STAFF CANDACE HODNETT - OWNER Candace has been in the food and beverage industry for over 15 years. Her career in hospitality began in college, where she took up bartending in South Florida. Her passion for food developed shortly after returning from college where she worked her way up the ladder from bartending to management, spending almost ten years within multiple venues under the China Grill Management restaurant group. Working for a large restaurant group in NYC helped Candace refine the skills necessary to fulfilling her dream of restaurant ownership. A true entrepreneur at heart, in 2013 by the time she reached 30 years old Candace s dream came true when Brix Restaurant & Pizza bar was born. With Brix now going into its fourth year of operation, Candace has worked hard to maintain her dream of creating a unique, comfortable, hometown dining experience for the neighborhood to enjoy. Being a hands-on owner is so important because success is the result of true passion for what you do. STAFF JACKIE FUCHS - HEAD CHEF A self-proclaimed Jersey Girl, Jackie Fuchs grew up in Belleville where she developed a passion for cooking by watching her father, an accomplished chef, cook daily family meals. Jackie always wanted to be a chef. She began her journey into the kitchen as a server with aspirations to learn every part of the restaurant business. She took her next step when she enrolled into culinary school and began developing her own unique style. As she progressed through culinary school Jackie knew she was right where she wanted to be, in the kitchen and wearing a chef s coat. While working on her externship Jackie auditioned for the Fox TV series Hell s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsay and just 2 weeks after graduation she began filming as one of 18 chefs competing for the season 15 title. Jackie now brings her style, and experience on Hell s Kitchen, to the menu here at Brix. She enjoys pushing the limits to develope new trends and new flavors making Brix one of NJ s top dining destinations. Belleville Restaurant Features Hometown Hell s Kitchen Contestant: Brix Head Chef Jackie Fuchs competes on Fox s Hell s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsay BELLEVILLE, NJ Brix Restaurant and Pizza Bar has pulled in diners from all over North Jersey with an Italian inspired menu featuring specialty pizzas and traditional local dishes with a fresh twist. On Jan. 15th, Brix will deliver yet another reason to dine in Belleville as their hometown Head Chef, Jackie Fuchs, makes her television debut as one of 18 chefs competing on season 15 of Fox s Hell s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsay. Inspired by her father s cooking, Jackie grew up in Belleville with a dream to be just like him, she recalled: He was a chef for The Mint in Las Vegas and he always cooked. He always made gravy and meatballs and I always looked up to him and said, I wish I could cook like him. This passion lead Jackie to culinary school where she began to develop her own identity as a chef. When describing her cooking style Jackie says: I would say I cook very new age. I want to create dishes that nobody has ever seen before, and flavors that nobody has ever thought of putting together. Jackie auditioned for Hell s Kitchen while completing her externship and just two short weeks after graduation she began filming the show. Although Jackie can t give up the juicy details of this season of Hell s Kitchen, she did share a few thoughts about her experience: To MEDIA Press Release - January 2016 work with Gordon Ramsay was the most amazing experience. Being on the show completely changed how I am as a chef. I was right out of school I went there so I was a rookie. I just soaked up everything, everything that was being shown to me, that literally gave me years of experience that I would have never had just working. It really pushed me over the edge as a chef. Jackie now finds herself back home as the Head Chef of Brix Restaurant and Pizza Bar in Belleville where proud owner Candace Hodnett features a menu highlighting all of Jackie s talents. So what should visitors expect from Brix? They can expect to eat delicious food accompanied by friendly service that exceeds expectations says Jackie. We try to bring new trends to classic dishes. Guests will have a great experience when they come here. My goal is to make us one of the top 5 places to eat in NJ. Season 15 of Fox s Hell s Kitchen with Gordon Ramsay (and Jackie Fuchs) premieres Jan. 15th.
