G-Cloud Service Definition Atos Data Quality Audit SCS

Atos Data Quality Audit SCS As organisations increasingly utilise a hybrid of Legacy and Cloud based technology platforms, it becomes increasingly critical to be able to audit not only where data resides, but to maintain the quality of that data across that multiplicity of solutions. Atos provides a range of services which are designed to help our clients design, plan and execute a successful Data Quality Audit across all platforms including cloud, that delivers tangible business change. An Atos Data Quality Audit will utilise considerable skills and knowledge in this area, using tools for data discovery, profiling for data quality and health checking the entire infrastructure, to ensure success and drive the design of ETL processes to migrate the data. Atos expertise in Data Quality tools and development methods Use the experience of previous Data Quality Audits to determine the most appropriate development tools and methods for the business solution. Technology Agnostic (Independent) view of solution vendors Atos work with a wide range of partners within Data Quality from global leaders to cutting edge SME s. Utilise an independent view on the right scale solution vendor. Supports Existing investments Fully supports investment made in underlying applications and business process transformation programmes across the business Helps reduce overheads / costs Helps reduce overheads/costs through a single, unified view of the business that can easily be interrogated and analysed, giving users faster access to relevant timely information Reliable Aligns everyone with one, reliable version of the source data What is it? Atos provides a range of services to help customers design, plan and execute successful Data Quality Audits. Atos has vast experience of working within multiple Government customers benefiting from Data Quality Audits. Features of the service include: A true understanding of the data under ownership within the business Ensured quality, completeness and consistency of data throughout the business Identification and discovery of relationships between multiple entities from different sources Mapping of data to business processes Derived data lineage Understanding of the impact of change to an entity ii

Provision of candidate entities for consolidation in data migration projects Opportunities to combine data for business value Foundation blocks to a data warehouse design project Identification of source information for a master data management project. What makes us unique? Atos is a key supplier to the Public Sector, delivering wide ranging and secure systems in major customers like DWP, HMRC, MOJ and DoH. In many cases Atos is already developing Data Quality solutions that analyse the quality of data within an organisation, providing consistency, when delivering critical information. As such we are uniquely placed to understand the requirements of the Public Sector market and to recommend the most appropriate methods and tools. The rapid growth in data from multiple sources has caught many organisations by surprise. Unable to fully process this data or align it with a centralised view, they have been forced to simply collect and store it to ensure it is available. Unfortunately when called upon to recall this data for legislative or compliance reasons, it is not always possible to recognise and connect all the required information. In some industries this can result in severe financial penalties from the authorities. A Data Quality Audit from Atos will define all the existing sources of data, profile the data for quality and provide a solution to rectify the issues. In some cases it will be sufficient to prove that the data has been audited and meets the required criteria in the way that it is stored and retrieved so meeting regulatory requirements. In others it will lead to a detailed data cleansing process to recover missing or incorrectly stored information thus avoiding poor practice in the future. What benefits can a Data Quality Audit deliver? Confirmation of compliance to regulatory requirements for data cleanliness and availability Recovery of missing or incorrectly entered data to remove errors from the system Confidence for the business and customers that information is being managed and stored correctly Provision of an in depth gap analysis of the difference between the current situation and the aspirations of the business A detailed plan to bring the data in line with expectations Increased confidence in the measures and KPIs exposed in reports and dashboards. iii

1. Introduction 1.1 Service summary Atos provides a range of services to help customers design, plan and execute successful Data Quality Audits. Atos has vast experience of working within multiple Government customers benefiting from Data Quality Audits. The highlights of this service are: A true understanding of the data under ownership within the business Ensured quality, completeness and consistency of data throughout the business Identification and discovery of relationships between multiple entities from different sources Mapping of data to business processes Derived data lineage Understanding of the impact of change to an entity Provision of candidate entities for consolidation in data migration projects Opportunities to combine data for business value Foundation blocks to a data warehouse design project Identification of source information for a master data management project. Atos can provide expertise in numerous best-in-class technology solutions for all aspects of Data Quality and has capabilities in a range of Data Quality tools, e.g. IBM, SAP, Informatica, Infoshare, Talend, Oracle. The service is delivered by an experienced, in many cases certified and motivated Data Technicians and Developers who follow the Atos CMMI accredited global methodology (the Global Development Platform, or GDP). The GDP is aligned to PRINCE 2, MSP and ITIL delivery standards and includes best practice for Waterfall, Iterative / Phased and Agile (SCRUM, DSDM, Kanban) lifecycle approaches. 1.2 How this product can be used The rapid growth in data from multiple sources has caught many organisations by surprise. 1

2. Service overview 2.1 Enabling Strategy The Atos approach to Data Quality involves understanding all the data held by the customer and its value to the customer. Atos will help understand the current and future trends that should influence the strategy, particularly in respect to alignment with wider business goals and integration with existing systems (and their respective data). 2.2 Business & User Needs A full understanding of the business and user requirements with regard to data quality is the foundation of our service. What data is used where, where does it reside, how it is accessed, the impact on reporting and BI and regulatory and compliance requirements all feed into our approach to a data quality audit. An Atos Data Quality Audit will utilise considerable skills and knowledge in this area, using tools for data discovery, profiling for data quality and health checking the entire infrastructure, to ensure success and drive the design of ETL processes to migrate the data. 2.3 Capabilities The service is delivered by experienced, professionally accredited technologists in the following disciplines: Atos CLAS Consultants Data Quality Consultants Business Process Experts Project Managers Data Architects. 2.4 Development Methodology Atos has a fully proven software development methodology to provide develop services in many disciplines and platforms. To maintain good practice and a common approach Atos development practitioners use the same tools, follow the same work flow, and use the same templates and processes. Atos uses its Global Delivery Platform (GDP) to deliver software projects. Within the GDP are processes and templates specific to data quality audits which are known and followed by all of our practitioners. The GDP is organised around three process groups; Management, Engineering and Support processes. 3

At contract initiation the reference GDP process is tailored based on the project needs, taking into consideration complementary processes from the customer when required. Every selection of a non-standard element is justified by a business reason with any major deviations being documented and requiring approval. Using the resulting Process Tailoring document, an Operational Delivery Plan (ODP) is created, acting as the principal document for the execution of the project. 2.5 Tooling & Infrastructure All Data Quality Audit projects are supported by world-class tooling and infrastructure: Atos has capabilities in a range of Data Quality tools, e.g. IBM, SAP, Informatica, Infoshare, Talend, Oracle, SAS Dataflux. 2.6 Service Roadmap Not applicable to this service. 4
