Document Purpose This document describes the functionality in Asigra Cloud Backup TM Software Release v12, the process to install or upgrade to this release, as well as new features, new products, bug fixes and known issues for Asigra Software or Third Party Software. Asigra Software Release v12 is a branded release. See the Asigra Policies document (Asigra Branding Policy section) for more details. Minimum Version Compatibility The version of the product and the minimum version compatibility requirement is listed in the Help > About section of each Asigra Product. When planning to upgrade to v12, plan to upgrade the entire Asigra software suite to ensure the Asigra Software components are compatible with each other and can communicate (with the exception of DS-License Server which is currently backwards compatible). V12 ios DS-Client and Android DS-Client are only compatible with DS-System v12. Installation Path New installations of Asigra Software v12 are fully supported on the platforms listed in the Installation and Backup & Restore Support Matrix for v12 document. Use the Asigra Software provided on the Asigra v12 DVD in order to install the Asigra Software on supported platforms. Asigra Cloud Backup TM Software v12 is available for download to all of Asigra s existing customers that have current and valid Annual Software Maintenance and Version Upgrade Subscription. Asigra Cloud Backup TM Software release v12 is a branded release. Customers who have purchased branding from Asigra should wait for their branded version of the Software before upgrading (branded versions of Asigra Software v12 will still be shipped by DVD). Please follow the installation instructions available in the Installation Guides of each product for more details about the configurations to perform before or after the installation of a Software product. You may start installing the Asigra Software Products in the following order (assuming you will be using all of them): Install DS-License Server Software. Upgrade Path to v12 Upgrade to Asigra Software v12 is supported from v11.2 ONLY. If you are running older versions of the Asigra software, you must first upgrade to v11.2 and then proceed with the upgrade to v12. Upgrade Steps: License Server Upgrade: Run the v12 DS-License Server Software Installation on an existing v11.2 DS-License Server Software to Upgrade a Production DS-License Server Software to v12. If applicable, update the license on the Production License Server (only if you requested/purchased changes to the licensed storage capacity or tools). Run the v12 DS-License Server Software Installation on an existing v11.2 Emergency DS-License Server Software to Upgrade Emergency DS-License Server Software to v12. Make sure you run the installation for DS-License Server Software v12 on all locations where Emergency DS-License Servers are installed for the same license ID. NOTE: v11.2 and v12 DS-License Server are compatible with DS-System, and BLM Archiver Software v11.2 and v12. As such, the upgrade of the DS-License Server application can be run at any time. However, if you are running DS-NOC in your environment, then the DS-License Server should be first upgraded to v12, followed by DS-NOC and followed by all other applications interacting with DS-NOC: i.e. DS-System, BLM Archiver, etc. DS-System Upgrade: Run the v12 DS-System installation on top of the existing v11.2 DS-System installation (follow any particular steps listed in the Installation Guide for the specific product, especially for N+1 DS-Systems). Once the upgrade finishes successfully, ensure that the Emergency DS-License Server configured for the DS-System is the same as the Emergency DS-License Server configured in the License Server Upgrade step. BLM Archiver Upgrade: Run the v12 BLM Archiver installation on top of the existing v11.2 BLM Archiver installation (follow any particular steps listed in the Installation Guide for the specific product). Once the upgrade finishes successfully, ensure that the Emergency DS-License Server configured for the BLM Archiver is the same as the Emergency DS-License Server configured in the License Server Upgrade step. FullFeatured DS-Clients / DS-Mobile Clients / DS-Notebook Clients / DS-Consumer Clients /Java DS-User /Win32 DS-User /DS-Recovery Tools (DS-MLR / MS-SharePoint Agent) / Remote DS-VDR Upgrade: When upgrading the DS-System to v12, the auto-upgrade packages will be placed in the DS-System Upgrade folder for the above mentioned products. When the FullFeatured DS-Clients connect to DS-System, they will download auto-upgrade packages for themselves as well as applicable auto-upgrade packages for the rest of the components that connect to DS-Client. In addition, these components will auto-upgrade from FullFeatured DS-Clients, where applicable. When DS-Mobile Clients, DS-Notebook Clients and DS-Consumer Clients connect to DS-System, they will download auto-upgrade packages for themselves. These auto-upgrade packages will upgrade the services and GUIs to v12 of the Asigra Software, thereby ensuring version compatibility with DS-System. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 8

When DS-System connects to Remote DS-VDR for a scheduled activity, DS-System and Remote DS-VDR will verify their version compatibility. If a version mismatch is detected, then DS-System will look for an appropriate upgrade package in the DS-System Upgrade folder. If one is found, DS-System will push the upgrade package to the Remote DS-VDR Tool. NOTE: Upgrade can also be run manually on these products by simply running the v12 GUI installations on the machines where these products are installed. DS-NOC Upgrade and Configuration: Upgrade DS-NOC software following the installation instructions listed in the DS-NOC Installation Guide. Upload the DS-Client Software v12 to DS-NOC, in the Software Download section. Note: The Linux/Mac DS-Client packages from the DS-System Upgrade folder can only be run without command line parameters. If you would like to trigger the Linux/Mac DS-Client installation with the command line parameters listed in the DS-Client Installation Guides, use the installation packages from the DS-Client Linux and Mac Installation folders on the release DVD. I/O Load Test Tool Upgrade: The latest version of the I/O Load Test Tool is v4.0. You do not need to upgrade the I/O Load Test Tool, since it is a standalone tool which does not interact with any of the Asigra Software components. ios DS-Client Upgrade: Multiple versions of ios DS-Client are maintained in Apple's AppStore. Previously, ios DS-Client was backwards compatible, however starting with v12, ios DS-Client is only compatible with DS-System v12. To upgrade the ios DS-Client to v12, customers need to download v12 ios DS-Client and install it on their Apple devices. When the application is launched, the application will try to import the settings of the previously installed ios DS-Client on the same device (i.e. same account number, DS-Client number, DS-System IP Addresses, encryption keys, etc). Asigra Licensing DS-System and BLM Archiver licenses can only be retrieved from the DS-License Server application. Overview of Asigra Licensing The DS-License Server software product allows running multiple DS-System and BLM Archiver installations which are licensed from the DS-License Server by managing only one license file and one license location. The DS-License Server provides a total licensed capacity for DS-Systems as well as for BLM Archivers, which can then be split by the DS-License Server administrator to multiple DS-Systems and BLM Archivers, depending on the type of license purchased and the products purchased. The total number of DS-Systems and BLM Archivers available are pre-configured in advance by Asigra, and may only be changed by Asigra. For more details about the DS-License Server, please see the Asigra Policies document, Asigra Licensing Policy section. The DS-License Server can be installed on 32-bit or 64-bit Operating Systems and will run as a 32-bit application. For