Senior Database Manager ~ Use your database skills to help save Australia s endangered wildlife ~ Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) is Australia s largest private (non-profit) owner of land for conservation, protecting endangered wildlife across 3 million hectares in iconic locations such as the Kimberley, Cape York, the Top End and Lake Eyre. Funded by tax-deductible donations from a growing network of supporters, AWC is developing an exciting new model for conservation focused on practical land management informed by world-class science. Reporting to AWC s Business Manager, this is an exciting new role responsible for the strategic development and ongoing operation of our Raiser s Edge supporter database. You will use your strong analytical capacity, and exceptional database management skills, to help build AWC s data driven approach to mobilising donation revenue. In doing so, you will work closely with our Development and Communications team. In this important role, you will lead our gifts processing team to ensure the accurate and timely capture of data as well as undertaking sophisticated campaign analysis, evaluation and reporting. You will drive innovation and internal capacity building in data integration/analysis, while developing best practice procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data entry, maintenance, segmentation, production and reporting. You will require: A minimum 3 years experience managing the development and maintenance of a relational database (preferably Raiser s Edge) in a fundraising or sales/marketing environment. Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail and a sound understanding of basic fundraising/sales principles and the role data plays in driving strategy, campaigns and programs. Advanced skills with standard business software packages. A passion for the conservation of Australia s wildlife. Data Integration and Analysis Manage the integration of data from multiple sources to develop a consolidated data platform. Develop regular and ad hoc queries to support the extraction and uploading of data (eg, to generate accurate and effective market segmentation and data lists). required for a range of appeals/communications including direct mail, telephone appeals and e-news. 2. Revenue and Campaign Reporting Produce reports to track, analyse and evaluate the performance of fundraising and marketing programs/campaigns. These reports are required to enable effective campaign and program management, plus to support and inform long term planning. Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts. 3. Database Management Manage the ongoing development and maintenance of AWC s Raiser s Edge database, ensuring the design/configuration of the database meets AWC s business needs. Develop and maintain the structure of the database and all business procedures for data entry, gift processing, record management, storage and warehousing. Ensure a high level of data reliability and integrity. Develop and implement strategies to clean data to improve contact rates by mail, email, phone and SMS. Manage the relationship with the database vendor (Blackbaud), including acting as liaison between Blackbaud and AWC s IT team to implement system updates/upgrades and address any database management issues. Ensure timely implementation of upgrades and resolution of issues with minimal interruption to business. Manage user access to the database. Ensure appropriate access and data security is maintained. Design and deliver training for users of the database. Produce detailed and durable technical documentation, user manuals, operations manuals and other documentation. 4. Manage the processing of donations Oversee the processing of donations to ensure timely and accurate processing of gifts in accordance with approved protocols. o Maintain transparent audit trails of donation processing and bank account transactions. o Work closely with the Finance Team to ensure reconciliation of accounts/transactions. Undertake monthly reconciliations and end of year audits: ensure timely and accurate reconciliations and unqualified audits. Ensure database back-up systems are secure and are applied in accordance with protocols. 5. Support effective communication with AWC supporters Manage the process of sending e-news to the AWC database (via NetCommunity), including targeted communication to segments of the database. Undertake/assist in other aspects of routine communication with donors. Coordinate the logistics/delivery of fundraising campaigns, including direct mail and telephone. 6. Undertake other tasks, as required. Manage volunteers from time-to-time (i.e. in relation to targeted mail-outs).
