Create a Profile, Search and View Online Postings Online external postings can be accessed from the Careers section on the Northern Health website www.northernhealth.ca and clicking on Careers. Careers Page Once on the Careers page, you can do the following: Check out our featured jobs. We feature four new jobs every week. Have direct access to our ExpectMore site where you set up your account by creating your profile and search for jobs. Click on Easy Access to External Postings to enter our ExpectMore application so you can create your on-line profile and search for jobs. Page 4 of 17 Created: July, 2011
Create Your Profile in Four Easy Steps Step 1 Setting up Your Profile To be considered for any of our positions, you are required to create an on-line profile. Begin by clicking on Create Your Profile. When you click on Create Your Profile, Terms of Use page will open. To continue you must choose I Agree. Choosing I Disagree says you do not agree with the terms and you will not be able to continue. Page 5 of 17 Created: July, 2011
Step 2 Fill in Basic Information To create your profile, you will require a unique Email address and Password. Two people cannot use the same email address to create 2 separate profiles. Note: The postal code you enter in your profile has to be in upper case and has to have a space between the characters example W1W 2X2. All fields with an asterisk (*) must be completed. Step 3 Answer Three Important Questions You will be asked to answer three basic questions. Please ensure that you choose the correct answer to each question because an incorrect answer may disqualify your application for certain positions. Page 6 of 17 Created: July, 2011
Step 4 Verify Your Information Please verify that your information is correct. If not, click on the Back button to go to the previous screens. If the information is correct, click on Submit. Once you create a profile, the system will send you an email asking you to activate your profile within 7 days please check your spam or junk folders if you don t see this email within 24 hours. After you have activated your profile, you can Sign In, upload Attachments and use your on-line profile to Apply to our postings. I Cannot Access My Profile If you did not receive an activation email or did not activate your profile within 7 days of receiving this email, please follow the instructions below. You can request for the email activation to be sent to you again. Please go to the Sign In screen and attempt to login (you MUST know your profile email address and password). Please note you can only request this once per 24 hours. Follow the instructions in the pink box. Page 7 of 17 Created: July, 2011
Passwords Important Information A few things to note about passwords on our system: The password email will be sent to the Profile Email Address you used to create your profile. When you request a recovery of your password and you don t see it in your inbox, check your spam or junk folder for the recovered password email. Passwords are case sensitive so ensure your Caps Lock is off. If you attempt to put in your password too many times, the system will lock you out for 24 hours this is for your protection in the event an unauthorized person tries to get into your profile. The system does not allow us to see your password - we cannot reset it or provide it to you. See Appendix A, B, C & D for more information on customizing your profile. It is to your benefit to review the customization of your profile and to give us as much information as you can. Apply to Postings Once you have activated your profile you will be able to apply for careers with Northern Health. Step 1 - Sign In Begin by clicking on to Sign In. Page 8 of 17 Created: July, 2011
Enter the email address and password you set up with your Profile. This will bring you back to the Welcome page. Step 2 Search for Careers Click on Search for Careers to begin your job search. You are required to choose at least one of the search criteria to move forward with the job search. For this example the Job Region North Interior is chosen. If you are unsure which job region a community is in, check out our Communities section of the website. Clicking on the job title will open the job for your review. Page 9 of 17 Created: July, 2011
At the top of all our postings, it states You must sign in before you can apply for this position. By clicking on Click here you will prompt the sign in page. Once you click on Click here it will take you to the sign in page where you will enter your profile email address and password. See image below for a list of options to select from. Attach your resume and/or your coverletter for this position and click on Submit. Comfirm that your information is correct. Managing My Profile Once you have signed in, you can manage the information in your profile and add any attachments such as a resume, certificates, etc. You start by clicking on Manage Your Profile. Appendix B - Attachments The system requires you to have at least one attachment uploaded to your profile to apply to postings. If you do not, you will not be able to apply. Our website gives detailed instructions on how to upload attachments. You can add your attachments such as a resume and/or certificates. Please note that these are the document versions we accept for attachments: Microsoft Word (.doc or.docx) or Adobe Acrobat Reader (.pdf) or Text File (.txt) or Rich Text Format File (.rtf) Graphic or Photo File (.jpg) or High Quality Graphic File (.tif) Please ensure your resume is in one of these formats or use conversion programs available to convert to the formats we accept. We are unable to convert documents created in any other programs or applications. If you are unable to convert your attachments in any of these formats, we recommend you scan them in the formats we accept and then upload them to your profile. Page 14 of 17 Created: July, 2011
Appendix C Career Preferences This Career Preference page allows you to customize the jobs that you see when you sign in as shown in the diagram below. The For Your Information section of the Welcome page will show you the jobs available based on the criteria you chose in the Career Preference section of your profile. It also allows us to search our applicant database to match you to our hard to fill positions. Let us now customize your on-line profile. 1. Click on Career preferences. 2. Select your work schedule(s) that best fits your lifestyle. 3. Select the location(s) you would be willing to relocate to. Click on a location and then using the Add Location button, move the location over to your Preferred Locations area. To choose more than one, hold down the Crtl button on your keyboard and then choose your areas. Page 15 of 17 Created: July, 2011
4. Select the category that match your qualifications and experience. 5. Once you select your category it will populate the jobs related to the category in the Category s Areas of Expertise area. You can now move the area of expertise that fits your qualifications and experience over to the Your Areas of Expertise section by clicking on the area of expertise and then clicking on the Add Area button. To choose more than one, hold down the Crtl button on your keyboard and then choose your areas. If there is more than one category you fit into, repeat the steps in (5). 6. Appendix D Email and Password Update 1. Your email address is your Profile ID. Please update any change of email address in your online profile. 2. You can change your password at any time.