more details on the Operating Systems supported for installation of the DS-License Server, see the Installation & Backup and Restore Support Matrix Document for v12. DS-Systems and BLM Archivers are supported on Windows and Linux Operating Systems running on 64-bit Virtual Machines or physical machines. For more details on the Operating Systems supported, see the Installation & Backup and Restore Support Matrix Document for v12. The DS-License Server is able to serve DS-Systems and BLM Archivers installed in the same geographical location or in different geographical locations. The DS-License Server can provide the following license types to the DS-Systems (depending on what was purchased for the DS-License Server): Standalone or N+1 FullFeatured DS-System (including Online Storage License and Local-Only Storage License) Standalone or N+1 Mobile DS-System (Online Storage License only) Standalone or N+1 Consumer DS-System (Online Storage License only) Replication Standalone or N+1 DS-System And the following license types to the BLM Archiver (depending on what was purchased for the DS-License Server): FullFeatured BLM Archiver Replication BLM Archiver And the following Tools: DS-NOC Remote DS-VDR ( available for FullFeatured DS-System licenses only) Local DS-VDR ( available for for FullFeatured DS-System licenses only) Snapshot Manager ( available for FullFeatured DS-System licenses only) Asigra Inc. MobileClient.exe a combined installation for 32-bit and 64-bit Operating Systems for DS-Mobile Client which automatically detects the OS architecture and runs the adequate installation. The individual installations for 32-bit and 64-bit Operating Systems for DS-Mobile Client are still available on the release DVD for v12. Unused Asigra Hardware DS-Keys Unused DS-License Server hardware DS-Keys must be returned to Asigra Inc.'s Toronto office, since the DS-Keys remain the property of Asigra Inc. Upgrade to Asigra Hot Fixes or Service Packs When upgrading any Asigra Software to the latest Service Pack or HOT FIX, you do not need to upgrade to intermediate Service Packs or HOT FIXES. The latest Service Pack / HOT FIX includes all the changes included in previous versions of the Asigra Software. Installation of DS-Clients Under the Same Account When planning to install Android DS-Client, ios DS-Client, and PC DS-Clients under the same account, the Account Encryption Key Type selected must be AES128 which is supported by all Asigra DS-Clients. If a different account encryption key is chosen, then a separation of DS-Client installations under different accounts may be required. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. v12 New Installation and Functionality Support Remote DS-VDR Tool Starting with v12, Asigra has released a new software product named Remote DS-VDR. Remote DS-VDR can be run on Linux Operating Systems as listed in the Installation and Backup & Restore Support Matrix for v12 document. Remote DS-VDR Installation is an RPM Package installation. The daemon is running without a database and without a GUI interface. Its configuration is done via DS-Operator GUI. Remote DS-VDR allows restoring VMware Virtual Machines to an ESX Server for failover and disaster recovery purposes as an add-on service for customers. To install Remote DS-VDR, login as root to the target installation computer and run: rpm -i remote_ds-vdr-12.0.0.0-linux.x86_64.rpm The Remote DS-VDR Tool will be installed on the target computer in /opt/cloudbackup/remote_ds-vdr. Remote DS-VDR will auto-upgrade automatically from DS-System, as long as auto-upgrade packages are available in the Upgrade folder. The upgrade can also be done manually by running the RPM package with an upgrade parameter. Remote DS-VDR Tool can restore the last generation for selected VMs in a VMware VADP backup set either on schedule or on demand. When an on demand Remote DS-VDR restore is triggered, DS-Operator allows selecting which backup session to restore and for N+1 DS-Systems, the node that performs the Remote DS-VDR activity. DS-VDR will perform a Full VM restore every time the VM is restored. VMs will be restored with a name similar to the following template: RVDR_ VMName_Timestamp where Timestamp is the time of the backup session that is being restored. The "Power On" option is available for each VM that is restored by RVDR. Power on of the Virtual Machines is made in the priority configured in the DS-Operator. This allows you to power on Domain Controllers before MS Exchange Servers, etc. DS-System can be configured to send an E-Mail notification at the end of the Remote DS-VDR Restore process, which includes a summary of the Remote DS-VDR activity: which VMs were restored successfully, if any failed, which VMs failed to be restored, etc. One or more DS-Systems can connect to the same Remote DS-VDR Software Installation. Remote DS-VDR has a parameter in its configuration file, called "MaxRestore" which specifies how many Remote DS-VDR Restore activities can take place from the same software installation at the same time. By default, the value of this parameter is 5. DS-System has two new advanced parameters which control the wait time and the number of retry times for Remote DS-VDR Restore ("RemoteVDRRetry" and "RemoteVDRWait"). Installation and functionality of Remote DS-VDR Tool is supported on: Linux SUSE Enterprise Server 11 SP2 (x64) Linux RHEL 6.2 (x64) Linux RHEL 6.3 (x64) Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 12

Local DS-VDR Tool Starting with v12, Asigra has released a new software product named Local DS-VDR. Local DS-VDR can be run on Windows Operating Systems as listed in the Installation and Backup & Restore Support Matrix for v12 document. Local DS-VDR Installation installs a service and allows installing a MS SQL Server Express database instance as well. The configuration of the Local DS-VDR Tool is done during the installation and via the DS-User GUI from either Windows or Linux DS-Client. Local DS-VDR backup sets are created via VMware VADP backup sets in both Windows and Linux DS-Clients. This functionality allows cloning VMware Virtual Machines to an ESX Server for failover and disaster recovery purposes as an add-on service for customers. Local DS-VDR can be instructed to Clone Virtual Machine including the existing snapshots and to also clone the Virtual Machine memory. When cloning a Virtual Machine with the memory option enabled, the result of the clone process will have a snapshot that contains the memory information and the resulting Virtual Machine should be reverted to that snapshot. Local DS-VDR Tool also allows converting Physical Windows machines into Virtual Machines for a VMware ESX infrastructure. The conversion process is done with the help of the VMware vcenter Converter Service which must also be installed on the Local DS-VDR machine as a pre-requisite for this backup set type. Local DS-VDR will attempt to deploy the VMware vcenter Converter Agent to the source machine which needs to be converted. If a vcenter Converter Agent already exists on the machine, the P2V conversion process or backup set creation process will simply continue. Installation and functionality of Local DS-VDR Tool is supported on: Windows 2008 R2 SP1 (x64) Standard and Enterprise Windows 2012 (x64) Standard and Datacenter Deliver MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1 with Windows FullFeatured DS-Client Starting with v12, MS SQL Server Express 2005 SP4 database instance delivered with Windows FullFeatured DS-Clients has been replaced with MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1 database instance. For new Windows FullFeatured DS-Client installations, the user installing the software is prompted to select installing a MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1 database instance or to select using an existing MS SQL Server instance. The advantage of using MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express is that the database size limitation from Microsoft is no longer 4 GB (instead, it