COURSE DESCRIPTION: As the final component in the series of 4 Digital Production Studio courses, students will given the opportunity to create two major collaborative team projects. PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Senior status in the BA in DAS program/ successful completion of DPS 1-3 PURPOSE OF COURSE: To provide an advanced-level opportunity utilizing lectures, team-based collaboration, digital media project presentations and deliverables, and discussions of protocols and practices in the professional design and production studio world to help ensure graduating seniors are best equipped to succeed in the marketplace. COURSE GOALS AND/OR OBJECTIVES: By the end of this course, students will be able to: Showcase two major digital media artifacts in which they have played a significant and defined role Demonstrate familiarity and understanding of contemporary practices related to professional media production studios Demonstrate fluency in written, graphic, and oral communications Demonstrate competence in preparing and giving professional-level presentation of the work of their respective design and production teams Add two major pieces of work to their portfolio with clear attribution of their role in creating the artifacts COURSE SCHEDULE: This course incorporates lecture, and discussion, group learning projects and student---created presentations. Individual assignments will be explained in detail as the course progresses. AREAS for EVALUATION Points % Team-based Proposals and Presentation Each student will participate in the formation and operation of two team-based,digital media projects. In each case the Production Studio will collaborate on a specific assignment from start to finish; including the concept development, initial proposal and subsequent presentations to class and faculty. Evaluation will come from both peer review and from faculty mentor(s) based content, quality of preparation, production value, and concise delivery. 200 20% Design Assignments Each student will produce original production related designs which can be added to their contribution to the resultant projects. Mr. McIntosh will be giving in depth design knowledge transfers during class time on Thursdays. 100 10% Class Participation and Attendance Students are expected to actively participate in class objectives, both in class as well as in online forums, and collaborate effectively in team-based projects with progressive results at milestones throughout the semester 100 10% Midterm Project Deliverable Individual work and accomplishment in the development, presentations, and completion of the Midterm Project.
