered setting for a proxy server before. 6. Make sure This network connects to the Internet and This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet are both ticked. 6 5 Page 2 of 8

Enter the name of the proxy server for your region in the Proxy server: field Information Technology Services Palmerston North Turitea and Hokowhitu* Wellington Albany tur-cache1.massey.ac.nz wel-cache1.massey.ac.nz alb-cache1.massey.ac.nz or tur-cache2.massey.ac.nz *Note for Palmerston North, Turitea and Hokowhitu there are two proxy servers, both should work but if one is not working try the other. 8. 9. Select (click on) HTTP 10. Enter 8080 in the Port field. 11. Enter your Massey username 12. Enter your Password or your 4 digit PIN. 13. Enter Domain (massey) 14. Select OK. 14 10 9 11 12 13 Note: MUStaff wireless users using mobile devices you need to enter your Massey Username like this: massey\username in to the HTTP proxy settings. Page 4 of 8
15. Make sure your wireless card is on. 16. Click on Start and select Settings. 17. Select Wireless LAN 16 18. If Wireless LAN is off, turn is on by clicking on Turn on WLAN. *there may be different ways to turn on/off your wireless LAN depending on the device settings. 17 18 19. Click on Start 20. Select the name of the wireless connection you would like to connect to (e.g. MUStudents) There are three wireless networks provided: MUStudents - Student users on any equipment MUStaffPrivateEquipment - Staff using private or non-massey equipment MUStaff - Staff using Massey-managed equipment (those with an ITXXXXXX number) 23. 30. The following Network Log On box will appear 31. Enter your Massey username 32. Enter your Password or your 4 digit PIN. 33. Enter Domain (massey) 34. Check the Box for Save password. 35. 36. You will be returned to the Configure Wireless Networks screen and the wireless network you chose should now be Connecting as shown below. 36 37. Once the wireless network changes to Connected you can load a webpage in your windows mobile browser, i.e. Internet Explorer. 37 Note: If you are not able to load google or other webpages, try to connect to Massey s website www.massey.ac.nz. If you can connect to Massey s website but not external websites, go back to step 4 and check your Proxy settings. 38. Done! Page 8 of 8