is 10 GB). When a FullFeatured Windows DS-Client is auto-upgraded, the installation attempts to update the MS SQL Server 2005 Express database instance to a MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express database instance. If the database instance upgrade process fails, installation continues to try to apply the database patches. The database instance upgrade process may fail if: DS-Client database instance is older than MS SQL Server 2005 Express DS-Client database instance is running on Operating Systems/patches older than Windows Vista SP2, Windows 2008 SP2, Windows 2003 SP2, Windows XP 32-bit SP3, and Windows XP 64-bit SP2. The process of upgrading the MS SQL Server 2005 Express to MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1 may take some time. The DS-Client installation should be allowed to continue and should not be stopped. Deliver MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1 with Windows DS-System & DS-Billing Starting with v12, MS SQL Server 2005 Express SP4 database instance delivered with Windows DS-System and Windows DS-Billing has been replaced with MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1 database instance. Only new Windows DS-System and DS-Billing installations allow the user to select if a new MS SQL Express instance should be installed or to select an existing one. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 13

Embedded Database for Linux DS-Billing Software In v12, Linux DS-Billing installations are delivered with a PostgreSQL (v9.1) Embedded Database Instance. This database instance is installed and configured by Asigra DS-Billing for new installations of the software. New DS-Billing installations will communicate with this database instance via Unix sockets. The database instance files and data files can be found in the DS-Billing installation directory. For upgrades of Linux DS-Billing from older versions to v12, the installation will simply upgrade the software and DS-Billing daemon will apply the database patches on the existing database instance at first startup. The installation will not install the embedded database and the DS-Billing daemon will continue to communicate with the existing database instance via TCP/IP. Important Note: To start the embedded database that comes with Linux DS-Billing installation, a regular user (not a super user) is required for security reasons (Asigra uses the user "dsbilling", which is created when running the DS-Billing installation with no rights to login to the Operating System). Therefore, DS-Billing using the embedded database must be installed in a location available to this regular user. For instance, installing DS-Billing to /root will cause the DS-Billing daemon startup to fail since it cannot start its database instance. Ensure you install the DS-Billing with the embedded PostgreSQL database to a directory with permissions 0755 or 'rwxr-xr-x'. Restore of individual videos New Software Local DS-VDR Local DS-VDR Software allows cloning VMs on ESX Server and converting physical machines* into Virtual Machines for disaster recovery and failover purposes. Local DS-VDR can be installed on Windows x64 machines. See Installation and Backup & Restore Support Matrix for more information on supported Operating Systems. Local DS-VDR license can be purchased for DS-License Server Licenses for FullFeatured DS-Systems. Local DS-VDR licenses are enabled via a counter which represents the number of VMs on the Source ESX Server/Physical Machines which can be cloned at any one time to the Destination ESX Server. Each DS-System can be allocated a specific number of Local DS-VDR licenses. The cloning process can be triggered on schedule or on demand. The Physical to Virtual (P2V) conversion process can also be triggered on schedule or on demand. The P2V conversion is done via the VMware Converter tool. This tool must be installed on the machine that needs to be converted (agent) and on the machine that is running the Local DS-VDR Tool (server). The functionality exists on both Windows and Linux DS-Clients and it is available for Windows Virtual Machines only*. To create Local DS-VDR backup sets that will clone selected Virtual Machines, use the VMware VADP backup set type on both Windows and Linux DS-Client. Remote DS-VDR Remote DS-VDR Software allows restoring as many VMs as needed directly from the DS-System from VMware VADP Backup Sets at VM level for disaster recovery and failover purposes. Remote DS-VDR can be installed on Linux x64 machines. See Installation and Backup & Restore Support Matrix for more information on supported Operating Systems. It is supported with both Windows and Linux DS-Systems. It can be installed on the same machine as the Linux DS-System, or on a different machine from the Linux DS-System. However, Asigra recommends installing it on different machines for better performance. Remote DS-VDR license can be purchased for DS-License Server Licenses for FullFeatured DS-Systems. Remote DS-VDR licenses are validated via a counter which represents the number of backup sets on the FullFeatured DS-System (licensed by the DS-License Server) that can use the Remote DS-VDR functionality. Each DS-System can be allocated a specific number of Remote DS-VDR licenses. Remote DS-VDR can restore VMs backed up with VMware VADP backup sets at VM level. Remote DS-VDR Restore can be triggered by a schedule (one time, daily, weekly) or at the end of a backup activity, retention activity, or validation restore activity. It can also be triggered manually. Remote DS-VDR requires the encryption keys of the DS-Client to be forwarded and maintained in the DS-System database. The tool can perform concurrent restores for VMs backed up in the same or different backup sets, even if the data is encrypted with different encryption keys. Remote DS-VDR is auto-upgraded from DS-System when upgrade packages exist in the Upgrade folder. *as supported by VMware Converter Software Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Salesforce.com Plug-in Installing the Salesforce.com Plug-in on the DS-Client computer allows creating and running backup and recovery operations for Salesforce data with the Windows DS-Client. This new backup set type allows Salesforce objects (found in database and tables) to be backed up and restored, either to an external database or to the salesforce.com cloud. Database schema can also be backed up and restored as an option for Salesforce backup sets. When uploading data to salesforce.com, the schema of the database where the data is saved must be identical with the database schema that existed when the data was backed up, otherwise some of the restore operations (insert operations) into salesforce.com may fail. Backup of Salesforce data is supported via a proxy server. DS-Recovery Tools for MS SharePoint 2010 SP1 Starting with v12, DS-Recovery Tools x64 installation is supported on servers running MS SharePoint 2010 SP1. See Installation and Backup and Restore Support Matrix document for Operating Systems supported for DS-Recovery Tools installation. Recovery of MS SharePoint 2010 SP1 at item-level (site collections, sub-sites, full lists and list items) can be done via the DS-Client and the DS-Recovery Tools software from existing database backups of MS SharePoint 2010 using the MS SharePoint VSS-aware database-level backup set type. New Functionality DS-License Server DS-License Server licenses allow enabling Local DS-VDR, Remote DS-VDR and Snapshot Manager Tools for FullFeatured DS-System licenses. For Local DS-VDR, this license can then be allocated to individual FullFeatured DS-Clients and can license the usage of the Local DS-VDR Tool. For Remote DS-VDR, this license can be allocated to individual FullFeatured DS-Clients that have VMware VADP Backup Sets. The Snapshot Manager functionality is enabled from the DS-System to its DS-Clients individually, however if the DS-License Server has the tool enabled then all DS-Systems registered with that DS-License Server will have the Snapshot