NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 2 Before installing, if you are going to use SMTP for outbound faxing (email to fax), you must install the virtual SMTP Server service first. If you are going to use POP3, skip to section 1.1. Install Microsoft Virtual SMTP Server This varies depending on Operating System. XP and 2003 Add or Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components. Double click Application Server > double-click IIS > check the box for SMTP Service. 2008 and 2008 R2 Administrative Tools > Server Manager > Features. Click Add Features, and check the SMTP Server. Windows 7 Windows 7 does not include SMTP Service so it cannot receive emails via SMTP. POP3 must be used. In neither case do you want to install all of IIS, since the web server will default to use port 80, conflicting with NET SatisFAXtion web server. This will make NET SatisFAXtion fail to load. Upgrade Path Note: Updating the POP3 gateway will occur automatically as part of the NET SatisFAXtion 8.7 upgrade. If the SMTP gateway is detected, the 8.6 version will be left in place during the upgrade process. Once the upgrade is complete, and you have installed the Microsoft Virtual SMTP Server, you can update the SMTP gateway by installing it from the LaunchPad.

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 9 Gateway Configuration Once installed, the first configuration screen comes up The URL to your fax server should be auto-filled. If there is a password for the Supervisor user, set it and click test connection. This is needed to create the SMTPPost system user for the gateway. Make sure you get a Test completed successfully dialog back. If the test does not complete, make sure the NET SatisFAXtion fax server service is loaded and that you can reach the URL from a web browser. If this step fails, solve this problem before moving forward or the gateway will not be able to communicate with the fax server. (See troubleshooting section)

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 10 Service Administration Port This port must be available for use exclusively by the gateway for administration and logging.

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 11 Select POP3 or SMTP Mode Select either POP3 or SMTP. If you are using POP3: Check Use a mailbox POP3 and click Next. (Section 1.3) If you are using SMTP: Check Route mail to this server using SMTP and click next (Section 1.4)

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 12 POP3 Settings (If POP3 was selected you will see this screen) POP Mailbox Enter the email address, username and password Mail Server Enter the Server name or IP address of the POP mail server. If TLS security is needed, check this box and enter the port specified by the mail server. Typically port 110 without TLS, 995 when using TLS, but can be custom. Check with the POP mail server provider for the proper port Advanced Poll Interval (seconds): Default 65 seconds The default is set to 65 seconds because some mail servers will reject clients logging in and polling for new mail sooner than 1 minute. You can adjust accordingly.

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 13 SMTP Settings If only SMTP was selected, you will see this screen The Mail queue drop folder is read from the Virtual SMTP Server: C:\inetpub\mailroot\Drop Domain: The fax domain (for example fax.example.com). The same as you renamed the domain in the Virtual SMTP Server setup step.

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 14 Configure Gateway Options Delivery / Non-Delivery notification options Send email notification on successfully sent faxes Sent email notifications on unsuccessful faxes Include the fax image in the notification email Include original attachments that were submitted to be faxed. Additional Attachment options Use confirmation page formatting for fax image attachments. A thumbnail of the first page of the sent fax will be merged with relevant data about the delivery of the fax. Fax image attachments and confirmation pages can be attached in PDF rather than the default TIFF format.

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 15 Configure Gateway Options Cover page options: Default global options for cover pages: No Cover RTF Cover populated with email message body text (default behavior of previous gateways) RTF Cover generated even if the message body is blank. Send entire email contents as the cover page Whitelist / Blacklist Options Fax only files with these extensions - Only allow the sever to convert the specified file types. Example, only allow *.RTF, *.DOC, *.PDF All others will be ignored by the fax server. Ignore files with these extensions - (use instead of the whitelist) Server will ignore all file types listed but convert all other files. Automatically ad users as needed for send fax requests This option checked, creates users if they do not exist when they send their first fax. Users are created based on their return email address and friendly or display name. This option, if unchecked, will send an email rejection to a user if they do not already exist in the fax server s user list.

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 16 Inbound fax to email delivery Notifications and Inbound Faxes Email Address: This will be the email address Notifications and inbound faxes come from Email Display Name: This will be the Display or Friendly Name to identify the fax server the message comes from. SMTP Mail Server Specify the mail server or smart host the gateway will relay email messages through Select TLS as needed and specify the proper TLS port for your mail server or smart host (likely either 587 or 465) Authentication Enter credentials needed for simple user authentication

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 17 Use the Sent Test Email button to test your email delivery settings. Make sure you receive an email to be sure all the above settings are correct. If the email message is accepted by your mail server or smart host, the following dialog is presented. Attachment Settings Attachment Settings File Name: Builds the name of the received fax attachment. There are several variable options and you can include any static text you wish, up to a total of 255 characters File Type: Select TIF or (if licensed for the PDF Converter) select PDF

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 18 Link Settings Allows received faxes for email gateway users to be copied to a special location on a network share (if licensed for Export), and users will receive a link to the file in their received fax email, rather than an attachment. Saved To: The directory path where image data should be saved. Linked To: The link uri to be included in the email to the user. Email Gateway Monitoring Email monitoring uses a simple SMTP send utility rather than the gateway to deliver your choice of critical errors and/or state changes in an email message to NET SatisFAXtion administrators. This helps to assure critical message delivery should the email gateway go down or is unable to communicate with the fax server or mail server. Email Gateway Monitor Notifications Enable or disable email Monitoring. Mail Server Select the mail server to send alert messages to. This might be a different mail server than is used by the email gateway itself. The Advanced button can be used to specify TLS and authentication credentials if necessary. Limit repeat notifications to every: 120 minutes Set the frequency of error reporting for the same error. New errors will be sent immediately, then if repeated, will follow this rule. Send Notification for Critical Errors: Workflow State Change

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 19 Installation Complete Click Finish It can take several seconds to compile the workflows and start the Email Gateway Service. Configuration Changes after installation Once installed, to make configuration changes, go to the Start menu - Programs - NET SatisFAXtion and select Configure Email Gateway to rerun the configuration wizard. Troubleshooting Test connection fails to connect to the fax server URL

NET SatisFAXtion Email Gateway Installation Guide Page 20 Check the following: NET SatisFAXtion service is loaded If installing the email gateway on a machine other than the fax server, test that you can get to the URL from a web browser (i.e. http://yourfaxserver/casdrive.api )
