Typical Wayside Reader System Quotation Please note that components can be added or deleted to the quotation to meet the customer s individual requirements. This is in response to your request for a quotation for an AEI reader system to track railcar movements at XXX s facility in XXXX, XX. This quotation is broken down into ten component areas. These are: AI3000 AEI Reader (wayside reader) Wireless RF Ethernet Bridge Modems Solar Power One AI4100-F Portable AEI Reader AEI Rail and Road Manager Program AI3000 AEI Reader Site License AEI Rail & Road Manager Software Multi-user Licenses Track Tags AEI Reader Installation Supervision Service Agreement The following describes these components and their prices: AI3000 AEI Reader The AI3000 AEI Reader is a low-cost wayside AEI reader used primarily to identify rail vehicles. It can send information on rail vehicle movements directly over a network as a file attached to an email, a file sent to an FTP server, and as a data stream sent to Softrail's AEI Rail and Road Manager Program. The basic AI3000 AEI Reader consists of five main components. These components are: A commercial Mobile Computer running the Windows Mobile 5 Operating System A 3M IDentity 4100 Part 90 RF Reader with a Built-in Antenna An External Antenna A Presence Radar Doppler Radar The price for the AI3000 AEI Reader is $18,500 each.
This price does not include: Cost to install the AI3000 AEI reader Cost to supervise the installation of the AI3000 AEI reader Cost of providing local power Cost for the communications hardware to transmit data to other systems Wireless RF Ethernet Bridge Modems The AI3000 Reader communicates with various computers and servers over your local area network. The readers can connect to your LAN via a cable connection. Because it is sometimes too expensive to provide a cable connection, we provide an option to communicate wirelessly using ethernet bridge modems. These RF modems operate in the 900 MHz band and have a range in excess of five miles. The price for a wireless modem with an antenna and cabling is $1,250. Two wireless modems may be required for each AI3000 reader. Solar Power The AI3000 reader system can operate off 120 VAC or 24 VDC for solar and battery backup installations. The price for the solar power option for most locations in the United States is $8,000. The price may be higher in Northern climates. AI4100-F Portable AEI Reader The AI4100-F Portable AEI Reader is used to collect AEI data on railcars located on the tracks. The AI4100-F can store up to 200 cuts of up to 150 rail cars each for later upload to the AEI Rail & Road Manager software. The price for an AI4100-F Portable AEI Reader is $2,800 and includes a battery charger and a computer interface cable. It has a one-year warranty. AEI Rail & Road Manager Software Our AEI Rail & Road Manager software was designed as a low-cost package for tracking rail vehicle movements in a rail yard. This is a Windows-based program that can run under the Windows XP or Windows 7 operating systems. The AEI Rail & Road Manager software program allows the user to draw his/her own facility and move rail vehicles manually by dragging and dropping rail vehicle icons from one track to another. By using input from wayside AEI readers, the program can also automatically track rail vehicle movements. The price for the AEI Rail & Road Manager software interfaced to the AI3000 AEI Readers is $4,000. Attached is a manual on the AEI Rail & Road Manager Program. AEI Rail & Road Manager Software AI3000 Reader License The AEI Rail & Road Manager software is designed to communicate with up to 100 AI3000 Yard Readers. The AEI Rail & Road Manager program requires that each AI3000 Yard Reader have a site license The price for each AI3000 AEI Reader site license is $3,000. This is a one-time license charge. No annual fees. AEI Rail & Road Manager Software Multi-user License The AEI Rail & Road Manager software is a multi-user system. This allows many users on a network to enter and view data. Each license is for installing the AEI Rail & Road Manager software on a single computer. The price for each additional license is $500. This is a one-time license charge. No annual fees. Track Tags Track tags are used to identify the tracks on which the railcars are located. They eliminate the need for the operator to manually enter track information. Two track tags are used for each track, one on each end. The price for a track tag is $37.
Installation Supervision Usually the customer is responsible for installing the wayside AEI readers. We provide personnel to supervise the installation of the equipment and software. The price for installation supervision of one AI3000 reader system is estimated to be $3,600 for one day at your facility. This price includes all travel and living costs. Service Agreement The AI3000 Network Yard AEI Reader is designed to be reliable and easy to maintain. The system constantly checks the status of all major components and sends a maintenance alarm email when it sees a problem. The AI3000 AEI Reader also emails its communications log and maintenance log every 24 hours. Softrail will monitor maintenance alarm emails from all of the sites and will receive both the communications and maintenance logs. Softrail will maintain one set of spare parts for XXX s reader sites. When it is determined that a component has failed at a site, Softrail will next day ship a replacement component for installation by XXX s personnel. XXX will return the failed component for repair. The service agreement also includes software support for the AEI Rail and Road Manager and the AI4100 Portable AEI Readers. The yearly price for this service is $3,396, which is 12% of the cost of one AI3000 AEI Reader system, the AEI Rail and Road Manager Program and one AI4100 Portable Reader (12% of $28,300).