Manager tool enabled. SNMP Traps Monitoring for License Events Starting with v12, DS-License Server enables monitoring of license events via SNMP traps. Some of the events that can be monitored are: [x] days up to license expiration, [x]% of the license's storage capacity limit has been reached, and heartbeat monitoring. DS-System Retrieve Generations Marked as Corrupted on Production DS-Systems from Replication DS-Systems In v12, if Autonomic Healing, System Admin, System Validation, or Validation Restore find files that are corrupted, they will try to retrieve the data from the existing Replication DS-Systems (if they are configured) in the same Replication Group. Only if this fails, the DS-Client will then be notified and the backup set will be marked as "out of sync" and DS-Client will initiate a transfer of another version of the file over the WAN. Corrupted generations will be fixed (retrieved from a DS-System in the Replication Group), starting from the last DS-System that had a good copy of the corrupted generation. If that DS-System no longer has a good copy, the DS-System will check each of the other DS-Systems in the Replication Group until one of them has the required generation or until all of them have been checked, at which point the DS-Client will be notified. One GUI Step to Reset Hardware Information for DS-Clients Up to v12, resetting the hardware information for a DS-Client involved two separate steps. Starting with v12, resetting the hardware information is now done in one step with the possibility of extending the re-registration time window from DS-Operator GUI, individually for each DS-Client. Ability to Enable/Disable BLM Tool for DS-Clients When creating or editing DS-Clients via DS-System, DS-NOC or DS-Billing and the existing APIs, BLM Tool has been added as a selection in the DS-Tools list to be enabled for a DS-Client. In order for customers to be able to push data to a BLM Archiver, the BLM Tool must be enabled and the DS-System must be registered with an installed and configured BLM Archiver (for which a license is required in the DS-License Server). When this tool is disabled, DS-Clients will not be able to push data to archiving. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 21

DS-Client Multi-Tenant Configuration: Order all Lists by Customer Name In v12, all customer lists available in DS-User GUI (Win32 or Java) for Multi-tenant DS-Clients are ordered by Customer Name as opposed to Customer ID as in previous versions of the software. Support SSL and TLS for E-Mail Notifications Starting with v12, SSL and TLS are supported for E-Mail notifications for FullFeatured Windows and Linux/Mac DS-Client. The following E-Mail servers have been tested: Gmail (SSL& TLS), Yahoo Mail (SSL & TLS) and Hotmail (TLS). Backup of iseries Data with Option to Restore iseries Data into Prior iseries Versions By default, when backing up libraries or objects on iseries, these libraries and objects can be restored on the same version of iseries. However, iseries allows backup of these libraries and objects with an additional option that permits the backup application to restore the libraries or objects to a previous iseries version (previous to the version which they have been backed up from). Windows DS-Client Backup and Restore from the Cloud Starting with v12, Asigra supports backup and restore of Salesforce.com, at database and table level. In order to perform the backup, the Asigra Salesforce.com Plug-in installation must be run on the DS-Client machine. This installation will deploy the required files in the DS-Client installation directory. When creating a Salesforce.com backup set, a username and password and an identification cookie must be configured for the DS-Client. These values are used each time DS-Client performs a backup or a restore of the Salesforce.com backup set. When a previous database backup is maintained, DS-Client will only download the changes and back them up (master/delta processing, compression and encryption still apply to any data sent from DS-Client to DS-System). During restore, the data is retrieved from DS-System, put into a Firebird database, and then uploaded to the Salesforce.com cloud. Filter Online File Summary Based on Backup Set Type Starting with v12, Windows DS-Client allows showing the Online File Summary report data based on selection of backup set types: regular, self-contained, and local-only. Do not Drop Database Prior to Restore for MySQL Backup Sets An additional option is available for MySQL backup sets on Windows DS-Clients, which allows the end-user to choose if the MySQL database should be dropped (if it already exists, before the restore recreates it) or if the existing MySQL database should be kept and the restore should run on top of the existing database data. Linux/Mac FullFeatured DS-Client Snapshot Manager for NetApp Starting with v12, Linux DS-Client offers Snapshot Manager capabilities for NetApp. A NetApp volume or Qtree snapshot can be replicated via NetApp SnapVault to another NetApp volume and the functionality can be controlled via Asigra Linux DS-Client and DS-User. The process can be scheduled or triggered on demand and retention parameters can be assigned to the process for the destination NetApp volume/qtree. Bandwidth throttling functionality for the data transfer between the NetApp NAS is also available. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 22

NetApp NAS Backup using Snapdiff to Determine Changes In v11.2, FullFeatured DS-Clients support creating File System Backup Sets for NetApp NAS devices. These file system backup activities will make use of NetApp Snapshots to backup the data via CIFS or NFS shares (CIFS for Windows DS-Clients and NFS for Linux DS-Clients). When a file system backup activity for NAS is triggered, DS-Client will send a command to the NetApp System to create a snapshot and DS-Client will use the snapshot information to locate and backup the data to achieve consistency and handle file locking issues. At the end of the backup activity, DS-Client will issue a command to remove the snapshot. In v12, Linux FullFeatured DS-Clients have been enhanced to support backup of NetApp NAS devices via snapshots, with the option of using SnapDiff to determine the changes between a current snapshot and an older snapshot triggered by the DS-Client. Using SnapDiff is optimal when performing a backup of an entire NetApp volume, since NetApp's API returns the changes between the two compared snapshots at volume level. In the first phase of the backup activity, the DS-Client will only identify the changed files between previous backup session and current snapshot and then it will start processing and transferring the data. Using SnapDiff option may improve performance for specific scenarios, since DS-Client will no longer have to traverse the entire file system to determine new and changed files and directories. The SnapDiff option is only available when the backup source is NetApp and the backup destination (DS-System Online Storage) is NetApp storage, as well. Retry to Reconnect to Database when Connection Fails When Linux and Mac DS-Client start up, they try to connect to the PostgreSQL database (internal or external database instance). If connection is not possible, DS-Client will retry to reconnecting to the PostgreSQL database 50 times (in 1 second intervals). If the connection still fails after all retries have been exhausted, then the DS-Client daemon will stop. Support SELinux Attributes when Backing Up Starting with v12, Asigra Linux DS-Client supports backup of SELinux Attributes via Local File System backup sets, and SSH Backup Sets for source Operating Systems supporting this feature. This feature is provided as an additional option in the backup set and is disabled by default. When enabling it, additional information needs to be scanned for each file and directory and saved in the DS-Client database. Branded E-Mail Notification Subject In v11.2, by default, Linux/Mac FullFeatured DS-Clients would send an