Collaborative, Consolidated, Cooperative Programs & Services Services for Students Career and Technical Education Programs Over 700 high school students from throughout Muskegon County attend 17 high-tech, hands-on courses offered at the Muskegon Area Career Tech Center each year. The cost for equipment and supplies in the welding lab alone totals $221,900. Early College of Muskegon County Over 120 students enrolled in Early College extend high school by one year to earn both their high school diploma and up to 62 college credits from Muskegon Community College at no cost to the student. Head Start and Early Head Start A federal grant of $7.2 million is awarded annually to the MAISD to operate Head Start and Early Head Start. Head Start is a free preschool program serving over 1,000 income-eligible children in Muskegon and Oceana Counties each year. Early Head Start provides home-based services for over 70 families. Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) The MAISD manages the $4.7 million state pre-kindergarten program known as GSRP. This program prepares over 700 eligible four-year-old children for kindergarten. W-A-Y (Widening Advancements for Youth) Muskegon W-A-Y is a free project based, online method of learning for teens who have been unsuccessful in the traditional school setting. Wesley School & Transition Campus at the HUB Wesley School is a centralized special education facility for 125 students with severe physical and/or cognitive impairments from two to 26 years of age. Average cost of one classroom is approximately $300,000. Wesley School also operates the Transition Campus at the HUB for 70 students ages 18 to 26 with moderate to severe disabilities.

The Muskegon Area Intermediate School District Technology department is able to bring the new financial software and support to our district that would otherwise be cost prohibitive. The services provided are unequivocally superior. Local District Business Manager Services to Save Time & Money Guest (Substitute) Teacher Consortium Contracting with an agency to administer countywide guest teacher employment saves local districts approximately $270,000 annually. Special Education Transportation In 2012-13 local school boards contracted with the MAISD for special education transportation. The MAISD generated an additional $862,093 in revenue for local districts due to a higher state reimbursement rate. Cooperative Purchasing School districts in Muskegon County saved $968,144 (40%) off educational pricing on their purchases during the 2012-13 school year through Regional Educational Media Center 4 s (REMC4) cooperative purchasing program. One example is the cooperative purchase of anti-virus software for 35,000 computers in the state. Banking Services A banking cooperative with six districts within the MAISD saved $500,000 in the first year alone due to reduced banking fees and increased investment income. Customized Business Services The MAISD provides direct, customized business services for 7 districts. Services range from accounts payable, payroll operations, and general accounting to full departmental financial services.

Cooperative Data Solutions Serving Over 32 School Customers in Five Counties The Muskegon Area ISD delivers the highest quality data services to schools in Michigan, while being one of the lowest priced technology service providers in the state. Services include accounting, payroll/human resources, and student records management. Over 32 school customers in five counties subscribe to MAISD s technology services. Tyler MUNIS Financial Software To meet the financial management needs of schools throughout the state, the MAISD has established a consortium utilizing Tyler MUNIS financial software. MUNIS is a cutting-edge system that is proven to be more efficient with modules for financials, revenues, payroll, and human resources. The Muskegon Area ISD now serves over 30 MUNIS customers. Student Records Management The MAISD has implemented PowerSchool Student Information System, the world s most widely used web-based SIS, as our student management system in all 12 school systems. PowerSchool enables our educators to make timely decisions that impact student performance while creating a collaborative environment for parents, teachers, and students. Shoreline Fiber Network The MAISD, Muskegon County, and Muskegon County Dispatch 9-1-1 collaborated to cost-effectively construct and maintain a fiber network that provides faster online connections and lowers expenses. Annual combined savings from the Shoreline Fiber Network exceed $250,000 a year and are still growing as more schools move to VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) for phone service. Data Warehouse (IGOR) The MAISD led the cooperative purchase, implementation, training, and technical support to launch the data warehouse. This tool makes it easier for school instructional staff to track student achievement and analyze data to improve learning. The data warehouse contains over 400 reports in over 20 different data sets like MEAP, MME (Michigan Merit Exam), ACT and more.
