THE LASER COURSE Aesthetic Laser & Light Based Office Procedures, & Medical Laser Safety Officer A 2 1/2 Day modular Certification program for Aesthetic Laser Operators & Surgical/Medical Operators & Safety Officers Totally NEW Program Content! & Hands-On! COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Laser Course Hands-On Aesthetic Laser Operator & Medical Laser Safety Officer Dual-Track Program The Boot Camp of Laser Training This is a VERY INTENSIVE 2 day hands-on program Expect long hours both days, and study in advance. Are you a surgical laser nurse or technician working in an operating room, outpatient surgery center or office, and need the core training for laser safety and surgical use? Then you need the 1st day of this program as a Medical Laser Safety Officer (LSO) and Operator Course. You ll learn all the required fundamentals of laser and energy concepts, tissue interactions, laser delivery devices, and laser safety, including ANSI 136.3 Laser Safety Standards. This one day portion of the program goes from 7:30am to 4pm, adjourning prior to the rest of the class that is taking the entire Aesthetic Laser Operator program. Are you a physician, nurse, aesthetician or technician in a cosmetic practice? Then you need both days of this program. The first day will give you all the laser, energy and safety concepts that all health care users are required to have, and the late afternoon and second day will give you the fundamentals of the majority of aesthetic laser procedures - including hands-on demonstrations and practice. You ll get a certificate that recognizes both the Medical Laser Safety Officer Training AND the Aesthetic Laser Office Procedures Training. It will also make you a knowledgable buyer of laser & IPL equipment, and you ll work with some at the course. This is the "Boot Camp" Laser course to gain a solid foundation in aesthetic laser office procedures, earn a certificate of Laser Training, and optionally sit for the Aesthetic Laser Operator Certification Exam. It s sufficient to get you started if you first seek out some initial clinical supervision as we ll discuss in the course. It's not limited to just one Laser company - we give you a broad foundation on all of them, even though we work with 1-2 in each course to supply equipment. Our nonprofit foundation has conducted laser training for almost 30 years! This program covers all the lasers, the majority of aesthetic laser & light applications, and includes hands-on demonstrations with representative types of lasers. This allows you to make informed judgments about equipment and which procedures to begin with. The small step up then of "inservice" type training by the salespeople on a unit you then buy becomes very easy and gives you a solid knowledge base that you can't get with sales inservices alone. Your best scenario is to take this course before you commit to buying equipment, but it's still very worthwhile after you re offering procedures, including gaining the Certificates. The first day gives you all the required information as a Laser Safety Officer in a hospital surgery department outpatient clinic or office.

Many insurance companies are now requiring evidence of formal training in these aesthetic procedures prior to providing liability or malpractice coverage. State licensing to perform these procedures by non-physicians varies in every state, and as a nonprofit educational group we are not in a position to track all of these State licensing laws. Many States have no requirements at all. We do put up a list of all the State s Medical Boards and other contacts so that you can call and investigate yourself. It s available on the Resources page of our website, and we ll provide the contact list at the course, plus help wherever else we can. Licensed physicians however can perform all of these procedures in the States where they are licensed with no additional proof of training or Certifications, and can generally delegate them to nurses or medical assistants working under their supervision. We are a postgraduate medical education group and we do conduct programs in Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. However this Aesthetic Laser & Light Based Office Procedures Course is NOT a medical course. These are Courses for Cosmetic procedures - not medical ones. This is an important distinction. We do have many Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons that have come to this training because it s frequently something that isn t adequately covered in the residency programs, and Family Practitioners and other non-dermatology physicians also benefit. The level of the training though is primarily non-medical and oriented toward benign cosmetic lesions. Even though this distinction can be somewhat fuzzy at times, we make the effort during this course to draw the line of when patients might be better referred out to a qualified Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon for a cosmetic procedure rather than aggressively testing the limits yourself. For the non-physicians in the group we will stress the importance of developing relationships with such specialists for referrals, and the importance of a qualified medical director for ongoing advice and direction.