E-Mail notification with Asigra's name in the E-Mail Subject Line, not withstanding if the DS-Client was branded by MSP/Enterprise or was delivered with Asigra branding. Starting with v12, Linux/Mac FullFeatured DS-Client will use the Asigra brand name in the subject of the E-Mail notification if the software is using Asigra branding, or it will use the Company Brand Name in the subject of the E-Mail notification if the software is using custom branding. Installation Option: Start DS-Client when OS Restarts Linux/Mac DS-Client Installations have an option to Start DS-Client when the Operating System is reboots. Up to v12, the default behavior was to restart the DS-Client daemon when the OS was rebooted. Starting with v12, the behavior is configurable during installation, with the default being that the DS-Client daemon will restart when the OS boots. Update Backup Sets, Retention Rules, Schedules and DS-Client Configuration via XML Starting with v12, DS-Client allows updating backup sets, retention rules, schedules and DS-Client Configuration via XML, either sent to the DS-Client via DS-System or DS-NOC or when the XML file is copied manually to DS-Client Installation directory. Support VMware VADP Backup Set Definition Export/Import via XML Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 23

VMware VADP backup set definitions can be exported using Setup menu > Export to XML functionality. VMware VADP backup set definitions can be imported by Linux DS-Client by copying the config-update.xml file in the DS-Client installation directory, or by sending this XML definition via DS-NOC, or via DS-System Central Policy Management. Automatically Exclude System Folders for Solaris and Solaris Zones Backup File System backup sets via SSH automatically exclude from the backup the contractfs, objectfs and proc file systems on Solaris and Solaris zonefs machines. Ability to Export Reports Starting with v12, Java DS-User connecting to FullFeatured DS-Client (Linux and Mac) allows exporting DS-Client reports in different formats such as PDF, DOC, etc. Support --version to Get Software Version from Command Line In v12, Linux DS-Client, Mac DS-Client and DS-Notebook Client support the --version" parameter. When run from command line, this parameter will return the DS-Client version to avoid having to login to the DS-User to retrieve this information. This feature is also supported for the Remote DS-VDR software. Dump DS-Client Database in the DS-Client Buffer Prior to an Upgrade After upgrading to v12, FullFeatured DS-Client on Linux and Mac will dump the DS-Client database in the Buffer directory prior to applying a new version upgrade. Advanced Configuration Parameters for FullFeatured Linux and Mac DS-Client Up to v12, Advanced Configuration Parameters for FullFeatured Linux and Mac DS-Client could only be modified in the dsclient.cfg file. Starting with v12, Advanced Configuration Parameters for Linux and Mac FullFeatured DS-Clients are included in the Setup menu, Configuration window, Advanced Tab in 4 different Categories. See the DS-User Guide for more details about supported Advanced Configuration parameters. Advanced Configuration parameters can also be setup using XML Auto-Configuration functionality. Reports: Online File Summary Support Linux and Mac FullFeatured DS-Client can show statistics about the number of files and size of the files, a total and a list of new files and changed files which can be saved manually for this report. The report can be filtered to show data for regular backup sets, self-contained backup sets and local-only backup sets. DS-Mobile Client Update Backup Sets, Retention Rules, Schedules and DS-Client Configuration via XML Starting with v12, DS-Mobile Client has a dedicated DTD file to handle creating and updating items via XML. DS-Consumer Client Update Backup Set Items, Retention Rule, Schedule and DS-Client Configuration via XML Starting with v12, DS-Consumer Client allows updating the selected backup set items, retention configuration, schedule parameters and DS-Consumer Client configuration via XML, either sent to DS-Consumer Client via DS-System or DS-NOC or when the XML file is copied manually to the DS-Consumer installation directory. DS-Consumer Client has a dedicated DTD file to handle creating and updating items via XML. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 24

DS-Notebook Client Trigger Daily Admin After Initialization In v12, a new installed DS-Notebook Client will trigger a Daily Admin immediately after Initializing the DS-Client with Account #, DS-Client Number, DS-System IP Addresses and Encryption Keys. This Admin activity will trigger a connection to DS-System and a database dump and transfer to DS-System. Update Backup Set Items, Retention Rule, Schedule and DS-Client Configuration via XML Starting with v12, DS-Notebook Client allows updating the selected backup set items, retention configuration, schedule parameters and DS-Notebook Client configuration via XML, either sent to DS-Notebook Client via DS-System or DS-NOC or when the XML file is copied manually to the DS-Notebook Client installation directory. Hessian API Updates Support setdscregistrationinfo function for Windows DS-Clients ( to allow configuring Windows DS-Clients with Account Number, DS-Client Number, DS-System IPs, Encryption Key Types and Strings) Functions to allow triggering Daily/Weekly Admin activities via Hessian API Functions to allow specifying Open File Strategies for file system backup set on Windows DS-Clients Strong name for AsigraDSClientApi.dll Public key token updates for sspi.dll Documentation updates: missing parameters description, enumeration values in documentation description, automatically generated backup set IDs ios DS-Client (Apple) Performance Improvements There has been a major improvement for the backup and restore speed for ios photos and videos. The speed of the backup and restore has been improved by approximately 4-5 times. Additional options have been made available for restore: fast restore (scanning for existing items in the destination will skip restore however duplication of data may occur) this restore option is the fastest one, full scan restore (the scan and comparison between existing items in the destination and items selected for restore is fully performed) however this option is slower. Additionally, the space and memory requirements for the backup process have been reduced by changing the backup process to handle the backup data block by block as opposed to file-by-file as it was handled in previous versions of the ios Client. Device Specific GUI Display Starting with v12, the ios DS-Client is able to detect the type of device it is running on and is able to display a GUI interface compatible with the device type: i.e. iphone or ipad, based on their screen resolution. Common File Elimination ios DS-Client is able to detect identical files that have been sent to DS-System by previous backup activities from the same ios DS-Client, from different ios DS-Clients under the same account, or from different ios DS-Clients under different accounts. These files will be processed as common files if: File size is larger than 32 KB. Files that are common across the same ios DS-Client will be saved as Client Library files in DS-System, files that are common across different DS-Clients under the same account will be saved as Account Library files in DS-System, and files that are common across different DS-Clients in different accounts will be saved as Public Library files in DS-System (also depending on DS-System configuration). Incremental Forever Processing Starting with v12, ios DS-Client is able to identify changes to a file that was already backed up and will process and send to DS-System only those changes. The file will not be processed in its entirety for backup again unless it is corrupted or removed from DS-System. The first backup of a file will be saved on DS-System Online Storage as a Master generation and subsequent backups of the same file will be saved on DS-System Online Storage as Delta generations. Retention Rules Starting with v12, ios DS-Client allows configuring the number of generations to save for the selected backup items. Up to v12, ios Client would store all backed up generations on DS-System. A retention activity runs every time the backup activity completes (if retention is enabled) and enforces the configuration specified in the "Keep Last Generations" field. Show Settings Screen to Configure ios DS-Client after Installation Up to v12, ios DS-Client configuration had to be done using the global Settings configuration of the Apple device. Starting with v12, ios DS-Client can be configured from within the GUI when opening the application for the first time. The user can specify the DS-System IP Address, account number, account encryption key, DS-Client number, and private encryption keys. The Settings dialog from within the ios DS-Client can be used to adjust some of the DS-Client configuration parameters. Send Device Name to DS-System When configured from DS-System side, ios DS-Client will send its device name to the DS-System, where it will be saved in the DS-Client Description field and will be displayed in the DS-Operator tree beside the DS-Client number. The device name is only saved once and even if the device name changes, it will not be updated on the DS-System. Any later update must be done manually. Multiple IP Addresses Support for DS-System Connectivity Starting with v12, ios DS-Client supports specifying multiple IP Addresses for DS-System connections. This feature allows supporting Standalone DS-Systems with multiple IP Addresses and N+1 DS-Systems. Display Amount of Data Protected by Backup Session Starting with v12, ios DS-Client displays the amount of data protected by each backup session in the ios DS-Client Event Log. Enable/Disable Photo Stream Restore For ios 5 and above, when backing up photos, the option Photo Stream is always backed up. When restoring photos with ios DS-Client, the photos in the photo stream will be restored to the Camera Roll. However, if the same photo is restored from both Camera Roll and Photo Stream, then the file will be restored twice in the camera roll folder. Detection of WIFI or 3G Networks In the ios DS-Client Settings, the WIFI only setting is turned ON by default. When backing up with Asigra ios DS-Client with this setting is turned on, a warning is prompted on the screen to notify the user that their 3G network is being used and the user must select to either Cancel the backup session or to continue it. If the WIFI only setting is turned OFF, backup with Asigra ios DS-Client will continue without a warning. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Show Storage Quota and Usage Percentage on Main Screen The storage quota allocated for a DS-Client from the DS-System is displayed on the ios DS-Client main screen. The calculation method and usage percentage is retrieved by DS-Client at every connection to the DS-System and is displayed on the screen as well in graphical form. Android DS-Client Master/Delta Support for SD Card Backup Android DS-Client supports master/delta processing for SD Card data. When files on an SD Card are backed up for the first time, their data is saved as a Master generation (if files are larger than 32 KB). If the files are changed, the next backup session will only process the changes and send them to the DS-System and the generation will be saved as a Delta generation. Display Amount of Data Protected by Backup Session Starting with v12, Android DS-Client displays the amount of data protected by each backup session in the Android DS-Client Event Log. Incremental Forever Processing Starting with v12, Android Client is able to identify changes to a file that was already backed up and will process and send to DS-System only those changes. The file will not be processed in its entirety for backup again unless it is corrupted or removed from DS-System. Notify when 3G Network is Used A notification is displayed on the screen when the Android device being backed up switches its network from WIFI to 3G. The backup will only continue if the user agrees. Handling Sync with Account Server during Restore of Calendars Android DS-Client handles the synchronization with the account server when performing restore of calendar items. When the calendar restore is triggered, Android DS-Client verifies if the connection to the server is successful. If it is successful, synchronization is disabled, restore is done and the server is notified to ensure that calendar items are not overwritten with older info retrieved from server side. Send Device Name to DS-System When configured from DS-System side, Android DS-Client will send its device name to the DS-System, where it will be saved in the DS-Client Description field and will be displayed in DS-Operator tree beside the DS-Client number. The device name is only saved once and even if the device name changes, it will not be updated on the DS-System. Any later update must be done manually. Show Storage Quota and Usage Percentage on Main Screen The storage quota allocated for a DS-Client from the DS-System is displayed on the Android DS-Client main screen. The calculation method and usage percentage is retrieved by DS-Client at every connection to the DS-System and is displayed on the screen as well in graphical form. Asigra Inc. Changed Functionality Jasper Reports Version Up to v12, Asigra products used Jasper Reports version 4.0.0. Starting with this release, Asigra products are delivered and using Jasper Reports version 4.7.1. DS-License Server c2v File Includes DS-License Server Software Version in File Content Starting with this release, the c2v files generated with v12 DS-License Server software or higher will include the DS-License Server software version in the c2v file content. DS-System Storage Locations: Configurable Notification Frequency for Stop Level Up to v12, DS-System Storage Location Stop Level notification was sent immediately after the event and every few minutes afterwards and the frequency of the notifications could not be changed. Starting with v12, multiple notification frequencies are supported for Stop Level such as: immediately, once every 1 hour, once every 2 hours, once every 4 hours, once every 12 hours, once every 1 day. Backup data from Android and IOS Clients cannot be sent to BLM Archiver Starting with this release, data backed up by Android and ios Clients cannot be sent to BLM Archiver via manual or scheduled operations. Manual operations from DS-System will not send the data to BLM Archiver since these types of DS-Clients do not support restoring data from archive packages or BLM restorable images. DS-Client Two-in-one Mac FullFeatured DS-Client Installation (PPC & Intel for Mac OS X 10.5) Starting v12, Mac PPC and Intel installations for Mac OS X 10.5 are bundled into one installation. In the DS-System Upgrade folder, there will be just one installation which the DS-System will push in case an auto-upgrade for a Mac DS-Client is needed. Also on the DVD, there will be one installation delivered for Mac DS-Client, which will detect the OS it is running on and will install all appropriate files. DS-NOC will also provide one upload link and download link for Mac FullFeatured DS-Client Installation Package. Hessian API Listen IPs In v12, the default for DS-Client Listen IPs for the Hessian API has changed from listen to only the local loopback address (127.0.0.1) to listen to all IP addresses (0.0.0.0). When a DS-Client is upgraded, the value configured for the API Listen IP (Linux/Mac) and HessianApiListenIP (Windows) will not be changed. New Backup Set Wizard: Order of Screens Starting with v12, the Retention Rule Screen in New Backup Set Wizard for Win32 DS-User and Java DS-User has been moved to be before the Schedule Screen. This change will not affect existing backup sets or XML configuration files. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 32

Stop on Errors Configuration Up to the current release, "Stop on errors" option was disabled by default. However, even though the option was unchecked in the GUI, each backup activity would stop if it would reach 500 errors. If "Stop on errors" was enabled, then the backup activity would stop if the specified number of errors was reached. The maximum number configurable in DS-User GUI was 9,999, with the possibility to extend this number up to 30,000 by adding a registry key for the DS-Client. Starting with this release, "Stop on errors" option will have the default value 0, where 0 means "do not stop the activity". The number is adjustable, as in previous releases. For upgraded DS-Clients/backup sets, if the "Stop on errors" option is disabled, then the "Stop on errors" option will show 0, and if it is enabled, after the upgrade, the value will remain the same as previously configured. Database Space Notifications Starting with v12, database space notifications sent by Windows or Linux/Mac FullFeatured DS-Clients include the computer name of the database instance and the remaining space available. This information provides customers with a better view to decide if an action must be taken when a notification is received. New Asigra_conf.dtd Naming Convention Up to v12, asigra_conf.dtd file was generated by DS-Client to parse XML configuration files. Starting with v12, two files will be generated by DS-Client when parsing XML files: asigra_conf.dtd - used only to maintain backwards compatibility for the DS-Clients with XML files generated with previous versions of the software and asigra_conf_<ds-clienttype>.dtd where <DS-ClientType> can be "windows", for FullFeatured Windows DS-Client, "linux" for FullFeatured Linux and Mac DS-Clients, "mobile" for DS-Mobile Client on Windows, "consumer" for DS-Consumer Client on Windows and "notebook" for DS-Notebook Client on Mac. The DS-Clients will be modified to generate only one asigra_conf_<ds-clienttype>.dtd file in one of the future versions of Asigra. When using XML files exported with older DS-Clients, you should upload them into v12 DS-Clients and export them again. View Storage Quotas Option Name Change Up to v12, the option "View Storage Quotas" was available in Setup menu of the DS-User. When using this option, DS-Client would connect to DS-System and would get information about the Storage Quotas assigned to the DS-Client, and about the Local-Only quota assigned to the DS-Client (any connection of the DS-Client to the DS-System retrieves information about the tools enabled for the DS-Client). Starting with v12, the option name has changed from "View Storage Quotas" to "View Quotas" and when this option is used, DS-Client will retrieve information from DS-System related to the Storage Quotas allocated to this DS-Client, Local-Only Quota and Local DS-VDR Pool of Allocated and Used licenses. Windows DS-Client Crystal Reports Version Update for Win32 DS-User Win32 DS-User uses Crystal Reports to generate the DS-Client Reports. Starting with v12, the version of Crystal Reports was updated to Crystal Reports XI R2. Skip Synchronization on Backup Sets with Running Activities during Weekly Admin In older versions of the Asigra DS-Client, Weekly Admin would wait to perform synchronization on all the backup sets on that DS-Client before it completes. Starting with v12, Weekly Admin will skip the synchronization process on backup sets locked by other activities and will complete. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. DS-Mobile Client Ability to trigger Daily/Weekly Admin Manually In previous versions of Aisgra DS-Mobile Client, Daily and Weekly Admin activities could be triggered from a randomly selected schedule only. Starting with v12, Daily and Weekly Admin for DS-Mobile Client can be triggered manually. MST Generator Tool for DS-Mobile Client Mass Deployment The process to generate a MST Configuration file has been simplified in v12 for DS-Mobile Client Mass Deployment procedure and for the DS-Mobile Client Wrapper. The tool is now included on the DVD to be used with DS-Mobile Client as well. The ORCA Tool no longer needs to be used for the DS-Mobile Client Mass Deployment procedure. ios/android DS-Client Event Log Usability for ios DS-Client Starting with v12, ios DS-Client logs have greater flexibility. In previous versions of the ios DS-Clients, the event logs for activities were presented as a simple list. In the current released version, the Activity Logs can be filtered by date (with selective To and From fields), by activity type (backup, restore, delete, synchronization, retention), they show the number of files and the amount of data protected on DS-System by each activity and they show intuitive icons that describe the completion status of the activity (information, warnings and errors). Backup Item Selection for Android DS-Client Starting with v12, the backup item selection for Android DS-Client has been organized into categories: Applications (allows selecting individual applications installed on the Android device for backup), data (allows selecting alarm clock, Android Home, Bookmarks, Calendar, Call Logs, Contacts, Music Playlist, Sound & Display Settings, SMS, MMS, User Dictionary for backup), photos (allows selecting all photos for backup), videos (allows selecting all videos for backup), music (allows selecting individual music for backup), SD Card (allows selecting any files/file extensions for backup). Help File Format for Android DS-Client Starting with v12, the Help File that can be accessed via the Android Client interface is in PDF format as opposed to previous versions of the software where the Help File was in HTML format. DS-NOC Sort Download Links and Additional Links in DS-NOC Starting with v12, download links in DS-NOC pages will be sorted by title instead of the ID of the uploaded file. In addition, default upload lines are included in the Software Upload Page and will be displayed in the Software Download Page if applicable. Consolidate Backup Set Naming In v12, DS-System, DS-Client, BLM Archiver and DS-NOC were modified to present the same naming convention across all Activity Logs for all applications and all activities. DS-Client Description in DS-NOC Since DS-Client Description has more and more importance when managing DS-Clients in DS-NOC/DS-System, it has been separated in DS-System reports from other columns and has been included to be displayed optionally in other Asigra Inc. Discontinued Support Notices for v12 DS-Operator Multi-Platform Installation Currently, the Asigra Release DVD ships the DS-Operator Multi-Platform installation separately from the DS-System Installation. Since the DS-System installation provides an option that allows selecting DS-Operator Only installation, and the DS-Operator Multi-Platform installation is supported on same Operating Systems where DS-System Installation is supported, Asigra will no longer ship the DS-Operator Multi-Platform Installation separately, starting with v12. Customers must use the DS-System Installation and select the DS-Operator component if they want to install the DS-Operator Graphical User Interface on different machines. For existing DS-Operator Multi-Platform software installed, customers should uninstall the DS-Operator Multi-Platform and install v12 DS-Operator using the DS-System Installation. Mac DS-Client Installation on Mac 10.4 (PPC & Intel) Starting with v12 of the Asigra Software, Mac FullFeatured DS-Client installation is no longer supported on Mac 10.4 Tiger (PPC & Intel hardware). All Mac DS-Clients currently running on this version of the OS must be migrated to a Mac OS listed as supported in the Installation and Backup and Restore Support Matrix for v12. Backup and Restore of Oracle on HPUX PARISC Starting with v12, Asigra no longer supports backup and recovery of Oracle 10g R2 running on PARISC 2.x HPUXi (11.23) (x64) and Oracle 11g R1 running on PARISC 3.x HPUXi (11.3). HPUX PARISC support was discontinued by HP in the year 2008. Backup and Restore of SAP on HPUX PARISC Starting with v12, Asigra no longer supports backup and recovery of SAP running on HPUX PARISC 11.23. HPUX PARISC support was discontinued by HP in the year 2008. Discontinued Support Notices for v13 ios Support for Versions Older than ios 5.0 Starting with v13, Asigra ios DS-Client will support version 5.0 and up. Older versions of ios Operating Systems are no longer supported and Asigra ios DS-Client v13 is no longer backwards compatible with older versions of the DS-System. This change is done to be able to accommodate additional backup items for ios, since the Apple APIs for ios 5.0 are more flexible than for older versions of ios. DS-User Multi-Platform Installation on Linux and Mac Asigra DVD currently ships with the DS-User Multi-Platform installations separate from the DS-Client Installation. DS-User Multi-Platform installation was supported on Windows, Linux and Mac Operating Systems. Since the DS-Client installation on both Linux and Mac provides an option to simply install the DS-User GUI, the DS-User Multi-Platform installation for Linux and Mac will no longer be shipped on the Asigra official release DVD starting with v13. Only the DS-User Multi-Platform for Windows will be shipped on the official release of v13. For customers having DS-User installed with Multi-Platform installation, they will have to uninstall the older version of the DS-User and then re-install the DS-User Asigra Inc. using the DS-Client installation v13. Auto-upgrade for Linux and Mac DS-User Multi-Platform from any FullFeatured Windows, Linux or Mac DS-Client will no longer work in this version of the software. Auto-upgrade of Windows DS-User Multi-Platform is still supported from all FullFeatured DS-Clients (depending on their configuration). Known Issues Backwards Compatibility of Android DS-Client Backup Data Incremental forever processing is now performed for any data that is backed up using the Android DS-Client. Therefore, any data that was backed up using previous versions of Android DS-Client must be backed up again to ensure restorability. The Android DS-Client will automatically attempt a new backup of the data after the upgrade tov12 to ensure that all your backed up data can be recovered. DS-User GUI Appearance on Windows 8 Default Theme When installing Win32 DS-User, Java DS-User, DS-Mobile User or DS-Consumer User on Windows 8 configured with the Default Desktop Theme (Aero), the DS-User GUIs may display behavior which cannot be currently fixed by Asigra development: Show incorrectly buttons in DS-User GUI (such as the close window button). Windows 8 icons may overlap with some of the title bars on the GUI windows. etc. To bypass these issues, the default theme of the computer running Windows DS-Client should be changed to a Classic Windows Theme. Auto-Upgrade of DS-User Running under Admin Account on Mac OS X Auto-Upgrade of DS-Users is supported from DS-Clients which have DS-User Auto-Upgrade packages in the autoupgrade cache. For DS-Users running on MAC OS X Operating Systems, auto-upgrade will work only when DS-User is launched using root account. When DS-User is launched using admin account, auto-upgrade will fail since admin account does not have rights to overwrite the root ownership of DS-User files (previously installed with root account). Auto-Upgrade of DS-User for VAR Branding For v12 of the software, when DS-System is configured to support VAR Branding, DS-User Auto-Upgrade packages should not be placed in the Upgrade folder of the DS-System since the VAR branding will be affected. Currently, only one branding is supported for DS-User Auto-Upgrade packages in DS-System, the Service Provider branding. Orphaned Backup Sets Recovery on DS-Mobile Client When recovering orphaned backup sets on DS-Mobile Client, if a backup set with the same name already exists, the process will error out. Users must change the name of the existing backup set with duplicate name and then must initiate the recovery process again. Account Encryption Keys Containing Unicode Characters Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 37

Unicode characters are supported for both private and account encryption keys. Asigra Windows and Linux/Mac DS-Client use different encoding for their encryption keys. Because of this, when using Unicode characters in the Account Key, Windows and Linux/Mac DS-Clients cannot be installed under the same account, even if the Account Encryption Keys provided are the same. LAN Discovery Path Lengths Currently, Linux and Mac DS-Client support LAN Discovery Paths Length for scanning of up to 1024 characters. When trying to scan paths longer than 1024 characters, DS-Clients will report errors and the LAN Discovery Scan will stop. File Restore of MS SharePoint to Original Location When performing file restore of MS SharePoint Servers to Original Location and the MS SharePoint Server is configured with remote MS SQL Databases, the restore may fail with the error The network name cannot be found. Use Alternate Location restore to proceed with the restore for such scenarios. Restore of MS Exchange 2007 Items when backup with CDOEX to MS Exchange 2010 When performing backup of MS Exchange items, DS-MLR will try to backup via MAPI and if that fails, it will backup via CDOEX. When restoring items backed up from MS Exchange 2007 using CDOEX to MS Exchange 2010, the restore may fail. Microsoft has removed the support for CDOEX from MS Exchange 2010. To bypass this, restore the items backed up via CDOEX to an MS Exchange 2007 Server. Third Party Software Known Issues Re-install DS-Client with MS SQL Express on Windows 2008 R2 x64 When re-installing Windows DS-Client with MS SQL Express on a Windows 2008 R2 x64 machine, the installation of the MS SQL Express software may fail and the following error message will be displayed SQL Exception: 0xFFFFFFFF. The issue is caused by MS SQL Express uninstaller which does not completely uninstall MS SQL Native Client. As a workaround, extract sqlncli_x64.msi from SQLEXPR.exe and run the msi before you reinstall the DS-Client with MS SQL Server Express. Update of Red Hat OS and PostgreSQL Libraries When upgrading Red Hat 5 (x64) OS from one Update/Service Pack to another (e.g. from Red Hat 5 U3 to Red Hat 5 U4), the Red Hat Upgrade removes the PostgreSQL libraries libpq.so.5 and libpq.so.5.2 from the /usr/lib64 folder. Because of this, psql and pg_dump no longer function and any Asigra Software which uses these functions to update database patches or to trigger a database backup will have issues. Asigra Inc. Apache Tomcat Installed on x64 (64-bit) Windows Operating Systems When installing Apache Tomcat on x64 architecture Windows Operating Systems, the Tomcat service may fail to start. In order for Apache Tomcat to run, it needs the msvcr71.dll in the Apache Tomcat Installation directory, in the /bin folder. The msvcr71.dll file can be found in the bin folder of any Java JRE installation. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential. Not for Distribution. Page 39

Certifications In version 9.0 of the Software, Asigra separated its encryption functions to a separate encryption library in order to obtain NIST validation of the software security functions. Currently, the following functionality has been certified: AES encryption - certificate #968 (see http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/stm/cavp/documents/aes/aesval.html) Random number generation - certificate #546 (see http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/stm/cavp/documents/rng/rngval.html) Digital signature - certificate #938 (see http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/stm/cavp/documents/shs/shaval.htm) HMAC - certificate #541 (see http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/stm/cavp/documents/mac/hmacval.html) Asigra has also applied for FIPS 140-2 certification of this encryption library. The certification process has finished and the status can be viewed at http://csrc.nist.gov/groups/stm/cmvp/inprocess.html. Asigra Inc. All Rights Reserved. v12 Release Notes. Confidential.
